Went to the doctor today and weighed in at 255.2 down from 283.5 (28.3 lbs.) in 5 weeks.


Will start my own thread as motivation, thanks for your support HOG!!!!

joining a gym down the street monday am.

how do i learn what to eat and what not to eat?

should i do the nutrisystem thing so it's easy?

After you join the gym go to a bookstore and buy a men's fitness and mens health. These are the 2 best mags for meals, programs, and advice on losing/gaining weight without all the ads with "legal" supplements.

Congrats on making the decision to get your self in better health.

left the house,this mornin,at 4:30...58,fantastic degrees..just one heck of a time,to be out walkin...i enjoy gettin out,when theres nobody but me,the trashman,and an occasional vehicle...and then..i get to see this little berg,ever so gradually,come to life,as the sun comes up.....1 hr and 55 minutes,most of it,goin at a pretty good pace....i love,gettin er done early.....'keep the continue'

GREAT THREAD. NEW TO THIS SITE.

I AM 5'10" AND 255 LBS. SICK OF THIS SHIT. I MUST STOP THE INSANITY:ughhh:

WHERE DO I START? THE GYM? WALKING THEN GYM? I KNOW I EAT NOTHING BUT SHIT. I KNOW THAT I DRINK TOO MANY COKES.

I WAS WATCHING THE TV SHOW "THE BIGGEST LOSER" AND ONE OF THE TRAINERS SAID THE FIRST START WOULD BE TO STOP DRINKING SODAS. I HAVE STARTED BUYING BOTTLED WATER AND CUTTING BACK ON THE COKES.

HELP.......

trcwins,im watchin,bigfatasslosers now...hell of a show..do they lose some weight,or what? ...those trainers,work their asses off...makes me feel,like i aint doin shit,,hehehe....'keep the continue'

mrhog, I've been walking 3 to 4 times a week since 1989. I usually walk 15-20 minutes at a time. How do you go an hour or more?

I usually walk briskly so I can get my heart rate up. My legs get tired sometimes when I do this. Do you just walk slowly so you can continue for an hour?

didnt get out til 12 oclock,but it was very pleasant....walked for 1 hr and 45 minutes....good workout..'keep the continue'

quantumleap,you have been walkin regularly for 18 yrs,and need to rest,after 15 minutes? that dont sound right....how much do you weigh?...when i was 295,i couldnt hardly go to the store,without wantin to sit down,i stayed tired....ive been walkin since thanksgiving day,appx 10 months,so in in much better,cardiovascular condition...after ive walked for about an hour,yes,im a bit tired,but i have to keep goin....i always walk,for 1 hr,before i think about turnin around,and its either walk back to my car,(or house) or else....i cant call a cab,cause i dont take any money with me,hehehehe......and yes,the long walks,over an hr,really wears my ass out,but i usually recover,in 24 hrs,and im ready for some more...if i wake up tired,i take the day off.....as far as the intensity,i usually go at a brisk pace,but not a tongue hangin out,tryin to catch my breath,pace...i usually try and maintain a pace,where i can enjoy the scenery, but still challenge myself...i look for an area,that has some hills.and if you do hills,it dont matter,how slow or fast you take em,youll get stronger,and burn off some fat.........flat land,bores me to death...quantumleap,i believe in doin whatever works for ye...if you need to rest,sit down and rest...hope ive answered yer question.....just remember,we're all in this together,and hognuts is pullin for ye......'keep the continue'

That helps. However, my cardio is hardly ever taxed, it's my legs that get tired. I think it's because I walk rather briskly. Maybe I should slow down and walk longer.

As we grow older we have a tendency to sit more. I've realized that myself. Therefore in addition to walking I'm going to start strength conditioning. Nothing outrageous mind you. Just something to keep my muscles toned. Have you given that a thought?

my left knee,told me it wanted a light day..soo...i did 35 minutes,of just casual walkin,and came back to the house...'keep the continue'

As we grow older we have a tendency to sit more. I've realized that myself. Therefore in addition to walking I'm going to start strength conditioning. Nothing outrageous mind you. Just something to keep my muscles toned. Have you given that a thought?

i do strength trainin,several times a week...work with the weights,pushups,squats,etc..sure has made me stronger..'keep the continue'

did 45 minutes,walkin the hills and roads,that run behind my house,then went out to,and across, the main road,and did a good sized hill,...i dont recall ever doin this exact route before.an excellent mixture,of flat land,and hills ....might do the same route,again this evenin...'keep the continue'

got back on the horse,this mornin..walked up town,to the drugstore.80 minutes worth..12 of it joggin...gonna try to slowly incorporate,a few minutes of joggin,into my workout...my trouble in the past,has been tryin to jog too much,at one time,before my legs are conditioned to it...ive learned that walkin,does not strengthen joggin muscles....soooo,im goin to increase my joggin time,by a few minutes,or a qtr mile,each week....ive tried this before,and every damd time,i get to feelin like i can run a marathon..do too much,too soon,wind up sore as hell,and just go back to walkin.....this time,im goin to do it right...dont remember the last time i dropped any fat,and im guessin its because my body has become so efficient,at walkin,its just not enough of a challenge....annnd,i eat too much,to lose a lot of weight,through my diet...think im gonna have to get rid of the remaining fat,by more intense exercise....'keep the continue'

hiked the hills,behind my house,for 55 minutes...made damd sure,not to do any joggin,even though i felt like it.....one thing ive learned,in the last week...if yer knees are botherin ye..(from joggin)double up,on the dr scholls...what a difference.....did a few squats,overhead lifts,pushups,,curls.....just enough to get my blood circulatin...im eager to see,how this joggin,every other day,works out....im thinkin if i do it right.itll put me on that next level,and i can get rid of these remaining 12 pounds....it seems that every 3 months or so,whatever im doin stops workin....while im feelin stronger every day,i realize im gonna have to crank it up,in order to make my goal..which will probably happen,sometime in 2008..hehehe......although it was 10 a:m,before i headed out,it was very pleasant......no better time,than right now,to be checkin out,mother nature....'keep the continue'

went to th bike trail..walked 33 minutes,jogged 33 minutes...id alternate,2 minutes walkin,2 minutes joggin....that 33 minutes joggin,is up from 12,monday...hope its not too much....i could have jogged the whole 66 minues,but im tryin to do it right this time.....annnd,the reason im writin this every day, is to remind myself not to get in a hurry.....im goin to train myself to jog,every other day...NOT,every day.....'keep the continue'
