walked the trail behind the house this mornin,(thurs) 32 minutes worth.but heres the kicker,i was carryin 3o extra pounds...put 3,10 lb weights in my backpack, and srapped it on.....think i need to invest in a vest.the backpack ive got wont hold much more, and i plan on gettin up to 50 pounds, within a month or two...carryin the 30 pounds, wasnt as hard on me as the first time i carried 20.....im findin that the key to gettin stronger from liftin weights, carryin weights, etc,is to give yourself plenty of recovery time.....in strength trainin,i never do the same exercise on consecutive days...if i wear the backpack and do hills today, tomorrow, if i wear the backpack, ill make sure and not do any hills, then the next day,i take a break...occasionally,i take 2 days off from cardio, and when i resume walkin im always much stronger......if im not too sore tomorrow,my goal is to walk a mile at the soccer field, with 30 pounds in my backpack.....'keep the continue'
sportsrmylife, before i logged in post what i was goin to do today,i was thinkin about puti that backpack on,and was already gettin uncomfortable...it hasnt bothered my lower back yet,but it was really hard on my shoulders...too much weight.the straps would dig into my skin too much....im goin this mornin to check out a vest, and probably get one, head out to the soccer field, and see how much i can carry, when the weight is balanced.......im very curious to see what 50 lbs feels like......45 degrees here in berea ky...ive set on my ass all weekend, time to refocus, and get back on track....ps,ive ate so much fkn halloween candy, ill be glad when its gone......fkn tootsie rolls!!! lol, 'keep the continue'If you are going to use weights while walking/jogging I would advice you to get an actually weight vest and this is why. When you put weights in a backpack the weight is not located over your center of gravity but it actually behind you. To compensate you are going to lean forward a bit which is going to slowly put stress on your lower back. With a weight vest the weight is directly over your center of gravity with weight in front and behind you. You may see it as an investment now but you are going to put your workouts into overdrive as you will have a strength building workout.
Good job.
