where you at viejo, time for you to report in,,i sure amlookin forward to watchin football this fall,as a skinny, well not skinny, but with less of this fat around my stomach,i wore a 2x shirt the other day, that had been hangin up for several years,it wasnt bad,but i actually need to drop a few more lbs, before im 100% comfortable wearin it,while i havent lost any lbs recently, ive lost in my waist,a month ago,i could never have worn that shirt, think im goin to get one of those cloth measurin tapes, that they use in clothin stores,(not that they ever had to measure me,lol) and see exactly what my waist size is,reason is,i can wear some 44s,but not "the suit pants,i guess the more expensive clothes are more accurate in their sizes, really dont know,,,viejo, drop by and let old hognuts know how yer doin,it must be difficult to stay on schedule, when yer away from home, especially for us older folks..'keep the continue'

this has been a landmark day,for me,,i went to the soccer field today, for the first time in about a month,i was feelin very refreshed and had a lot of energy and it came to me,that i needed to push myself, and see exacxtly how far i could jog,i knew it would be more than 1 mile, cause i jogged a mile yesterday, after the first mile,i started to stop but thought i would see how much of the second mie i could do,well,i did te scond mile, and still had quite bit left in the tank, sooo,i said there wont be a better time than today,to do 3 miles and im gonna do it,I JOGGED 3 CONTINUOUS MILES and then walked 2 more coolin off, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha, when i stopped,(slowed down and started walkin)i experienced the runners high that ive only felt a very few times in my life, felt like i was doin some really really good drugs, but here is the kicker,i got home and weighed myself and lo and behold,it said 228 POUNDS,WHICH MEANS OLD HOGNUTS DAYS OF OBESITY ARE A THING OF THE PAST,now im just a regular fatass who needs to lose some weight, after one full year of focusing on my health, all the walkin, all the readin everything i could get my hands on,(concerning a healthy lifestyle)building myself a weight bench,(actually,at this point,my front yard looks like a health club, well, not really a health club,(i dont think they have concrete blocks with tape on the ends, that i use for 'preacher curls',hehehe)in a health club,,if i had it to do over again, there is not much that i would have done differently, after all this hard work,im now beginning to enjoy the process more every day,,,after thinhin about it for a second, theres one thing i would change,id start with the weights sooner, its amazing how much better i feel, after only a couple weeks,,,,viejo, ill bet youre glad to be home, the older i get,the more i enjoy bein at home, when i was younger,i never dreamed i would enjoy sittin around, watchin a garden grow, hehehe,,'keep the continue'

went back to the soccer field and did the same thing as yesterday, jogged 3miles and walked 2,was a bit sore this evenin, but im fine now,it sure is a feeling, when i wake up in the mornin, before yesterday, everything i did was geared toward becoming unobese,(im sure thats not even a word)now that i have achieved that goal,im thinkin on another level, annnd without the despertation i felt, when i was obese,i dont have any less desire to get down to 200,but i can pick my spots,in other words,if i go walkin when its 2 below zero, itll be because i want to,not because i have to,,its a different mindset all together,i guess what im tryin to say is,that feeling of bein overwhelmed by my weight, has left me,annnd im not tryin to be cocky, but 28 pounds aint shit, especially when ive got all summer,6 months,to lose it in,when i was 295,i had to do a lot of psychin myself out, now, the exercise has become such a part of my day,i do it without even thinkin.,,'keep the continue'

the temp dropped a bit last night and it was still in the 50s this mornin,so i had to get out the long pants and sweater, after takin a break yesterday,i had lots of energy and felt that there was a chance that i would be able to jog for more than my best distance,of 3 miles,,i was out early,so the heat would not be a problem,at the 2.5 mile mark,i realized that i was physically capable of doin 4 miles, and the only thing that could stop me was me,at the 3 mile mark,i just decided that i was the master of this fkn ship, and i was goin to do one more mile, and that was that,i finished the 4 mile jog,and then 1 mile walkin,to cool off,,,yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh,,i might need to take tomorrow off,but it doesnt matter,i cant describe what it feels like, for me to be able to jog for 4 consecutive miles,at this rate, ill be at my ultimate exercising goal(to jog 5 miles a day)in a week or two,i figured id need to be a lot closer to 200 lbs, than i am,but after reflectin back on my little journey ,ive been active in a lot more ways, than just walkin, for the last 5 months, fkn around with my garden and the weights, has made me stronger,i actually feel stronger, when im joggin..the kicker is,,joggin those 4 miles, was easier than walkin my first mile,,hmmm, that tells me one thing, all ive got to do,is stay in joggin shape, and ill never have to worry about walkin that first mile again!! down to 53 degrees this mornin, looks like the perfect time, for a little walk,a small amount of soreness this am,but its the kind that disappears, once you hit the road,im very curious to know, ifi can do 4 miles on consecutive days, think id be comfortable, with walkin 2 days and and one day of rest,2 more days walkin, and one day of rest, etc, until i get rid of a few more lbs of fat,i see guys joggin, who look like one of those kids in ethiopia, they may be in good health, but i dont want to look like death warmed over,oh well,im gettin ahead of myself, hehehe, itll be a while before i need to concern myself with that...valuebets,to participate and finishin an organized 5 or 6 mile race,is somethin,i always thought looked like a lot of fun,and yes that is another long term goal of mine,it almost makes me emotional, when i reflect back on the way i felt when id see other folks out joggin, full of energy, and enjoying the day,so many times i would think to myself,i wonder what that feels like,,well, now im beginning to find out,and it is tremendous! 'keep the continue' viejo, where you at,i know you said you gained 2 lbs,but dont let that get to ye,remember during christmas, when i took a week off and my sister brought all the fkn leftovers,(from the family dinner),to my house? hehehe i do recall somethin about a whole pumpkin pie,a whole pecan pie,a whole uh,,oh well,,ive got to get off my ass, thinkin about all that pie,is makin me hungry,,,lets go and have ourselves a great day!

by the time i got to the soccer field,it was already 60 degrees, very nice,i jogged the 4 miles that i intended to and walked one for coolin off,on my coolin off lap,i conversed with an elderly minister, about 'life',very pleasant way to finish my workout, but heres the kicker,lm down to 227 lbs, yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha!,im gettin so slim,im afraid the wind might blow me away, hehehe,NOT,ive noticed that since i started joggin,i even walk faster when im just fkn around, what was once walkin as fast as i could, now seems slow as molasses,im really gettin in to this joggin,i always thought it would be so fkn hard, but its not at all, once your body is conditioned to it,all ye gotta do is find a good even pace, and stick with it,right now,i cant imagine it not being a part of my quest for better health,'keep the continue'

whn i left the house this mornin,it was 53,when i got back,it was 70,another great weather day, here in ky,went to soccer field again today, left the house at 8:40,,thats much better than the 10 or 11 oclock, ive been gettin started, the last few days, tryin to train myself to get out by 7 oclock, because before long, itll be hot and humid early, well i jogged 4 miles and 1 coolin off mile of walkin,(actually,on the last mile,i do some arm exercises, for the bursitis in my left rotator cuff, and some knee bends,to try and strengthen the knees, its really about a 1/2 knee bend,i found it on the net one day,and have been doin a few of those every day, somethin has helped my knees, and im not sure if its the grass and or exercises, probably a bit of both, today was 3 consecutive days of joggin 4 and walkin 1,an the knees are doin great,i havent had the slightest sign,of a problem, maybe one day next week, ill go to the track, and see what happens, while im enjoyin the soccer field right now,i always eventually get bored, goin to the same place, every day,and the thought of doin 5 miles every day on a 1/4 mile track, gets old real fast, think ill go down to the beach next week, aint been there in a while, buuut, first things first,im goin to conquer the 5 mile distance,at the soccer field, before i change scenery,i thought about it this mornin, and i coud have made it,(i think),but i didnt want to push too hard, too early, one thing is for sure, ill be doin 5 miles, within 2 weeks, probably sooner,,,,viejo,at this juncture,im sure my family is proud of me, and id be proud of them,if they would get off the couch,im the one who is always tryin to encourage them to start walkin, but so far,i havent done much good, soooo old hognuts is gonna be like hank snow,,,im movin on,,,'keep the continue'

just read this thread nuts...
Very inspiring and is a credit to you for keeping a diary that all of us can read.
I am overweight at 6 ft 2 and 251...not terrible but definitely not good with heart disease and diabetes that runs in my family...
Maybe one day I will have the fortitude to once again rise above and become the internal stud that i really am.

whalewagerer,i havent made many sharp moves in my life, but startin this thread has helped me more than i ever thought it would, the reason i started it was 100% selfish,i figured if i had an ounce of pride,id be too ashamed to quit, after i exposed myself to the whole fkn world, hehehe, well,it worked, when im out walkin or joggin,at some point,it comes to mind, that when i get back home, ive got to post what i have done,in the journal, and i know in my heart, that ive done much more than i ever would have without the journal,if it motivates anybody else, that would be wonderful...ps:i woke up this mornin in the recliner, and the show about the guy eatin at mcdonalds every day for a month was on,'supesizeme,'id heard a lot about it,but never seen it,the way that guy described how he felt,is exactly how i felt, before i got off all that crap,i honestly thought i was havin a stroke, scared me to death, like i have stated early on,i lost 35 lbs,by just changin what i ate,and of course ive dropped 33 more, after i started exercisin,,now,i am so glad, that i stopped losin,i would never in hell have got off my ass,and took up walkin, exercise has changed me from a couch potato,to a person who gets up in the mornin, and after i drink a large decaf, app a quart of water, and 3 teaspoons of lowfat cottage cheese,my focus is,how many miles, and where am i goin to walk and or run today, psychologically,im a different person altogether, ive gone from being so ashamed,i didnt want to go to the grocery store, now,im out there with all those health nuts, askin questions about how they have done, what they have done, and sharing my own experience, from my experience, the guys and gals that i meet, when im out walkin and runnin, are the healthiest people,on the planet, and like me,seem to enjoy the heck out of sharing, where they have been, where they are at,and where they are goin,in terms of diet and exercise, this has opened up a whole new world, for me,things that i would see other folks doin and wish that i was healthy enough to join them, well, now im in there runnin with the bulls myself, cant get no better than that,'keep the continue'

well,i thought wit a days rest,i could jog 5 miles, and i did,but im here to tll ye that it wasnt easy, the first 3 miles was fantastic,im lookin around at all the trees, plants, birds, other joggers, and im thinkin, shit, there aint no tellin how far old hognuts will run today, felt like i could jog forever, the 4th mile i began to feel like i had done a hard days work, and i for whatever reason, had to walk home,,the 5th mile,EVERY FKN STEP i took,i wanted to quit,i just kept tellin myself that i was in the process of achieving the highest exercise goal, that i hadever imagined, for myself, and if i could just finish this one mile that im on,that if i was conditioned to jog 5 miles, everything from here on out, would be easier than today,i hung in there and made it,and then did a mile to cool off,i was so tired,i could hardly walk, but i cant describe the rush i got, knowing that i had got off the couch, and just kept on keepin on,til i could jog far enough that if i keep it up,my health will continue to improve(and also,i heard dr phil say he jogged 5 miles every day,and if he didnt he would weigh 400lbs,hehehe,he also said, and i quote,'you cannot be obese,if your lifestyle doesnt support it,'for some reason, that has really stuck in my head,in other words, being fat,is a choice, well if ive got a choice in the matter, ill take the slim and healthy hognuts, over the obese one(that i used to be,in case i didnt mention it,for the ten thousandth time,to be obese,id have to weigh 228,did i also mention, that i weigh 227,hehehe),my ass will probably be sore in the mornin, ill probably just walk for a few miles, and maybe try this again thursday,or i might just settle in and do 3 miles every day,i just wanted to prove to myself, that i could jog 5 miles,AND I DID,YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHA
