Some of the bad press Phil got was from guys like Steve Elkington who would visit Jim Romes show and say Phil is a phony.. Elkington is Rome's boy, so Rome runs with it of course and to my best knowledge, Phil has never been on Rome's show so Rome will trash anyone that doesn't give him an interview.. Rome is also tough on Tiger.. Tiger wouldn't give Rome the time of day either.. Who in the hell is Steve Elkington and what has he ever done for anyone, who cares what he thinks ? But IMO thats where is started..

redeye, im sure ive mentioned somewhere here, but i house a handful of caddies during the st.jude classic every year... the rumors of phil being a huge kiss ass phony and, for the most part, an unliked pompous prick around tour, are quite true... apparently, he made some changes after cancer hit his wife and mother, but is still recognized as a huge fucking jackoff... ive met him a handful of times and he always seemed okay, but you can tell that every word he says and every thing he does is for a reason... the guy is overly worried about his image with the public

his play today was incredible ...

I guess he has fooled alot of people then, seems like the media and the fans eat him up. even the talking heads who are close to the game are always showering praise..

since turning 33, Phil has 5 majors and 5 runnerups.. Tiger has no major wins and 1 runnerup since turning 33....

What a performance by Phil, Tiger must be seething with jealousy watching Phil take the cup surrounded by his great looking family &
caddy whose been with Phil his whole career. Phil certainly doesn't have any family or caddy problems like Tiger. Watching Phil being his equal in majors or even better in the recent past & doing poorly as usual on Sunday he appeared as frustrated as an hysterical women out there.

After getting beaten by Phil by 8 strokes Sunday Woods again in the aftermath showed what a poor loser he is. When asked about Mickelson's play Woods said. 'It's ceratinly gettable out there, you can shot between 3 & 5 under out there today. Evidently he got a pretty good feel for it & made a few putts. What a loser Woods is to minimize perhaps one of the best last rounds in a major golf tournament!

you think people on tour just go around talking about other players in interviews and such? dont be silly:ohno:... after what phils family has gone through, nobody would go on camera to talk negative about him anyways.... he is quite the jolly guy now, no doubt, but the rumors of him being two-faced , arent really rumors at all... and a guy with numerous unpaid gambling debts is going to catch shit from every direction anyways...

nobody might not talk negative in the media, but why does he get all of the extra praise ?.. must be something to it..You think all of the charitable acts, the sportsmanship, helping the newer players on tour ,etc, are just all of our imagination..?

Who's dumb idea was it to merge a whole bunch of Tiger Woods threads together?

Some people do not have a clue about marketing and forums.

I bet the persons name starts with a W.

Phil is really good dude.
He wants to make sure everyone knows he is a good dude, but he is still indeed a good guy.

If your a popular person, your never going to please everyone...everyone wants something whether its money or an autograph.. if you don't get what you want, its amazing how that person will look at them differently then what others might...

well, a 71 to open the pga for tiger. here we go again..
It's not going to be easy coming back from an over the par round and catch world class golfers like Justin Rose and Adam Scott. What makes it worse is the golf course will probably dry out a little by tomorrow given if there is no rain, and Tiger will have to play the tougher Friday afternoon round.

Scott keeps this up, nobody is catching him. Ill admit, Scott is the best golfer in the world right now. He better learn how to putt with a real putter though.......no doubt that Tiger wants this course to dry out though, he always wants a dry, fast course

I have a feeling that Scott and Bradley are going to milk these long putters for all they can get before being forced to make a change. I think the only golfers who this is truly going to hurt by the switch are the golfers who really had a bad case of the yips before. Not all of these golfers had that problem. Some just chose the long putter because it was the most comfortable for them to use. Especially the taller players like Kuchar, Scott & Bradley. Scott is definitely the most consistent golfer this season. But I think he can be beat if any of these top 10 players get hot on the course. Mickelson has done a great job of bringing his round back. I wouldn't be surprised if he was right there on Sunday, even though this course really doesn't favor his game that much.

Yea, Phil did a good job getting it together. I watched most of Tigers round on my tablet, he played a -3 round, but put +1 on his scorecard. I would imagine that dude and anybody around him are having a pretty miserable Thursday afternoon.....he is either going to have two shoot two low rounds or count on everybody making pars the rest of the week which isn't likely with the amount and quality of golfers in front of him
