Never have been religious and never will be. Is there a God? Maybe, but I personally don't care if there is or not. I don't believe in religion because I can most likely find something about every religion that I can't stand. When I have kids I will let them choose their own religion if they choose to do so when they're old enough, but will definitely be disappointed if they can't see the BS in it, and do choose to be religious. I won't discourage them from it though because everyone needs to make their own choices on what to believe.

All kidding aside, Roadie, this is a perspective of yours i can dig. I never have met a Devil worshiper, but from what i have heard, devil worshiping is the worship of the self. I wouldnt worry about those cats too much. I think however your acceptance of henotheism flies in the face of bible thumping Christianity or any other religious beliefs dead set on monotheism. Barman gets flack from Zit but in truth, Barmans beliefs aren't damning or judgmental or harsh...thus he has a much easier time living life outside of people from his beliefs. And since we live in a world with thousands of said beliefs...its pretty arrogant to think a persons own is the only righteous way. Either way, i think your onto something here.... well said.
Yeah Thanks....I guess you'd call me a religious Liberal of sorts short of worshipping evil...Too much blood shed over Religion & no reason for it...Remember Belfast Ireland 20-25 years ago?.. Now that was really stupid.

Ayuh...the main reason I'm attempting to live this lifestyle is because I've learned that God Herself is neither damning, judgemental or harsh.

As a someone who is a member of Fundamentalist sect of Christianity, ZIT is pretty confident that God is all three at one time or another. Thus his honest and sincere finger wagging towards others because - since I figure ZIT is a fairly regular guy - he doesn't want people he knows to become subject to God's damnation, judgement or harsh punishments.

Fella like me comes in and shares that there are many sects of Christianity who don't perceive God in this fashion and I think it throws him off his game a bit. For if God is truly non-damning, non-judgemental and ever loving and ever forgiving, well then we're each wasting a lot of valuable energy if we spend it wagging our fingers at one another for ANY reason.

Thats right...As long as you believe in a higher power & it is good that's all that counts...Never been a drop of blood spilled over Religion in this Country that I know of...I used to work for Mayflower transit moving people & I can't remember if they were moonies or what they were but they were in Fairfield Iowa..Moved a teacher in that religion from NYC to Fairfield...I thought they were rather wierd but I thought if their higher power is good & it's not like a cult of complete control (Like Jim Jones) over their members then what can I say about it?...Religion has to have a balance like everything else in this world.

Oh, and since it will inevitably come up again, "She" manifests Herself to me personally as a female, thus my use of that gender pronoun.

For many others, I believe He honestly manifests as a male personage, thus the popular perception that "God is a Male".

And of course this disclosure inevitably leads to the next question for which the answer is, "Ann Margaret."

And I'm talking late 60s, 1970s Ann Margaret, not the older almost grandmother MILF Ann Margaret from movies like Grumpy Old Men.

Why Ann?

Well I figure God is a fairly smart sort and takes on the form which will be most pleasantly received by the acolyte.

This belief strenghened when a few years back I shared this with one of my dearest mentors, Peter Mc, who at the time was a 52 year old gay man.

He smiled at my mention of Ann Margaret and replied, "Well for me, since I'm a good Jewish boy who wants to make his momma proud, most days it's Jon Stewart."

But how was God created, or who created God? If no one created God or God created himself, what existed before God? If there was nothing, what is "nothing?" How do you go infinitely through time backwards? Doesn't every thing need a beginning? How do you or how does your soul live for eternity? How long is eternity? What if you want eternity to end? Can you end it? Do you lose all free will after you die?

What if you do not believe in God, but your loved ones do? Are they punished because you do not go to the afterworld? Do they care once they are there? If they don't, does this life even matter? What if they do care?

Why do other nonhuman species become extinct? Do they live on in the afterworld? If not, are they only here as human resources? Why were they created? Why were there species on earth before humans? Do other species have emotion, do they have a God?

John 3:12
I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?

Jesus said this when he is trying to explain that people do not accept the Word when he speaks of earthly things? How will he be accepted if he speaks of heavenly matters (or matters not of this world)? of course no one would understand and be convinced, it would seem even more outrageous than the claims he was making (i.e. miracles, baptism)

NOT to mention the prophesy that the Jews will reject their OWN SAVIOUR and HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE will be scattered upon the earth until the return of christ when they will accept that he is savior. I dont know any group of people that so adamently deny that jesus is the christ. coincidence?

Well my own belief is Christianity & I believe God to be a Male spirit for many reasons..Biggest reason is in Genesis "the apple incident" but yeah Ann Margaret did have a hell of a bod but to worship a Woman or her bod is way too Liberal for me....God is a spirit of purest form of Positiveness & good & thats no bod or human form but a chunk of God within us in the soul that will rise out of our bodies after death & it's a male spirit in my book but hey whatever floats your boat Barman.

so all the people in Jim Jones camp was insane as was Corresh and the like, among countless others but people 2000 years ago were perfectly sane..for doing the SAME EXACT thing? Obviously the ride for trip around the track of circular logic is back. I love roller coasters! Im going back to work.

:nohead: :missingte  :103631605:103631605:103631605

You are missing a GLARING difference. the jim jones, muslim fanatics, etc who die for there religion because THEY DO BELIEVE from what they have been told, taught, read, etc..

The Christian apostles died for what THEY BELIEVED because IT WAS WHAT THEY HAD SEEN WITH THEIR OWN EYES, THEY TOUCHED JESUS and spoke with him after the resurrection!! Surely they would not have died for what they believed if they knew it to be a lie. They had no earthly benefit in trying to spread the gospel.

The problem with Barman's philosophy, is that evil does exist in this
world (even though his cult teaches that it doesn't). And, there
are very evil people in this world that do very evil heinous things.
God is a perfectly just God, and he will mete out perfect justice, of
that I am confident.

It is a nice thought to think that all of humankind is infinitely loved
by a big smiley God in the sky that just wants to cuddle with
everyone, but people don't want to talk about a God of love
that is also a God of justice.

We all cry out for justice in this world, why shouldn't we also be
zealous about infinite and perfect justice?

Respond to what? You are taking the word of someone 2,000 years ago who wrote a book about taking to a man from the dead. Now, if i were to tell you i spoke to a dead man and he told me things, would you believe me? If your answer is no....then why would you believe someone who wrote something 2,000 years ago? Somehow is that more credible?

:lolBIG:

I mean you talk of all this touching and seeing with their own eyes... how do you know what they seen? Because...they wrote it? This is the epitome of circular logic. Im not asking you to not believe in your beliefs, im just asking you to acknowledge and disengage from the perpetual circular arguments.

Actually the Bible was written by 40 authors over 1500 years. The point
that you continue to miss, is that Jesus' followers watch him get
crucified by the Romans, but then all of a sudden a few weeks later
are emboldened to turn the world upside-down and give their lives for the cause, because they watched a crucifiction? And, his brother James and Saul of Tarsus who were both skeptics were also martyred for the cause. Is this because they watched their Master tortured? No, it's because Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to them (like he said he was
going to do).

I mentioned in my previous explanation that the more popular perception is for folks to kneel to a male God.

Why am I not surprised that no-one of the bible-thumpers has even attempted to answer a single one of these questions? ;-)

Believe me, I did read this thread, and I did read your post. I did not find an answer to tepkergs questions in your post. I don't know how you think about that but where I live 'You would not believe what I'm telling you anyway' is NOT an answer to a question.

so what you are saying is that bible thumpers should have the answers to all of lifes mysteries even though god said that he could not explain them in a way that humans would understand?
