max, don't be so skeptical of UW. You had to see them to understand. They have been on this upswing all spring and summer long. Their performance in the LSU game came as no surprise to those of us who have been following closely.

In Stanford's case, the line is right. I'm waiting for it to get bet up some more, then I may play the Cardinal small. Another thing. Stanford is now in their 3rd year with Harbaugh as their HC. Their OL is one of the best on the WC and they got some big boys out this way. USC and Cal to name a couple more. Opening holes the way they did for Gerhart was no fluke. Their OL is big, strong and experienced. Also, their young QB Andrew Luck looks like the real deal. There were several new QB's starting last Saturday and he played the best of them all, competent to say the least, albeit reigned in because Harbaugh is taking it slow with him. They didn't need much from him anyway because they dominated the line and didn't really require any more than that. It would be wiser to think that they could sneak up on Wake rather than to take anything away from their performance vs WSU.

******************************************************

Hey, anyone catch ASU last Saturday? Not bad at all. Sullivan played better than expected and their defense was as expected too. I still think they may be a little weak offensively but their defense seemed to live up to its billing. We'll learn some more as time goes by but so far so good. They might come out vs UGA in 2 weeks tougher than I thought they would.

I guess it's just hard to wrap my head around Washington being a 3td favorite, but maybe you're right, they were definetly impressive against LSU.

Burfict is gonna be the best LB in the nation in 2 years IMO. Best LB to come out of H.S. in Cali aside from D.J. Williams that I've ever watched.

After giving it some more thought, I like UW a lot in this spot. Take a look at their competition here and how long it's been since UW has won a game! This opportunity has blowout written all over it.

I may not be a died in the wool Husky fan but this is going to be good for the whole conference and I'm glad to see this happen. Better TV for everyone too. Their aggressive OOC schedules are going to pay off big in due time. Regardless of how strong the Pac-10 may eventually become, there will be no 4-0 patsy scheduling out this way!

They are going to schedule more realistically going forward. 1 patsy, 1 BCS and one Mid tier team. That is their goal.

... and a very reasonable policy it is too. Better than you know who. If every Pac-10 team did that much or better, which I think is how it is done now (at the very least), there will still be plenty of good games to see every year. That still leaves us with 2-3 possible marquee match-ups per week for the entire conference during the OOC part of the season.

There is no way USC wins this game. This is going to be 1 of 3 losses this season. ND and Cal will also be a great moneyline play agains USC this year.

Moevao has a great attitude on the field, bringing a lot of positive energy into the huddle.

The rest of the article is a bit twisted. I don't know what goes on in Paul Buker's head, sometimes I have seen him lay an egg or two in the past. Riley is the ever watchful game planner which is probably the best way to interpret his comments.

Thanks for the "head's up on writer Paul Baker. This is the 1st article I've read written by him.

I'm not experienced/familiar with his articles, so I defer to your expertise.

Thanks! :toast:

Yeah yeah. Burfict also decommitted from USC to go to ASU. That's what friends are good for.
I think him taking back his commitment had more to do with his grades. He couldn't qualify for SC. His senior year he had to take 4 or 5 online classes just to graduate.

Pags, you go Bro! That was a cheap shot and did absolutely nothing good for anyone here on this board. On top of all that, it was a downright lie! There should be more guys like you in this world and a lot less touts. Most of them are unemployable flunkies that couldn't hold down an honest job. Many of them never have. 95% of them are grifters and liars. Hell of a place for anyone to send their hard earned money.

Man....what the hell are you smoking Conan?? A cheap shot at what?? You make no sense. I've read a lot of your posts over the last 5-6 yrs. and usually your a pretty decent guy, but now you attack me over some little comment to Pags that doesn't even concern you??? Not too mention it's just a comment over one lousy game. Are you attacking everyone that's not playing USC this weekend?? I know your a USC homer but your post goes way beyond a timid post i made about the USC/Ohio st. game. I'm almost certain I have never made any disparaging remarks towards you over the years. Please explain?? I think Pags is one of the best guys around on any forum and have always said so. In fact I have always played many of his games he posts and follow him more than anyone else around. That's the reason I really don't post much anymore and the fact that I work a lot of hours as well. Pags knows I never ever said anything negative towards him for many years here or any other forum for that matter. I'm not sure I understand your post. Maybe you could elaborate. Thanks.

I don't know....maybe you think I'm one of Kodiak's ghost since gyno posted that comment, but I assure you I'm not and Wilhem can verify that. I would love to know the real reason behind your hateful comments.

That is the same information I got from people very close to the USC program. SC didn't think he would qualify and told him so.

Sportsmonitor, maybe you read that wrong. When I said "another" (shot in the dark) I was not specifically referring to you, but rather the numerous numerous comments made by many people again and again over the years predicting USC would fail and every time USC blows them out. Time and time again. That was the gist of my remarks. I saw nothing hateful in that.

Aside from that, I was defending Pags and I'm not even sure that was directed at you. If something I said in defense of Pags seemed over the top, then I apologize for anything personally taken. IMHO, Pags is one of the class acts in this forum.

Bottom line, it was nothing meant to be taken in a hateful way and nothing meant personally about you for sure. There are plenty of touts here that don't like to see all those free winners. It hurts their business when someone draws attention away from all their hype. Peace out. :103631605

Buker isn't all that bad incubus. But he has come off with a few wild ideas in the past that I though were a bit strange. I even quit reading him for a while but he has done some redeeming work since.

PS... USC's history vs bigtime opponents over the years in OOC games is probably one of the most compelling resasons why I like them to do more of the same in this spot. I just see OSU as yet another one of their highly touted and highly defended future victims like the others that came before them.

Conan-

No problem. Your post just seemed like it was directed at me for some reason and I couldn't figure out why. I'm definately anything but a tout hence the name "sportsmonitor". If you read my first posts several years ago they were all directed toward those scumbag touts and sportsmonitor services who bilk and cheat people out of everything they have. I know for a fact some of those sportsmonitor services take money under the table and doctor the results to make certain touts look like they can hit 70% of all their plays. I hate those pricks with a passion. I could go on and on but what's the use it's like beating a dead horse. If I can help a guy save a thousand dollars or more by not purchasing scamdicapper picks then that's all I care about.

Anyway, about the USC game......my initial thought when the lines came out Sunday night was to pound USC hard, but then I started hearing and reading about everyone else wanting to do the same thing. I thought man "where have I heard this before". Every year something like this happens where guys are making their "Game of Year" two weeks into the season and end up pissed off the rest of the week because they just lost their entire paycheck on one game. I love USC this game but I gotta go against the public on this one. Just like last week when everyone's best pick of the week was Minn. and Penn st. and look what happened. I liked both of them as well but couldn't decide which game I liked more so I ended up teasing the two teams. I had a suspicion one of the two teams were definately not going to cover straight up since Joe public was all over both of them so that's why I ended up teasing them. Pure luck.
On paper it looks like USC is a no brainer and should win by 21-28 pts. but I just think something smells rotten in Denmark on this game. If I'm wrong then that's great. Everyone else in the world gets rich. That doesn't bother me one bit when the books get smashed....I love it! I really don't think Ohio st is that good this year and won't even win the Big Ten. I don't think Ohio st. will win the game but for some crazy reason I think some how....some way.....they cover.

By the way.....your one of the best if not the best Pac 10 guy around so keep those picks coming. I for one appreciate it. Thanks.
