Maybe the cop can sue the hell out of ATL. What an awful termination, no investigation.

Just shows who is running things and what ideas are ascendant.

The tax payers are gonna pay - if he wants his job back I assume he will be able to get it back - though the DA is contemplating charging this officer with some for of homicide which has zero - literally zero chance of a conviction

Watching the Atlanta mayor speak, who summarily fired the officer without any due process, was like listening to a junior high school student. Clearly not the brightest bulb. The city leaders should speak out to black Americans and remind them that it is not acceptable to tackle police officers, punch officers, and violently resist police officers. I heard the idiots at the scene yelling that the police were harassing the black man. Oops, the police were responding to a 911 call of a car blocking the drive thru. The guy was obviously drunk, failed a roadside sobriety test and in fact blew .109 BAL and was being lawfully arrested.

you forgot the part about him tazing the police

sexual education is taught in school - police encounters needs to be taught in school - why not? can't hurt

assuming they have his driver's license info, could easily just arrest him at a later date rather than shooting him

I didn’t take a particular stance on this other than saying it was justified but cops need to be retrained because I agree with another poster saying it’s nice if something harmless doesn’t end in death. The guy is drunk then he’s not in his right mind. But you know he has a taser.... not a gun....

Thats like practice vs a game. We’re talking about practice. Practice. We’re talking about a taser. A taser. Might as well be a toy gun with two cops with real guns who hang out on the shooting range all day. Just would be nice to see these cops all not fat and slow about to fall over...but they pull out their gun(the only thing they’re good at because they hang out at a range all day) and they shoot to kill. If you can kill when you shoot, then you can put someone to the ground with a couple bullets to the legs. Just saying it wasn’t a equal playing field.

If I have a taser and you shoot me with a gun and neither of us are cops, I would be willing to bet that you are doing time. I have a taser bro. Females carry those in their purses. Come on act right

Good points, especially your last one.
This is all so unfortunate.

And let him drive home drunk and crash into some innocent people?

27 year old, seems like a big man.

He threw 2 cops to the ground.

Wrestled with them violently.

Punched em both with power.

Stole a weapon.

Ran.

Turned and ran towards the cop... could have snapped the cops neck in an instant.

This is ok with you? How many felonies did he commit? OK to risk the cops life when he was charged he should let the large man do whatever he wished?

No way you automatically say it’s racially motivated. So every single instance an African commits these violent crimes he can always count on being protected by “hate crime”?

Please explain.

Good grief. Since ur born u r raised to respect police , do not break laws, do not run from them , do not fight them , do not shoot at them, do not tase them , u r a criminal and likely will get shot. End of story. Game over. Next , not even an argument

The driver's license from the video was issued from Ohio. He wasn't worth driving 500 miles to apprehend later. He won a stupid prize for doing something stupid.

No, you are dead wrong - I'm certain this crowd was not raised to respect police or respect laws - I guarantee you that

well he obv ran away
so no he wouldnt be driving

if they were really concerned they could have offered to drive him home or uber

Uber?

After he passed out & disrupted the line at a business, lied but tested positive for intoxication, wrestled & punched them both, stole a weapon, charged the officer again?

And why not a limo?

And if they just “let him go” he’d go back for his car still dangerous, drunk on his ass.

there are two distinct points. first, rayshard was not right to drive drunk, resist arrest, assaulting the officers, or using a taser against them. second, all those things together still don't warrant a death sentence under the court of law.

can't just shoot people with hopes to arrest them.
