As there is essentially nothing going on until Sunday other than a couple of meaningless/worthless garbage All Star games that only
a crazed/maniacal lunatic like Phil Steele would bother to handicap let alone bet on, I decided to get something off my chest which I
haven't talked about all that much.
This segment is entitled The Other Side of the Phil Steele/NC Scandal.
Here goes-all of this is of course highly subjective and without proof, although I firmly believe it to be 100% true based on my following
Phil Steele and his pattern of behavior as it relates to NC.
Anyways as anyone knows who has followed what I say about Phil Steele/NC over the years, I have always concentrated on the scamdicapping aspect of
all of this, namely trying to dupe the public through lies of omission and to a smaller extent lies of commission, spin, half truths, using favorable
time frames to present their records and a bit more.
While I strongly believe all of this to be true, I think that this may be a by product of Phil Steele's psyche.
What do I mean?
Well we all know that when Todd, Steele''s co-conspirator/comp. guy in all of this, does the comp. line, we have always got a truly distorted picture of
how NC has been doing, which for all reasons stated previously, gives the impression that all is well with NC and that at the very least they have been winning
when in fact as my documentation shows, nothing could be further from the truth,
Well on the surface the reason is that Steele/NC want to hide the truth from all potential and even present clientele out there so that they will
buy the products and services of NC, but imo there is more.
To cut to the chase, I firmly believe one of the big reasons that NC operates in the manner in which they do is because Steele is mot emotionally
equipped to deal with losing picks, losing days, losing weeks and losing seasons because of his feelings of superiority, infallibility and overall arrogance.
Thus imo when a pick/picks loses/lose, in order to remove any short term hurt, he immediately tries to find a way to negate all of this in the mind.
Thus as see it, in his mind the easiest way to deal with it/rationalize it is to find a way to make a positive out of it.
For example, if NC has a lousy day or week, no biggie-just go back and use some kind of time frame to "prove" that the short loss or losses were aberrations
and that his/NC picks are still very good.
Conversely if the long term record is crappy, then imo he looks for an out/something positive in the short term which can and will use
in his mind to rationalize/block out the longer term picture.
Using this year as an example, which has been atrocious, as you can see with the documentation in post 913, in his mind he will think only about the
two truly outstanding weeks during the season where they hit about 85% of the plays and conclude that the overall fourteen losing weeks out fifteen(the 14 out of 19
I stated yesterday is incorrect) and consider that as an aberration and due to the faults of the players and teams involved rather than his 'infallible'
handicapping methods.
Along the same lines of thinking, although the obvious reason that NC has so many different types of picks, packages, services, etc. to draw from
is to extort as much money out of the public as possible, imo just as importantly if not more importantly the reason that Phil Steele does this
is again because he is unemotionally equipped to deal with losses and needs something to grasp when a certain category of pick/picks go down.
One doesn't need to be a rocket scientist to realize that when one has so many choices to choose from as Steele/NC do, the chances are
pretty overwhelming that at least something will win, which in turn will give Phil Steele something to hang his hat on, take away
the hurt and bring some resultant emotional stability.
That's it-thanks to those who took the time to read this.
As always, feel free to add any commentary
