Malaysia vs. Iran
2011 Fiba Asian Tournament
9pm eastern Sunday (9/18/2011)

pick: Malaysia +51.5

This game starts at 9pm eastern time but it will be 9am in China. The crowd will be small since it is early and China is not involved. This is the opening game of the second round and Iran is one of the favorites to win the title and qualify for the 2012 Olympics. Iran won the 2009 FIBA ASIA tournament and also won the Jones Cup back in August.

Iran only beat Malaysia by 20 (69-49) back in August at the Jones Cup. Iran played a sloppy, low scoring game in their first game vs. Chinese Taipei that ended 49-37. The next game was a forfeit vs. Qatar, who had players ruled ineligible and protested the game by fouling out most of the remaining players. Iran put the pedal to the metal in their last game as they beat Uzbekistan by 132-38. Wow, that's three very different games!

Iran has to play again tomorrow vs. Lebanon and the next day vs. Korea. Malaysia is a bad team that could get beat by 60 or more as they have played three games and won one by 4 and lost the others by 47 and 28.

However, I hope to see Iran win this game quickly by 30 or 40 and move on to the next game.

The game starts 51.5 to 0.

over 153.5

These two meet in China and just played a 100-89 game at The Jones Cup back on August 12. Many of the same players return. These are two of the worst teams at at the 2011 FIBA Asia tournament going on at Wuhan, China.

Malaysia did score 80 in a win vs. Uzbekistan and their last three games reached 161, 153 and 174. They have allowed 89, 87, 121 and 109 in the tournament to some good teams. They get points from Gugabeswan, Kwaan, Ooi and Chee.

UAE is better than Malaysia and they did score 91 vs. Bahrain in a big win. Their last 3 have totaled 161, 153 and 174. They get points from Ahmed, Al Zaabi and Salem.

153.5 is a high total for this tournament but the teams will get a chance to score and hopefully, we see a fast paced game with both above the 77 point mark.

This total is available at Olympic and 5Dimes. www.sportlemon.tv shows the game live. GL!

Thanks Dr. T!! You da freakin MAN!!! I know you've been on a small little losing streak, but i still got a ton of confidence in your plays. Obviously, i have no idea about these teams...but you make me "trust" your plays and i money manage accordingly. Keep em coming!! Any more LATE games for tonight/tomorrow? Thanks for your hard work.

FINAL: UAE 89 - Malaysia 87

Malaysia sure did hang tough! HUGE 2nd half (101 pts)

I am happy to get the win with the easy OVER. (Not sure how I got the starting time wrong). I will post some more plays in the FIBA Asia tourney if I see a line I like. The semifinals and finals are this weekend. I expect China and Iran to meet in the final.

These two played a 49-37 stinker to open the tourney as both were in the same group. Iran just lost to Jordan and gave up close to 90 points while Chinese Taipei lost to The Phillipines by allowing over 90.

Iran won this tournament in 2009 and lost their last game as a 20 point favorite. They should bounce back and win this as they are led by Haddadi who was the MVP back in 2009. Hopefully, Taipei will play defense similar to the first meeting and keep this low scoring, at least under 147.
