The worst part it, it actually wouldn't have been too bad in the Hex. Julian de Guzman went out and stated Monday night that IF Canada were to qualify for the Hex, he pretty much guaranteed that his little and MUCH better brother Jonathan would suit up for Canada. Then went on to hint that Hoilett would likely be included in that. Which I heard from a pretty reliable source that it wasn't just a rumor, it was the truth. With Jonathan de Guzman (Swansea City) and Junior Hoilett (QPR) this team would have gotten a huge upgrade where they needed it most (on the attack) and they likely would have qualified in 4th place in the Hex and gone on to play a 2 game winner take all playoff with New Zealand with qualification on the line.

not surprise Hart resigns...thanks god....i know he wasn't born in Canada but he kinda was Canadian....can we FOR THE LOVE OF GOD hire outside of our country....we should try and find a manager that has proven himself in the Under 21 or Under 19 and show guys like Hoilett and Jonny Guzman that the focus on youth is important. With those guys and some of our U19 players maturing it could be a real team...but not if a manager has a age and experience win mentality...i'm glad he is gone...too bad they let him step down instead of axing him..

I've said it before but maybe we can get the women's manager to switch to the mens' side.....i wouldn't if i was him...we are a mess.....gl USA in the hex now i guess.....

far too busy to post reasoning today....i am hoping to look at the latter matches but we will see....i will say the bochum and duisburg german II games look like over chances..certainly with both paying around even a good shot to at least push with 1 over ... but i think road sides take both matches but get scored against...1-2 ingolstadt and 1-3 hertha is my thinking but finland footy and the pursuit of CL drew me into their league. As for Kaiserlautern you just can't trust the team at those odds or to win by more than a goal. So German II day off for me.....Both HJK and TPS can win the championship and are playing against clubs that are safe from relegation but no real chance for europa. Mariehamn could sneak in but i dont think they are worthy of their standings to be honest. I wish i could type more but I have to leave in 10 mins ....

Finland - Veikkausliiga (all 11:30 EST starts)
Mariehamn v TPS
Tps pk -135 - 1.35 to win 1 unit

Vaasa v HJK Helsinki
HJK -0.5 -1.0 - 1.18 to win 1 unit

Sweden Superettan - 1:20 EST Start
Brommapojkarna + Osters double -110 - 1.10 to win 1 unit
if betting were this easy we'd all win but two home sides fighting for promotion against two clubs safely playing out the rest of the games. Osters has the champioship wrapped up but 11-0 with 2 draws at home there is no reason to think they'll want to spoil the celebration here. Bromma to me in the banker of the day ---- i hope so anyway...gl

spend a bit of time capping matches for the CL this week....no time for much reasoning...

Champions Leauge
Barcelona v Celtic
both to score +135 - 0.74 to win 1 unit
celtic -0.5 goals pays +124 so hopefully USA books have team totals because i know books don't have the BTTS. The over and barca AH are set to high. Barca are deep so replacing players is usually no big deal but they have their entire backline injured/suspended. Celtic have been known to have a zero offence approach but knowing barca will be weaker in the back perhaps a bit more creativity. Barca always can be pegged due to their offensive style..they might be more conservative because of the injuries but to me they won't fear a loss/draw so same style. Just counter-attack, free kicks and corners might hurt them today. 3-1 is my thinking.....

Spartak Moscow v Benfica
over 2.5 goals -109 - 1.09 to win 1 unit
spartak played two matches in the CL losing both 3-2. Benfica two unders but the match vs Celtic was very hard to score when one team has no desire to play any offense at all. And they lost 0-2 to barca. Spartak 8 overs in their last 10 matches and Benfica 7 overs in 10. Spartak seemed to be playing much better but then 3 straight losses to Celtic, CSKA and Anzhi. Three tough teams (if Celtic counts as tough) but signs they are a step below what is needed to win CL/Europa matches. So to me Benfica pk is a solid play..but with a long travel, colder weather and if Spartak want any Europe play after this group stage a must win desperate team...all out attack I think for Spartak who will be playing their 3rd choice keeper as well.

Shakhtar v Chelsea
under 2.5 goals -101 - 1.01 to win 1 unit
chelsea's 1 road match was an over but it was 1-0 vs nord until around the 80th min so this really could have been an easy under but nord no doubt started pressing for goals. Since 08-09 Chelsea have played 1 over and 2 unders in 3 road matches. And their style to advance, something city might learn one day, is to play tight road matches 0-1 0-0 1-1 games and win at home. Shakhtar will fancy this one - solid at home vs english sides and chelsea might be looking slightly ahead to the Man Utd match on the weekend. Since they only manage a draw at home vs Juve a loss here could prove disasterous for Chelski. I think the over should be a slight favourite as both sides can score and will want 3 points in a group of CL death part B....but i think it will be a much more conservative typical Chelsea road match. 1-0 0-1 or maybe 1-1 at most.

GL today..record should be updated some time this week......

i will admit all of me was cheering for the BTTS bet to lose once it ws 0-1..oh well...

is the fix in over in turkey? Cluj 0-1 but up a man, gala misses a penalty and subs elmander and alintop...i will admit my knowledge of turkey football is nil and maybe i am thinking of their past but alintop and elmander must be still good? hmmmm......maybe gala are just terrible ... someone could have a lot of money had they parlayed these HT scores....celtic draw, braga, shakhtar, nords draw, and cluj.

cluj keeper is playing match of his life. you guys are getting out of control with the fix talk...it's almost a daily claim now

shitty penalty but well saved regardless. rain is killing the match but gala is all over them.

elmander was stretchered off after a collision and altintop injured his hip and couldn't continue so 2 really important guys missing 2h. my over in trouble...

well I keep typing that the fix was a mini-joke because of the goof balls here calling matches fixed...esp involving team Canada but i am glad to know what happened in turkey with the subs. Shame gala couldn't hit that Pk as the 2nd half probably sails over....red card and miss pk - tough to get overs when shit like that happens. They say it evens out but i doubt it. Chelsea useless late goal ruined a perfect day (barca scoring ruined a perfectly good draw too)

Gl tomorrow -

i don't know if i will be around tomorrow prior to the start of the zenit match so posting early...i will say that the PSG match looks like a trap to me. I don't think I'll take Zagreb +1 but there is no reason to think PSG doesn't steam roll Zagreb. But getting plus money on the -1 is very very fishy...enough to keep my away.

Wednesday October 24th
Champsion Leauge
Zenit v Anderlecht
Zenit -1 -126 - 1.26 to win 1 unit
needing a 2 goal winner might be tough but i think zenit can still qualify to the knockout round and will have to do it at the expense of Anderlecht. This is something Zenit did in the europa vs anderlecht. Zenit had a tremendous Europe record end with their recent loss to Milan and have 3 wins at home vs Belgium sides. Anderlecht is well known as a poor CL road side and much like Benfica - long trip, cold weather and hard pitch. And there is no doubt Zenit is better than Spartak and Benfica are better than Anderlecht. Of course betting isn't that easy but another desperate Russian side at home in a CL match.....gotta go with the Russians. With Malaga in form and AC Milan not great I do think Zenit can still finish 2nd and advance...but a must win (obviously) here. 2-0 3-0 home win i think.......
malaga at evens will be tempting too....i am hoping to be looking at matches early afternoon and post a couple more...gl

i consider the over in russia and glad i skipped it as it is rainy like mad out there...i think that would favour the home side as it is always miserable in russia...belgium too i guess...

UEFA Champions League
Dortmund v Real Madrid
over 3 goals +115 - 0.85 to win 1 unit
no question all of me just wants another classic CL match like the City/Real or the united./braga...both teams certainly can score and real on the road are not really to be trusted. Personally I see Dortmund taking this one ... i don't think winning vs Ajax/Rayo turns around a road season after losing to Getafe, Sevilla and Barca. I think Celtic proved yesterday that you can still keep up with the spanish giants early in the group stage. In the end maybe Real nicks it but not without conceeding at least one goal. Dortmund are a nice over side in the Bundesliga but not in the CL .. 0 overs in 2 matches. But certianly they know goals will be key to get any result as Real can score at will. Marcelo, Alvaro Arbeloa and Fabio Coentrao out for madrid so defense might be in trouble...i am taking the word on Goetze starting so i hope so for dormund....3-2 would be awesome but i do think we might only push a 2-1 dortmund win....

Porto v Kiev
Porto -1 -114 - 1.14 to win 1 unit
i guess it is an obvious play as Porto is one of the best clubs in Europe and Kiev have struggled away from the Ukraine. Porto already a home win vs PSG and Kiev lost to PSG 4-1. Kiev should grab the EUROPA spot but i think will continue to struggle against the top sides like PSG and Porto. I wish i could add more but i have to go again....should be back before the kickoff of the gunners match.

leans with the rest but no bet:
arsenal v schalke under 2.5, 3.0 goals
PSG -1 but i must say big time trap game and PSG owners are super rich for a reason. (just kidding of course). PSG do play Nancy then a cup match vs Marseille so perhaps a slight overlook on their part against a desperate but lousy Zagreb side. Draw here wouldn't effect qualifying to the knockout stages....my guess is a draw and a lot of money loss...or won.
city and montpellier should win too but i don't trust city on the road or mont P anywhere.

no clue on the others....GL

man hulk looks like he signed big money to play for citeh and not zenit....he and Kerzhakov remind me of anelka and drogba. No way Zenit does much in europe with those two egos together.. lucky to get a push for what i watch in the last 25 mins......

Couldn't agree more. Hulk looked very poor today. He went for goal any chance he got, not once hitting the target. He couldn't locate his passes and was dispossessed far too easily. He doesn't scare me on Zenit, there's already locker room problems as the Russians were unhappy with the big money moves to bring in Hulk and Witsel. They've struggled in the Russian League since then too.

i guess 3 pushes is better than 3 losers but almost makes waking up not worth it today...esp 0-2 schalke......we went from clear group winners to maybe europa....I highly doubt i'd watch an Arsenal Europa match....

England Championship
Cardiff v Burnley
Over 3 goals +108 - 0.92 to win 1 unit
perhaps asking 4 is a bit much but burnley's last two road matches had 7 goals in them. Cardiff has 5 over 2.5 goals in 6 home matches but just 1 over 3.5 goals. And Burnley 5 over 2.5 gpal road matches in 6 with 3 over 3.5 goals. Cardiff are a perfect 6-0 at home and in the end should win but it is near impossible to keep Burnley off the board. Only Huddersfield early in the seaon (3 days before a cup match that burnley usually took seriously), Burnley failed to scored. Cardiff have given up a goal in 4 of their last 5 - the clean sheet was a 3-0 win. 2-1 realy seems like the right score here but with burnley it could certainly become a 5+ game and Cardiff will play that style.

Peterborough United v Derby
over 2.5, 3.0 goals -106 - 1.06 to win 1 unit
when you are short on time to cap games just taking p'boro home overs is a good play. 4 overs in 6 home matches so far this year. h2h in p'boro the last two matches 3-2 and 0-3. Derby just 2 overs in 4 road matches but the two overs did come in their last 2 matches. After losing 7 to start the year P'boro have won 3 of their last 5 and although too early to matter they could escape the relegation zone with a win and i think they could take this one. Of P'boro 3 wins, 2 have seen 4 goals...something similar today i think...3-1

Leeds v Birmingham
Leeds -0.25 -114 - 1.14 to win 1 unit
Leeds 3 wins and 3 draws in their last 6 matches - at home they had 3 straight wins including a Cup win vs EPL side everton. Last round at home they only managed a draw vs Charlton but being midweek results like that happen. Birmingham just 1 win in 6 - a couple of draws. Birminham 1-2-3 on the road beating Birghton and drawing Millwall and Not'ham Forest. Hudders and Cardiff already with wins and I think Leeds considers itself a promotion candidate and need to win games like this. Form and at home is in leeds favour..birminham tend to play draw style games so first goal would be huge for us.

-----
i think Arsenal might take the two straight losses out on QPR today and the over 3 is tempting ...

good ol' P'boro scores on the last play (looks like it) to at least make a saturday profit....if you bet p'boro overs you are never out of it until the final whistle goes....

German Bundesliga II
FSV Frankfurt v Jahn Regensburg - 8:30 EST
Frankfurt +115 - 0.86 to win 1 unit
i don't fully understand the odds here...frankfurt has struggled of late drawing 1 and losing 3 in their last 4 matches. But 3 of them have been road matches were they have always struggled and the draw came against a tough Paderborn side at home. In fact at home Frankfurt 3 wins and 1 draw beating Hertha, Aue and St Pauli. Jahn is a promotion side with 1 win and 4 losses in 5 road matches. Jahn's only road win came with a 90th min goal vs fellow promotion side Sandhausen. I don't think Frankfurt is a top half of the table side but Aue, Braun all winning at home leads me to think Frankfurt can get back on track and get a win...the -0.25 is a safer play at -114

Union Berlin v Paderborn
over 2.5 goals -119 - 1.19 to win 1 unit
massive game for two clubs trying to get back into the promotional race...i think at the beginning of the year both sides had thoughts of promotion. Union's 0 wins in 5 matches to start the year put them way behind...but since then 3 wins and 2 draws and a win here could see them 6 points behind kaiser for a promotional playoff spot. Too early to really worry about stuff like this but both sides will not want a draw and stay far behind. Paderborn had a good run going but 0 wins in their last 4 see them 9 points out of the playoff spot and tied with Union. With the form it is clearly a home advantage and a Union win. I went with goals because 3 of the last 4 h2h in Berlin have been overs, Paderborn 7 overs in 10 matches, 6 overs in 10 for Union. Both teams to score pays -150 which isn't all that high but high enough to convince me that both do score...a draw would see both sides still 8 points back so although 1-1 has been a popular scoreline in II lately I think we will see a winner....the heavy lean is towards union at 2-1 but 1-2 wouldn't surprise me as I think Paderborn in the long run is the better side.

I cannot trust St Pauli with a bet - the old Pauli would run over a poor road Dresden but I thought that a couple of times and 2 draws don't turn a season around.

English Premier League
Everton v Liverpool
Everton pk -120 - 1.20 to win 1 unit
There is no sign that Liverpool is a team worthy of top 6 talk and being a classic merseyside derby Everton will have a lot of fight in them. Liverpool have won 4 out of 5 in the right part of Liverpool (everton home) so they will be confident. But Liverpool played Thursday and both Gerard and teary-eyed Saurez played ad it was a very hard faught match. Everton sit 6 points clear of Liverpool and 2 wins and a draw at home. Usually very slow starters they are coming into this match with plenty more confidence about their team and already beat Man Utd at home. It might be an unfair stat since they played teams like Man Citeh, Man Utd and Arsenal but liverpool have yet to win coming off a Europa match these year - losing two and drawing 2. Everton two draws vs QPR and Wigan and even though they were on the road still poor results. A draw makes sense but I think it is a very fair statement to suggest Everton is a true team with much more quality and i think should win here. Liverpool has been getting better but coming off a thursday match seems to be a tough task for them. 2-0 last few matches in Everton for either side and 2-0 here makes sense.

GL if you play - sorry about not keeping up with the record - i'll make a point to get it back to date tomorrow.

Good Chance I will be gone all morning and most of the afternoon...surpisingly enough i will free for the 2 hours to watch the arsenal match..haha...i will say about the Gunners that we really should beat Reading. Odds are tasty too...our mixture of youngsters and season pro is actually looking good to me. With question marks all over the place in the front I think some guys will want to shine..reading better then their record and cup matches are always tough to win on the road. Man utd on the weekend would keep me off this game though....no doubt overlooking is a possibility.

England Capitol One Cup
Leeds v Southampton 3:45 EST
over 2.5, 3.0 goals -116 - 1.16 to win 1 unit
probably obvious bet of the day but that doesn't mean it won't hit. Soton 8 overs in 9 league matches and in the two cups 4-1 and 2-0 winners. Leeds have been better for overs on the road but 8 overs in 13 matches with 3 home overs in 7. 4 straight Leeds under but so far in the cup 3 overs in 3 matches. I do wish I could wait for lineups but any sign of a weaker soton lineup I think Leeds would be a great bet. But Soton have shown they can score but defense is a problem. Leeds already knocked off Everton 2-1 and i think same score...hopefully a 4th for the full winner.

i think sunderland will win too but no bet here. Odds are a bit short and a few injury concerns...that one i would really need the lineups - if i make it home closer to kickoff i might post them.

German Cup aka DFB Polka
TSV Havelse v Bochum 3:30 EST
over 2.5 goals -116 - 1.16 to win 1 unit
Havelse pk +190 - 0.52 to win 1 unit
there is no doubt staying in german II will be bochum's top priority and Havelse beat Nurnberg in the 1st round. Just a friendly but Havelse already beat Bochum this year too....Bochum have 9 points along with several teams fighting relegation and will have a very tough match vs Cottbus on the weekend. Bochum generaly doesn't get out of the 2nd round in the cup (although they did last year). The fact that a II team is just even money vs a team 2 full divisions below leads me to think a mini-surprise will happen. I realize competition is different but Havelse undefeated in 8 while Bochum haven't won in 7. I took the over because german cup and overs always work well and i don't see Bochum keeping a clean sheet. The +0.5 is a smarter bet but going with the big odds.

i dont really see any bets that i like without more news...maybe i can get a quick play in the morning but probably not. I am hoping to be home before 3 EST so maybe i can post one more play or two.

GL

ps arsenal 18 man sqaud was announced with giroud walcott and our best two strikers Chamakh and Arshavin....a lot of hype the last two days over Gnabry starting....i think walcott would come in late if we need a rescue. I like our lineup and maybe our best chance at silverware. I think we win but no bet because i am usually bias.

i wonder if wegner has finally figured out that arshavin and chamakh do not belong on an epl side...even if it is poor price - just sell them already. Just terrible display...not that the capitol one cup matters i guess....who needs silverware when you can turn a profit. gl as well lostyet..

what a crazy match....arshavin and chamakh ended up playing alright..esp in the end of course. But against the top sides there is no way those guys can compete. I will agree with all Arsene bashers that the ref should have blown the whistle at least a full min before the equalizer. I would like to think a comeback can lift a side but we play man utd and schalke in germany next so we can easily lose the next two. Hopefully Chelsea gives Man Utd as good as reading did to us. It's an all EPL Carling Cup day tomorrow so probably no bets there...hard to know lineups with these EPL sides even after reading managers press conferences. Looking at german cup matches tonight...

stoppage time meaningless Pk saved the day for me -

game of the damn year!!!!! WOW! That was the best match I've ever seen I think. I've never seen anything like that before. And Arshavin and Chamakh end up being the hero's? You couldn't script this stuff.

Walcott scoring in 'Fergie time' too is classic. What a game, I'm so happy I stuck with it even after Arsenal went 4-0 down. Instant classic.
