Philippines vs. Korea
FIBA Asia (basketball)
Rotation #2153/2154
3:30am eastern (approx.)
over 145
This is the third place game going early Sunday in China in the FIBA Asia tournament. China and Jordan meet in the final to see who represents Asia in the Olympics. Here is why I like the over in this game.
Both teams just lost low scoring games in the semifinals but in the Q-finals they played high scoring games. Korea won 86-67 (153 points) while The Philippines won 95-78 (173 points). These two played a 78-70 (148) game in this summer's Jones Cup.
The final tends to be low scoring but the third place game has less pressure and tends to have plenty of points. The last three third place games reached 146, 156 and 166 points. The third place game in Asia's Jones Cup totaled 154 as The Philippines beat Chinese Taipei by 82-72.
The Pinoy are led by center Marcus Douthit who leads the tourney with a 21.3 ppg average while Korea gets points from Yang, Park, Kim, Cho and Moon. Moon is formerly known as Jarod Stevenson who played at the Univ. of Richmond. Korea did score 89, 80 and 84 in the first round games as well as 106 and 86 in others before a weak 43 point effort vs. the home team.
There should be a nice opportunity for enough points to get over the total. Hopefully, Douthit will score inside and the two teams will make 3's.
