Willie,
I believe the crew on the flight had to work Monday. (This happened Sunday night)

There is an argument they could have had to rent a car, but I don't think we know what time they had to work.
The doctor had to work a shift right when he got home. That's why he didn't want to miss the flight. He's a paying customer, so if anyone's renting a car, it should be the United employees...

It's just a shitty airline with shitty employees led by a shitty CEO. Nothing more, nothing less.

Your ability to read and comprehend is the one who gets an F

I stated airlines policies....not the fact that the guy was a minor.

I stated rules based on the amount of the delay. Over 2 hours it is a higher amount capped. He doesn't continue to increase if the delay is overnight. He gets his choice...voucher or a check. Where is your proof the rules change once it is scanned? There is no way for them to know for sure the plane is overbooked until everyone has checked in.

I understand that third grade in Arkansas was 5 years of your life that you wont get back....dont worry fourth grade will be much shorter if you pay attention to the teacher.

You bore me with your poor arguments as to why the passenger was right. He was personally responsible for delaying a plane full of people who did not break any rules and wanted their flight to leave. You don't like it...don't fly United. I personally have no problem with what United did. My bigger problem is everyone saying how bad United is and how the guy was wronged. He should have left the plane peacefully taken the $1350 compensation for the overnight delay.

sure, just because you stated some
of the terms and conditions on the back of the ticket, does not mean you stated facts on this topic. I could tell you that once you've boarded you can't switch seat numbers, which is on the back, and say look in right because I stated facts. But it is just as irrelevant in this situation. There is NOTHING on that ticket that says you must leave the already boarded plane to make room for united employees, which is what I stated and you linked an article written by an author who can't even get the situation right. Facts aren't that hard to follow, we can play the if game all day long, but if you follow the facts here then it does not meet the T&C you agree too when purchasing a ticket.

Nice try again on the personal attack. But you've shown your level of intelligence here. Not that hard to see.

The level of tone deafness here is just amazing. I can't believe the CEO responded this way. You'd think they were getting a shoe bomber off the plane or something.

i guess by the time you drive to airport, park, go through TSA, get busted up by airline employees, treated at hospital, and return to airport... then, yes, well worth the 4.5 hour drive

As someone that travels a lot, let me give you a reason why it's easier to make that flight. Chicago is a huge airport for connections. Many might be making a connection there to get to Louisville, so the drive gets a lot more complicated. I recently was faced with a similar timing issue and looked at renting a car. Many rental car companies have ridiculous charges that steer you from doing this, for instance, I was looking at making a 3.5 hour drive instead of a flight, but was going to drop the car off at 5 A.M., the rental car company wanted like $200 just to drop the car off before they were open. Something a company like united could negotiate in a contract with a rental car company and not ever have to worry about, but the average joe could never get around.

So not just timing you have to consider.

Also, whoever said the CEO is tone deaf is absolutely correct, he is looking at this as this guy is a burden and we did nothing wrong. It amazes me how many top brass people in companies are becoming this way.

who needs civility? cmon, treat em like cattle herd.................didnt this airline have another recent incident? tossing two young females for wearing leggings?

following the incident , the doc was clearly in shock.

..........

The Chicago Department of Aviation said in a statement Monday afternoon that the incident was "not in accordance with" standard operating procedure and the officer's actions were "not condoned" by the department. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave effective Monday pending review of the situation, the department said.

The one before this, they were in the Right.
Because ......... They were Flying with a Buddy Pass ( they call it something else )

It means that either a Friend or Family works for the Airline and they were either flying Free or on a Discount.
In this case when you fly this way, All Airlines consider you as an Airline representative and must have proper attire when flying.
No Shorts, sandals, ripped Jeans, etc.. ( guess in this case, Leggings )

I don't see an issue with how the Aviation officers responded. I fly through Chicago frequently and I believe the Aviation officers are members of the Chicago PD and are going to take any call to board an aircraft and remove a passenger as a serious threat. Once the police get involved if you're going to act like a lunatic ranting and raving and disobeying direct commands they are going to forcibly remove you from the aircraft.

United's handling of the situation, or lack thereof, is another story...

they are not. Chicago airports have approx 300 unarmed aviation officers and 200 armed chicago police. the guys that entered the plane were glorified, unarmed (thankfully), TSA agents as far as what has been reported. Either way they will be put on paid leave especially the one that dragged the fella 20 rows.
