so what you are saying is that bible thumpers should have the answers to all of lifes mysteries even though god said that he could not explain them in a way that humans would understand?

I find this a bit convenient, dont you agree? I mean objectively think about it. All those said mysteries above, the dinosaurs and what not - nothing. But anything that int biological or logical that defy human logic...we got that.

Virgin birth - check
Resurrection - check
Earth created before the Universe - check
Making Fish from Bread - check

Earth created before the Universe - check
Please present the biblical passage that states that the earth was created before the universe.

Never heard that one proposed by any biblical scholar, or creationist. Not to mention that it makes absolutely no sense.

How can any human being deny the existence of God?

The evidence of his existence is everywhere. Athiests will tell you God does not exist because it cant be proved-its a question of faith- but when asked who created the universe cannot answer.
Do they think it wasnt created? That one day it just was? That kind of ignorance I will never understand.

Heres what I believe. God created the universe. Every religion wants to think THEY know that their version of God is the correct one.

I say - there cant be all these versions of God and all of them be corect can there? Then there is only the fact that all the religions are talking about the same supreme being. God to some may be the father of Budda- of Muhammed- of Zeus- of Jesus- of anyone they want you to believe. It makes no difference to me.

Most of them have to be wrong. That is axiomatic. Only the existence of God is an absolute. Thats all I believe I am expected to "get" - and I do.

The rest- who we are taught represented God? Lived on the Earth-and there are many- most with the same anecdotal evedience attached- the way they died - were ressurected. What they have you fight and die for them in the name of- is not.

So everything after that one absolute is not clear enough for me - by intent or not. I should not have to believe any one religion over all others. I know that Man is a liar and cannot be trusted - especially men who profess to know the answer to which their religion begs the question of whom it is I should be waiting to show up at the end.

So- I do not believe in anything else but that God exists.

Whether Jesus was invented - or Budda- or the hundreds of others really existed as a form of or "sun/son" of God is my only question -that it is given a special place in those peoples religion for selfish reasons is quite clear- and rightly so- but it will never be absolutely clear. The older I get- the more I know that what man expects me to believe about my fellow man concerning religion is based more on politics and the desire for power over the minds of the masses than their enlightenment. If they are willing to lie about my fellow man why wouldnt they lie about Gods true representative on this rock - if he ever had or needed one?

As an in God trusting and believing man- I believe you need only believe that no one but God could have created all this to pass the test of faith and be loved by God for this belief.

That is all I can trust is the truth. Religion- or what passes for it the last 2000 years- may be nothing but a complete pack of lies.

God doesnt need a lawyer to speak for him.

God is above all this petty bickering over who could be said to best represent Him.

Thats what makes him God. I am sure he forgives us all for the misunderstandings though...:pope:

What if God is an advanced race of beings that created this computer program we call the Universe? Our consciousness interacts with the program. When we die we go back outside the program. Hell, we could even be the advanced race of beings and are playing a simulation game.

What I'm saying is that as long as your religion cannot answer the questions presented by terpkeg, how can you claim that atheism must be wrong because it cannot explain everything? Specifically, But how was God created, or who created God? If no one created God or God created himself, what existed before God? If there was nothing, what is "nothing?". One of the main arguments against atheism seems to be that science cannot explain yet the very beginning of the universe. But as long as religion cannot explain how God came into existence and what was before him, this argument is worthless.

I have never said athiesm must be wrong, but in my life experiences and from what logic tells me it makes more sense to ME that there is an intelligent designer.

I would argue that god exists outside the realm of time, since he created time when he created all the other dimensions, he says he is the alpha and omega so there is no beginning and no end.

So a christian would answer that question by saying god is and was always around and exists outside of the constraints of time.

You are free to believe in god, of course, but I doubt that this belief comes from logic.

And you believe that because it stands in the Bible, right? Another classic circular argument.
So Christians believe that God is a being for which no rules whatsoever apply, and the only "proof" for this comes from a book that's several thousand years old. And you speak of logic??

Preussen,

Your ignorant biases are so blatant.

"I doubt that this believe comes from logic"

Really? So, you are walking down the street and you find a brilliant
brand of watch you had never seen on the sidewalk, similar to a
Rolex. Would you think to yourself, "hmmm what an impressively made
watch, I wonder who the designer/manufacturer is?" or would
you say "hmm, look what evolved out of nothing from a pile of
swamp goo?"

Zit, in case no-one ever told you, when you use similes they should at least be in some way comparable to the situation discussed. Of course I do not believe that an obviously man-made object has evolved in some way. Just the same as I, when looking at the beautiful shapes of stalactites and -mites in a dripstone cave, do not believe that some creator crawled into the cave and carved the shapes out of the stone because I know how they came into existence naturally.

If logic tells you that whatever science cannot explain yet is proof for the existence of a God then your logic works fundamentally different than mine. I guess you are one of those people who saw for example thunder and lighting as proof God's existence when it couldn't be otherwise explained yet.

Preussen yet again shows that he is totally ignorant. The whole point
of a simile is to compare two unlike things - by definition.

Nice try, but you again prove to be basically, an internet smart-ass,
with no clue.

You already admitted to believing 100% in this statement by Dawkins:

"Humans have always wondered about the meaning of life...
life has no higher purpose than to perpetuate the survival of DNA...
life has no design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but
blind pitiless indifference."

No evil and no good huh? Brilliant. Simply brilliant.

I suppose you also believe like Dawkins that aliens came and blew a
load of sperm on our planet which seeded life here?

Actually my belief comes from researching the bible and several other sources outside of the bible. What I have found is that there is a lot of evidence that points to the gospels being true. No finding in archaeology has ever discounted the bible as being untruthful, but actually backs up that events described in the bible as factual.

I do not believe that you would ever research the claims in the bible with an open mind. I have done a lot of reading and the LOGICAL explanation for me would be that the events in the Gospels are true. It would take pages of writing for me to relay all the proof for you and you still would say that im not being logical so I will not waste my time.

You obviously have an interest in this topic and I would suggest you explore both sides.

Zit - as usual, you are entirely unable to make sensible reply. Perhaps simile is not the right word (I never claimed my English is perfect), but my point is clear, I think - if you try to illustrate your opinion with an example that simply does not apply the you achieve exactly nothing.
As to Dawkin's quote - we already had that topic. I still hold that you entirely misunderstand what Dawkins meant to say. I tried to eplain it to you extensively but you just refused to listen, I'm certainly not going to do it again.

Cash - no finding in archeology has ever discounted the Bible as being untruthful? I'm sorry, but if you really believe that then perhaps you should not go and tell other people to explore both sides with an open mind.

Preussen,

You are a complete poser. Try posting something of value on here
once instead of lame rhetoric and deflection. Responding to you
is such a waste of my time, I should put you back on ignore.

what is the archaeological evidence that discredits the bible? if you know of it you could probably be rich and famous
