Spain vs. Great Britain

Spain vs. Great Britain
8:15am eastern
rot# 3574/3575

Great Britain +22

This will be the third game in 3 days for each team. Spain is the tournament favorite and has coasted to wins over Poland by just 5 points and by 14 over Portugal. They have a very deep team. They play the early game on Friday and their next game will be against the home team (Lithuania). I think Spain will be happy just to win and move on to the next game which everyone will be looking forward to as it matches the two favorites as both are in Group A.

As for Great Britain, they played well in the opener and lost 80-69 to Lithuania. Luol Deng scored 25 while Clark, Freeland and Reinking added 15, 14 and 13. The Brits also have Eric Boateng, who like Luol Deng attended Duke.

In the next game, GB was crushed by Turkey 90-61 as they fell behind by 22-10 and only made one 3-pointer. Deng did tally 22.

I would expect GB to bounce back on Friday and keep it close. Deng should be able to net 20+. The team can't play any worse than they did on Thursday and should be motivated vs. the Spaniards.

Let's hope Britain can play "great" on Friday and stay within the big number as underdogs are 15-9 ATS so far in the Eurobasket 2011.

Bosnia/Finland
8:30am Saturday

over 149.5
Both teams have played Greece and lost with the total points scored just above 140 points. Greece scored 30 of their first 33 points in the paint. In their second games they both played high scoring games with plenty of 3's shot and made.

Bosnia (BIH) played a 94-86 (180 points) game with Montenegro and were 15-33 from outside the arc. They get points from Teletovic, Gordic and Dedovic. They should be able to "finish" inside vs. the weak interior defense of their opponent.

Finland lost to Croatia by 84-79 so they have allowed 81 and 84 so far. The Finns made 13 of 39 3-pointers. They now face a team that just scored 94 points and have one win/one loss.

I usually look for unders but like our chances for an over on Saturday morning if the 3's are falling.

Argentina vs. Panama (men)
FIBA America (7:30pm eastern)
Rot# 1407/1408

under 150
Argentina is at home and this is the last game of the first round in the FIBA America tournament. Argentina is 3-0 and just beat Puerto Rico 81-74. However, in their first two games they beat Paraguay 84-52 (136 points) and Uruguay by 86-51 (137).

Argentina is a good team led by Ginobili, Scola and Delfino. They are favored by 30 points and could easily win this by more but I expect them to rest veterans, win comfortably and more on to the next round and not run up the score.

Panama is 1-2 and does have Gary Forbes who can provide points. Let's hope he doesn't score too many tonight.

3-0 in Eurobasket 2011

Lithuania vs. Portugal
2pm eastern (Monday)
rot# 3591/3592

Pick: Portugal +21

Lithuania lost Sunday to Spain in front of their fans but wrapped up second place in Group A. They face an 0-4 Portugal team in one of the last games in round one. Portugal lost to Turkey by 23 in their opener but here are their other losses:

lost to Spain by 14
lost to Poland by 8
lost to Great Britain by 12

Lithuania will want to bounce back from their loss but should be happy to win by 12 to 18 points. Hopefully, the underdogs can step up and make some shots to stay within the big number.

3-1 in Eurobasket 2011

Serbia vs. Lithuania
2pm eastern (Wednesday)
rot# 1505/1506

over 160.5

Serbia just lost a close game to France in overtime. Both teams were off on Tuesday to rest and get ready for the next round robin series. These two are the second and third highest scoring teams in the tourney at close to 85+ ppg. All we need is for both teams to hit 80 points.

Serbia put up 80, 75, 89, 92 and 80 points so far. 75 was against Germany. Lithuania has scored 98, 75, 79, 97 and 80. They lost to Spain 91-79 (170 points) after falling behind early.

Serbia is led by Milos Teodosic at PG and he averages 7.5 assists per game. He has not shot well recently and needs to score a few baskets. Krstic 17 ppg and Savanovic 15 ppg help in scoring. The game vs. France was 80-80 after regulation and the French only made one 3-pointer.

Lithuania should get the calls inside and have shot over 60% from the field in two games and led by Kankenon at 85% as he has made 24 of 28 FG's. They have three former ACC players in Pocius (Duke), Songailia (Wake Forest) and Jasikevicius (Md.). Kalnietis can score for them as well. Linas Kleiza is out with an injury.

Hopefully, both teams can make a few 3's, go to the line and provide an offensive display for fans at the game and for OVER bettors on the internet at espn3.com.
