Mike Piazza wouldnt even hand me some spare toilet tissue

I was in the bathroom in a stall and when I finished I noticed to my chagrin the holder was out of toilet paper...I ask the guy sitting in the next stall for some extra paper and he doesnt even answer......now I have to walk out of the stall and get some tissue from another stall...then the guy gets out of the stall and who is it..Mike Piazza of the NY Mets...I couldnt believe it!!!!

At Mr. Laff's & Maxwells & Gleason's on York I met many athletes in the 70's.
Dick Shiner of the Redskins was a good guy, Bob Anderson who was in the backfield with Dawkins for Army was friendly.
Brad Park was the most beliicose. Yaz was distant.

Everyone seems to say Ripken's an asshole - what are the stories there?

I met a ton of guys while I interned at the agency. Other than Bonds, can't really say any of them were dicks. Many were distant or somewhat surly, but no one else was an ass. Used to work at a card store during college and worked a show one day where Mays was signing. Our table happened to be really close to the table where he signed and that dude is a rude mother f*er, worse than Bonds. Just completely uncalled for rudeness.

Bunch of guys were super nice. Tom Gordon being the one that comes to mind, super nice guy. Funny and engaging as hell, he was like an adult child, just a super nice guy.

Met Gerry Cooney while he was training for the Holmes fight, I was about 7 or 8. He was nice enough to sign an autograph for me in the middle of his dinner (I know, stupid, but I was 7) yet I remember thinking he was rude when he left the restaurant and was squirting his water bottle all over the floor.

Dave Winfield was rude to a buddy of mine when he was a kid.

Met a ton of other guys that were pleasant, Piazza, JT Snow was a super nice, good guy, Schilling, Bobby Bo, Mike Fetters. Bud Selig also was, met him at a restaurant during a buddy's bachelor party at spring training. We were wasted, got up 3 separate times to take pictures with us. We weren't thinking and lacked manners to interrupt him but he was very kind.

Brady Anderson was kind of a dick, didn't do anything in particular but you could tell he thought his shit didn't stink.

Jay Buhner, circa 1988.

I'm coming home from work (midtown NYC) Saturday about 6 pm.
I walk past the Grand Hyatt to get to Grand Central Station.
Turns out the Mariners are staying there and just pulled in after a matinee game against the Yankees.
Buhner is standing outside the lobby as I was walking to catch my train, 12 year old kid asks for his autograph politely, Buhner just shoved him (not hard mind you) but you just don't do that.
Prick.

I've waited tables in some of the most happening places in the U.S. for years...waited on tons of celebs, even the President once.
Athletes are pretty cool in general, among the nicest and most down-to-earth I've waited on:
Teemu Selanne a real sweet human being
Katerina Witt man I would've married her right then she was so cute & kind
Brian Urlacher a real softie just a big teddy-bear
Brad Daugherty so soft-spoken and humble
Any MLB umpire crew good tippers and always good for some laughs

Come to think of it, the only celebs I've waited on with attitudes are:
Michael Jordan wouldn't even look me in the eye or speak to me
Angelina Jolie YUK

When Jacksonville had the Super Bowl, he came to eat at my mom's Japanese restaurant. They have those tables where they cook in front of you. He came with two other people I think. The whole table seats eight and there happened to be another party of 4 or 5 at the same table. He ended up buying the other party's dinner that night.

Took a couple pictures with my mom and other employees. Real nice guy that night.

Biggest prick i met was Jeff O'neil. Met him about 5 or 6 times. He thinks he's gods gift to everything.

He's trying to break Wilts record.

I don't get star struck and usually leave these people alone when I see them...but...circa 1987...

I was in a store when I ran into Milt Pappas...I told him I felt bad for his loss (September 2, 1972) of a perfect game. That ump totally F*CKED him.......(later the ump laughed about it in an interview..prink)

anyway...

Milt said ""thanks, that one hurt""....""I appreceiate your thoughts and concern""...

real nice guy....

anything close should have been a strike in that spot...you don't squeeze a guy one strike from a perfect game.
