I did have a few conversations with Lefty Dreisell now that I think about it...we were high school kids and Lefty would talk to us in the stands while he watched High school prospects.

I use to see Johnny Unitas regularly when i worked for Federal Express , he had an office job in the same place that I made deliveries, I use to see him walk out of the elevator , I would say hello or nod, I never tried to talk to him out of respect, as I'm sure he just wanted to be left alone....
He would just smile , always seemed very friendly....the guy was the NFL back in the day and here he was just strolling out of the elevator, humble as they come....I did notice he had very large hands, other than that you would never know you were looking at one of the games legendary figures.
I will never forget where I was when i heard on the radio he died...
I know I am a little bias, but in all honesty they don't make them any better/nicer than Unitas and Brooks.

True story..........my family's company has a suite in Alltel Stadium for the Jag games. As a result, each year we get 4 tickets to any away game and we get to fly with the team to wherever it is they are playing. Well, around 1998 or so (give or take a year), my parents went with the team to an away game. Long story short, the Sunday before the game, they got to eat breakfast with the team. Each table had 6 seats. My parents and another couple were already sitting down, and Brunell walks by the table to find a seat and my parents simply say, "Good Morning." Not only does he ignore them, he turns right around and goes and sits at another table, like they were going to ask him for autographs or something. He never would sign autographs for fans after games.
To this day, I hate the prick, and I was so happy the day we cut his ass.

I live by the Philles AAA team and would go to Philly/Balt a lot. Anyway about 2 years ago (I was 28) I was playing let it ride at Caesars in AC. I was at the table awhile and an pain in my ass was sitting next to me. He just just really annoying. Spilled his drink, was chewing with a spitter at the table, etc. The dealer asked him if he used to play MLB. The guy was relunctant at first and said yes. He said he lived around the area. For some odd reason I remembered Al Leiter lived by Toms River, NJ. Anyway, it obviously wasn't Al. I know it was his brother, Mark Leiter. He played with the Tigers, and some other teams. This guy was a mess. Ahter talking some more he basically started crying on my shoulder. I guess he lost a newborn son and it was affected him. I'm not sure when it happened. Then he started complaining about $$$ he has to give his ex-wife. Then he started ragging on the dealer because he was losing. Then he won a little. Then I told him I remember him when he pitched with Toledo and played with Scott Aldred, Scott Livingston, etc. He thought it was weird that I knew so much about him. ?????? :missingte Then he told me about getting his million $$ contract, and how he has nothing now, just the MLB pension. The kicker is we were getting drinks from the drink lady. The first round I tipped her for our drinks. The next round he tipped her for our drinks, but she forgot his. He took the $1 back and told me I;m not tipping for your drink. What a loser.
