Heres one of my famous encounters

Nice at first to jerkoff later The Iron Sheik

This happened somewhere between 1989 and 1991 in Montgomery, Alabama. The Iron Shiek was wrestling in one of the smaller southeastern based promotions during that time and was at a bowling alley drinking some brews with his manger Teddy Long after one of the shows.

I spoke to them and they were pleasant enough. Only a small handful of people recognized them so It wasnt like they were being swarmed.
The Shiek wanted to get high and thought that I was a dealer. Back in those days I loved the bling bling. Ring on every finger and plenty of gold around the neck. He was dissapointed when he found out that I wasnt one and at that time had never ever even smoked a fattie let alone sell it.

I then asked him who he fought that night and he said "Doesnt matter"
I think he was doing alot of jobbing during this part of his career.
I asked him again and he repeated "Doesnt matter, go away"
Teddy looked at me and said "You may just want to leave"

I could tell that the Shiek was annoyed at this juncture so I let them alone and that was that.

If I did smoke at the time I guess my story would have been how me and the Iron Shiek smoked a blunt in my car:toast:

I remember him well...I had forgotten he went to Iowa (my pre Rx days)...I could have sworn he went to college out west.

Wonder what he's doing these days...he never really made it in the NFL.

GoGo met Greg Luzinski once after a high school game after pitching against his son. Got a picture with him but he basically said nothing and seemed like an ass.

Remember when 'The Bull' seemed to be one of the giants of baseball...

I saw an old game with him on Chicago vs Baltimore 1983 ALCS and he looked like a slightly above avg size, stocky guy, not even that big now.

After a Mavs game recently I met Craig Sagger at the bar, he was having a few brewkies and one of my friends had a camara and he was real receptive of taking a picture. Marc Cuban is really cool too, he came in and talks and shakes hands with folks in the Mavs Club. Most Mavs are really cool. Shawn Bradley signed autograph for friends nephew while out eating. Buddy has played cards with Jason Terry(really, really cool) and Stackhouse(friendly, but not as outgoing as the Jet). Dirk is cool from what I hear. Avery Johnson is a Godsend-one great person with a very nice wife too(that comes from my buddy that works for the Mavs).
I went to school with Mean Joe Green's kids, he is a really nice guy.

Nice guys: John Kruk. Actually asked ME if I wanted HIS autograph as a AAA Las Vegas Stars MLB player lol.

Bert Blyleven. By far the nicest of all MLB'ers with anything to toot their horn about.

Sam Bowie and Kenny Carr. Old Portland Trailblazers.

Curtis Granderson. Stayed beyond late multiple times to sign autographs for kids while on the road in Seattle. Left no kid behind who had a hand held out.

Kenny Lofton. Answered questions about when he played Pac 10 basketball for Arizona and was in awe that I remembered him doing so.

Steve Young: Let 2 chicks bug him at a Luau in maui for a picture while he was with his family. Id have told them no myself. I mean shit, a luau aint the place.

Danny Tartabull. Had like 40 dongs in triple A one year, had all the reason in the world to have a fat head but was always available to sign autos.

Biggest Aholes: Reggie Jackson. Loves to hear himself talk. What a dumbshit.

Joe Montana. Showed up for a private party to give out autographs was either shitfaced by the time he got there or drunk. Acted like he had a f'n concussion lol.

Cliff Robinson. Was drunk in a bar shitter asking anybody if they thought they could beat him up. What a stupid dick.

Kenny Anderson. Doesnt take no for an answer from white chicks.

Richie Sexson. The sob tried to steal my high school girlfriend back in 1990!

Charles Barkley. Asshole.

Dan Marino. Asshole

Dick Versace. ENORMOUS ASSHOLE. I'd like to chuck a turd at him. Totally verbally abused a chick I work with for no reason then says DONT YOU KNOW WHO I AM! lol. yeah, a fucking shitty washed up nba coach. lol

Emmitt Smith was the biggest tool and several guys on the mid-80's Mets (Darryl Strawberry / Ray Knight / Rafael Santana) were not much better

as far as good guys you cannot beat Mario Lemieux...such a solid guy.

Wow a few people mentioned Barkley as a prick. I had a different experience. Maybe it's cause i was a kid (around 12-13) when i met him. But he was flying out of Philly when my family was going on vacation and my pop spotted him checking in for a flight when we were. I waited for him by the escalator to tell him he was my favorite player...he stopped and talked to me, told me to get good grades, and signed my hat before taking off.

Another cool guy I met as a kid was Randall Cunningham. He lived in my hometown for a while when he was on the Eagles. Me and a buddy rode our bikes to his house. After talking to him over his intercom for a few minutes and assuring him it was only 2 kids he invited us in. Signed our football cards and bullshitted with us for a little bit. To this day he's still my favorite athlete of all time.

Rose is the most arrogant I've ever met. Ran into him at Caesars racebook in AC. He didn't acknowledge anyone who came up to him and ended up having management close a row of seats (and his own teller that was closed to the public... leaving only 1 teller for the rest of the crowd) so he didn't need to deal with the public. Rose had a stack of hundreds so thick, he couldn't even fold it in half and went thru 2 stacks within a half hour (kept getting another stack from his assistant/man-slave/whatever) Kept bitching about his 2-5 horses not winning. I gave him a 4-1 shot that won and his response was, finally a winner. Not even a thank you.

Nicest guy that I haven't seen in the thread.... Billy Martin. I ran into Billy while he was managing the Yanks in a locals-bar in Carlstadt, NJ. Great story teller, always bought more than a couple of rounds and rarely let us buy him one. Never bashed anyone with his stories, just a funny, intelligent guy who IMO was greatly misunderstood.
Leonard Marshall of the NY Giants did a charity event I was involved with. Even though he was donating his time, he insisted on picking up the lunch check and signed autos for everyone who approached him that day. Just a great guy who enjoyed the attention from his fans.
Also had the chance to meet Pele a few times while he played for the NJ Cosmos and despite the demand on his time, he always stopped to pose for pictures or sign autos for kids. Great ambassador for soccer.

Ahh yes, forgot about Petey. Yeah Rose was a class A bonehead when I met him
