Hope you guys are happy in your "new" new place. Curious what part of town you settled on. (feel free to email me if you don't want to post it here).

You are welcome to come over and I can share the secrets of getting up at 1, betting on 55 soccer games. Playing some online poker and throwing your mouse against the wall. Then proceeding to drink some beer and tequila and look at internet porn while I post on the Rx.

Yeah, it's a glamorous life I lead.

You sound a little bored. I do know one thing it is honestly hard to keep track of what day it is wen you dont have a regular job. I have to think about this a few times a day.

We moved out to Summerlin. Brandi wanted an area with trees so her Summerlin won over my Anthem (she said it looked like a ghost town, that is what i wanted). I think our neighborhood is okay. I think we could have done a little better. We had to make a decision quickly one day and so here we are. Seems like a lot of kids in our neighborhood. I dont mind that but I would honestly like to be where there are no kids (I know I sound like an old prude) but when you dont have any kids you want less distractions. The last house we lived in Michigan we had lots of kids by us and if we do have children I will move into an area with a bunch of kids for them to have friends to play with. Overall Summerlin looks really nice and it should be nice here.

I recommend that you go to the Gambler's Book Store off Charleston. This is the largest gambling bookstore anywhere. You may find some good reading that may help you in your quest. You'll be amazed at the volume of material available in all forms of gambling. See the link below.

- It is true no one is from here. I ask all the time and I have only ran into one person that says they were born here and she was 20 years old. Most have been here less than 5 years, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. The funny thing is the GF and I keep being told that we sound like we come from the midwest with our accents. I have never heard anyone say this to me in all of my life. Not sure midwesterners have accents but according to most here we do.

Did you notice the nametags the employees had at the Nugget? It had their name and where they came from. I saw only a couple from Vegas.

I don't know about midwest accents, but Chicago has one.

Good luck to you, Ice. It's going to be fun checking in here and seeing how you're doing. My advice, if I'm qualified to give any, would be to learn limit poker and spend a few hours a week grinding away at that. Mandalay Bay has some loose games with drunk tourists. And after that, you can always learn NL, but it's a tough animal. Sounds like you have the make-up to sustain a long stay in that town, but don't lose your Midwestern roots. And make sure you save a little time for that beautiful girl.

I know all about it. I have bought at least 15 books from them thru the years. I am a gambling book fanatic. In fact one of the guys who answers the phone actually reconigizies my address in Michigan everytime I call to place an order.

Funny you mention that though as that is somewhere I plan on visiting and stoppong in and saying hello this week. Probably spend a few bucks too while I am there.

Ice, don't forget to feed the pigeons when you get to the book store.

:lolBIG:

(Inside joke. You'll know what I mean when you get there.)

Your trip reminds me of when I moved from the Midwest to Phoenix in the middle of summer. It sure was an exciting time of seeing new things. Just wait a month or two when the weather gets nice and you start to get reports from friends back in Michigan of how the weather is getting cold.

I'm glad you GF was able to get work even if it is at the Evil Empire.

I hope you both do well there and find it to your liking. If not, you don't have to die there. As Illini found out, you can go home again.

If Billy is working, say hello for me(JEFF).........he is probably wondering where I disappeared to.

Ice--you will love this store. I made a point to stop there every two weeks if I could...........in all the years I was in Vegas. Learned a ton by doing so, and you will also.

Thanks buddy. Once again I apologize about the whole bash thing, weird nite and time just flew by. Would have loved to share stories with you but I am sure we will one day.

The thing with poker is what I am hearing from everyone around here is how easy the games are. Here is the big problem: I am the fish that everyone is talking about. I need to learn an effective type strategy that wins a little bit of money while I am learning the game. I have the time for it but not sure if I have th patience as I think this could take a long time to learn how to be a winning player. Trying to get fezzik to teach me his short stack strategy that he more or less guarantees win but it sounds like a true grind. I will probably try that first. I know another guy from the Rx who has more or less said he would teach me limit and like you says it is quite easy but like I said how long will it take for me to start winning any money.

Talked to a few well respected posters who live in town and they talk about playing blackjack and that it is the easiest game to make money at. I have decent knowledge of that game and it seems like something I could learn (counting). I will probably pick one or the other (poker or BJ) and go with that for a few weeks.

As for making it out here, I hope so. I dont plan on being here more than 2 years unless everything is perfect here and we love it. Ideally the whole sportsbetting world goes back to the neteller days and I would like to live a simpler area in the U.S. Somewhere with some land and tress, that has 4 seasons. as I love the changing of the seasons.

The goal is simple here for me/us, too make as much money as fast we can and learn as much +ev gambling type things along the way. I also hope to make some great contacts with the best of the best in this field. I love numbers and gambling/investing. It gives me a borderline high. I hope to always do something with it, be it with sports or maybe one day day trading other type markets. I hope to meet people that can help steer me in those directions.

the joke must have something to do with all of them (pigeons) I suppose? Funny you say that as GF and I laugh all the time about all the pigeons we have seen here. They usually will hold there ground until the last second when you walk about to them.

We didnt know anything about the vegas casino's when she applied but I have noticed a few giving us looks when we say Harrah's. I have noticed they arent loved by many around here.

I will really miss the fall. It is my favorite time of the year in Michigan. Give me 6 months worth of October's in any given year and I would be the happiest man on earth. But you are right about January I will be laughing at eveyone back home.

I was going to book stores at least once a week back in Michigan. I have a problem with buying too many books.

Cant wait to go there. Will mention that to Billy. I will stop back in with a report on how it goes there in this thread. Will be there by middle of next week for sure.

David Sklansky's stuff is very good for limit. I think there are three books, but start with Winning Small Stakes Hold 'em. It is pretty easy to understand, and you'll be playing winning poker within a week against the drunks. Like I said, I'm not a good player by any means, but once you learn the math, it's easy to beat almost all of the people that play low limit in Vegas. It might not be worth it to play 4-8 for you, but I think if you start there, with your passion and drive, you could move up to 10-20 pretty easily and quickly. It does get boring after awhile. But it's great fun to play when you want to and stay home when you don't.

Hey Ice glad to have you out here in vegas. I live up in Summerlin too, across 215 from RR. My wife and I have been here just about a year and love it. Give me a PM if you ever want someone to meet up with someone at RR. I am in the sportsbook just about all the time. Would love to have someone elses perspective on betting the days lines.

Try not to let this dominate your life, I know how it can do that. Went at this for 5-6 years solid , did very well and by the time Neteller went down, i was ready for a huge break because of the burnout. Basically haven't been back since March of last year. Probably won't be back until we get some of those advantages back offshore like we had. Don't even miss it yet to be honest and nobody went at this like I did.To many other projects on the horizon anyway. I'm sure you'll do Ok, but give yourself another out to break things up from time to time. Make sure to give a shout out to kermit, he can dig up some futures for you like no one else, good way to grind out some money on them.

RE,
I just e-mailed Kermit. Not sure if he lives in Vegas or not but after reading a lot of his posts I am pretty sure he does. Maybe you can throw a few good words in for me. Would love to talk to him, if only for a few minutes. :103631605
