I never said Stafford wasn't an upgrade over Goff. I'm just not sure debating the NFL's #9 QB vs #14 QB (or whatever) serves any purpose since the middle tier is the most crowded in the league. Definitely not worth TWO firsts and a 3rd. Also, the Ramsey trade...

Anyway, Rams window was short, now they stink and need to rebuild, something apparently McVay wants no part of.

Yes, Goff/Stafford can be debated all day. These mid-tier QBs run/hot cold and are highly dependent on the players around them so it gets really subjective in grading them in real time. Especially when they are so polarizing.

I would say though it is easy to say Goff isn't much worse than him now than it was a year ago after Goff redeemed himself a bit this year. But he had some rough years in there, Kupp wasn't doing the 2021 Kupp historical season with him.

As far as McVay goes, I've asked this a few times. Why do you care he is bailing when the Rams are fading? Your reaction in this thread feels like visceral disdain.

He took them over when they were a dumpster fire and helped put them on the map with an impressive 6 year resume. Other than that, who cares? It is a football team owned by some billionaire. If he feels he got screwed (doubtful) why should people care?...They might suck another 20 years, they might be back in the SB in 3. No one had the Eagles as the #1 seed when they tanked with Nate Sudfeld the final game of 2020.

I actually think Stafford would be a Hall of Famer if he churned out 3-5 more seasons......seems almost impossible though
If Stafford is a HOFer, so are Rivers, Tony Romo, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Joe Flacco...

I could put together quite a list, none of which I think are HOFers.

Seriously, only current active player I can think of other than Brady is Aaron Rodgers.

Agree at QB, besides guys under 28 who don't have a resume yet.

I don't really care who gets in the HOF but you start letting Rivers, Ryan, Stafford in that's a joke.

Ben Roethlisberger is an interesting cutoff point. I'd say he deserves to get in but wouldn't lose sleep if he didn't.

I mean guys like Eli are getting consideration and I would take Stafford over him even with 1 less ring

Other guys don’t have rings. Flacco does but his resume is worse

I would say no on Stafford if he’s done (could be the case), but I think if he played close to a half decade and was productive he could get in. Probably would need team success to support it as well

As for active players, Mahomes is a lock I’d say barring catastrophic injury

Yeah, Eli Manning, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Drew Brees...probably a good cut off point at QB.

Russell Wilson isn't good enough, I don't think.

If Stafford or Eli gets in, then it isn't the HOF anymore.

You should atleast have to be clear consensus top 3-5 for some measurable time period of your career. And if that isn't the criteria anymore, then I can't say I care who gets in.

What? Eli in and Wilson out. Hahahahaaaa

Eli made play offs 3 times his entire career and had a .500 record as a starter.

U crazy.

Eli's plaque. "I am the definition of average but I did get the heads of Brady(twice), Rodgers and Favre.

Because you definitely wouldn't want to show his career numbers.

Class of 2025 will make it difficult for Eli get in on the first ballot. That's why I mentioned his name...he's right on the cusp.

Your obsession with numbers is definitely a millennial thing...at least at this level.

You don't need numbers to prove the top 5 QBs in the league at any given time. It's rather obvious, everyone just kinda knows.

Eli's family name will carry weight, as will his Super Bowl hardware and SB MVPs, not to mention the dragons he slayed, as you pointed out. And I'm not even saying I would vote for him, it's just how he's perceived.

Eli's just a notch bellow Big Ben, and I think Big Ben gets in. Like I said, on the cusp...

Lol.

Joe: don't worry about numbers look at his last name and it just feels right.

Just a notch below Ben. Hahahaha. yeah right. Ben is another level compared to Eli.

Eli as a QB and was never considered once for an MVP. Never even made a conversation.

Eli is the definition of "blah."

Ben is no question HOF.

Mahomes is a no question HOF

If you put eli in you might as well stick in Stafford and Joe Flacco.

Mister Blah had his number retired by the Giants, 2x Super Bowl champion, 2x Super Bowl MVP, and 4x Pro-Bowler.

Eli's only one of five players to have multiple Super Bowl MVP awards.

Those two pesky Vince Lombardi trophies carry a lot of weight.

Remember: it's the HOF, not fantasy football.

Also, a lot depends on who is eligible the same year, which we're not going to get into right now.
