ASSHOLE:

Alonzo Mourning, my brother is the ball boy for the wizards and has to line up their jump suits before the game on the bench. He could not find Zo's shirt, walked up to him and told him he could not find his shirt and if he knew where it was. He told me 16 year old brother "I dont know, thats yall motherfuckers jobs" REAL CLASSY

NICE GUY:

Sergio Mora, met him at a club one night in DC, he was in town promoting some shit, my buddy had some mutual friend with him that lives out in LA. He was with his girl and his best friend, hung out with him all night, he bought me and my buddy a few round of drinks. His manager actually called my buddy 2 weeks ago because Sergio was in town and he invited us up to the same club to kick it. Unfortunatley my buddy was sick and we didnt go.

BTW, one of the the best threads I have ever read on the rX

no bad stories, but I have a few positive ones. I played blackjack with Peerless Price for about 3 hours down in the Carribbean. It was just me, peerless and his fiance. giving each other high fives when we hit blackjacks. great guy though. It was my honeymoon, so my wife was about to kill me if I stayed there any longer.

Also, I met Bill Elliott (Nascar) and he was probably the nicest guy I have ever met. We talked for about 10-15 minutes, but unfortunately NASCAR is the one sport I do not follow.

A funny side story, once my buddies and I followed Sammy Sosa's entourage in to skip through the hour wait at some club in Miami.

A few other guys that go out of there way to be nice: Bob Feller, Jamal Anderson, John Salley, Barkley, world cup player alexi lalas

I've never met Bill Elliott, but I've met several NASCAR drivers and they've all been very pleasant. Even Tony Stewart, who's considered a prick within the sport, was very cool to me.

And I met John Salley in South Park Mall in Charlotte once....he was out shopping and I spoke to him for a few minutes. Just a really nice guy, and if you ever hear him interviewed he's one of the funniest athletes around...

BTW, two of the all time nicest men you will ever have met, Johnny Unitas and Brooks Robinson, both HOF legends...I don't know if anyone could be nicer, you will never hear a bad word on either one of these two legendary Baltimore sports figures.

I use to see Johnny Unitas regularly when i worked for Federal Express , he had an office job in the same place that I made deliveries, I use to see him walk out of the elevator , I would say hello or nod, I never tried to talk to him out of respect, as I'm sure he just wanted to be left alone....

He would just smile , always seemed very friendly....the guy was the NFL back in the day and here he was just strolling out of the elevator, humble as they come....I did notice he had very large hands, other than that you would never know you were looking at one of the games legendary figures.

I will never forget where I was when i heard on the radio he died...

I know I am a little bias, but in all honesty they don't make them any better/nicer than Unitas and Brooks.

Living in L.A I've met and seen tons of athletes and celebrities. Way too many to mention right now but I will confirm even further that Pete Rose is a pure scumbag.. I have met/seen him numerous times and he is a horrible human being...

Rose is the most arrogant I've ever met. Ran into him at Caesars racebook in AC. He didn't acknowledge anyone who came up to him and ended up having management close a row of seats (and his own teller that was closed to the public... leaving only 1 teller for the rest of the crowd) so he didn't need to deal with the public. Rose had a stack of hundreds so thick, he couldn't even fold it in half and went thru 2 stacks within a half hour (kept getting another stack from his assistant/man-slave/whatever) Kept bitching about his 2-5 horses not winning. I gave him a 4-1 shot that won and his response was, finally a winner. Not even a thank you.

Nicest guy that I haven't seen in the thread.... Billy Martin. I ran into Billy while he was managing the Yanks in a locals-bar in Carlstadt, NJ. Great story teller, always bought more than a couple of rounds and rarely let us buy him one. Never bashed anyone with his stories, just a funny, intelligent guy who IMO was greatly misunderstood.
Leonard Marshall of the NY Giants did a charity event I was involved with. Even though he was donating his time, he insisted on picking up the lunch check and signed autos for everyone who approached him that day. Just a great guy who enjoyed the attention from his fans.
Also had the chance to meet Pele a few times while he played for the NJ Cosmos and despite the demand on his time, he always stopped to pose for pictures or sign autos for kids. Great ambassador for soccer.

Journey, how many times have you spoken to Boog Powell outside Boog's BBQ Pitt at Camden Yards?

I've talked to him a couple times, been fortunate enough to attend a couple games when he happened to be there. Guy was nice as can be.

I have never been around Boog....he appears to be another down to earth good guy, and he's from that same era....he should be happy, all that money he's making.

Interesting and totally believable. Rose has issues. Big time obviously.

You saw Billy Martin in a bar?? Hard to believe LOL. Yeah he was friends with my frinds father who was a bartender at a major hotel here in Boston. He always said Martin was a great guy who often gave him game tix.

Ha true...guy's really nice. He'll take time to have a conversation with you, even if he's busy as fuck and everyone's hassling him for autographs and whatnot.

There used to be a Sports Connection (predecessor to Bally's Fitness) on Sepulveda Blvd. in Sherman Oaks, CA where I worked out from about 10-12 am on weekdays (my job started at 1:15) in the late 80s, early 90s. In the offseason Clay Matthews and his brother Bruce worked out there. Also John Matuszak (after his playing career).

Matuszak was very nice. He once heard me mention George Allen and we got into a nice conversation.

Clay Matthews was also very nice and personable. I told him I was a Browns fan (grew up in Cleveland) and we had a nice chat. Never really talked to brother Bruce. He pretty much kept to himself while he was pumping iron.

Matuszak used to do the bottom (heaviest) rung on the Nautilus machines. He had to work at it but he could lift it.

HoF ahole:

Randy Moss
I live in Boca Raton FL where alot of pro athletes live. Randall Cunningham, Chris Carter, Dan Marino, Randy Moss....etc the list goes on. I worked PT at Vitamin World and my buddy is the assistant manager there.

One time Randy rolls up in his 900 SL and jumps out to buy some bars. He pays with a check, my friend who didn't recognize him asked to see some ID, he gets PO'ed digs into his wallet and literally flicks the license at him. And says "shittttttttt u know who I am?!?" Total prick.

Another time his entire family and him roll in again. This time we both recognize him. Didn't ask for an autograph or anything when he's done and pays my friend says "your team looks good this year." His reply "yeah man whatever, give me my shit, I ain't talking to you." Okay.....

Cool guys

When at Vegas working for as a designer for a watch company I met Tony Gonzales, Jalen Rose, John Salley, Kevin Willis.

Kevin Willis was real cool. He even showed me his championship ring he won with San Antonio. No one recognized him but I did.

Jalen Rose was cool too. He had his entourage around him and when I asked he showed me his 40K cell phone. Gold plated with diamonds and rubys.

Based on my buddy's experience in Vegas, would have to say Coack K....

Got pissed off, and called him an ******* for no reason.....

Coach K is a Prick...

I played Basketball at UNCW, Back in the early 80's. I was helping at a small basketball camp at Cambell College, (this was before the days of super camps).

Jim V., Dean Smith and Coach K were all there.

Jimmy V. was the nicest person you could ever have met. He was on the court having a great time with all the players no matter their talent level.

Dean Smith was in his 50's and not as agile as V so he watched alot from the side of the court. He would talk to anyone who had the nerves to start a conversation with him, friendly but not as outgoing as V.

Coach K would blow off anyone who tried to talk to him, we started calling him Coach A for ASS Hole.

Lee Mazzilli- I walked next to him on the boardwalk in Wildwood NJ side by side for about a mile. He was so pleasant and we had a great conversation about baseball. This was in the summer of '93 when i lived there.

Ned Bolcar(ND linebacker)- I was working out at same gym as he was when i was in high
school. He was a nice enough guy to spot a skinny kid like me and he also
gave me some tips on what exercises to do to build mass. He signed an autograph for me during his workout and everything.

Now for the bad
Joe Theisman- No personality and was mean when he told me he didn't
want to be bothered. I towered over him. He was very short. I still cannot believe how successful he was. How the hell could he see over the offensive line. I guess he was blessed with enough talent like Flutie was to overcome his height at that position. He is listed as 6 foot. There is no way he is six feet tall.

I did have a few conversations with Lefty Dreisell now that I think about it...we were high school kids and Lefty would talk to us in the stands while he watched High school prospects.
