I always wanted to get bumped and would make a deal that I would give up my seat for whatever voucher and first class on the flight i got bumped to. Make it worth my while and they did it for me a few times.

Once he's asked to leave, and he doesn't its trespassing. He should have left on his own, were they supposed to cancel the flight for him. Property rights always come first. He has a case for not getting what he paid for, but he shouldn't be rewarded for breaking the law.

A voice of reason.

One of the problems in the USA right now is there is no respect for authority. In this case air marshal. Next week it will be a police officer. The following week it will be a highway patrol. Too many people think they can do whatever they want and then want to claim to be the victim.

The guy was asked to leave the plane. Plain and simple get your ass off the plane.

What would you have done FZ when he refused to get off? I mean, he was randomly selected to get off.

They obviously weren't offering enough cash to get people to move. Instead of dragging a guy, and knocking him unconscious, an easy solution
for the airline (with much better PR) is to offer more $$$$ until you get one person to bite.

I agree with you to an extent, the guy should have complied. But when he doesn't, the answer is not to physically drag him off the plane - bloodying his face, and knocking him unconscious in the process.

United CEO email to employees obtained by ABC's @Shahriar44R: "there are lessons we can learn from this experience"

The guy is a doctor who wanted to get home to see patients. $800 is chump change to him.

I certainly didn't say it wasn't and I actually made no reference to the doctor so not sure why you brought it up. It is surprising though that out of a full plane, they couldn't find more people willing to take the deal. Maybe they were all doctors.

In the words of Rodney King.....cant we all just get along?

After he resisted arrest multiple times, fighting with the police officers.....before getting his ass kicked....then suing the city for millions. Sounds like the easy route to become rich. Do whatever you want and then play the victim card.

"I apologize for having to re-accommodate these customers," Munoz said. "Our team is moving with a sense of urgency to work with the authorities and conduct our own detailed review of what happened. We are also reaching out to this passenger to talk directly to him and further address and resolve this situation."

Ahh not that black and white though, so don't try to make it. He purchased a ticket and was allowed to board.

Lets also stop calling this overbooked. My issue in all of this is here, it wasn't over booked with tickets sold. They sold the right amount of tickets but decided to bump people to accommodate their business.

In business there is a cardinal rule, never take something away from someone, customer/client, employee, etc. it will ALWAYScome back to haunt you. Once they allowed that plane to board full, your crew must make different plans to avoid a PR nightmare. Or you buy those seats back, yes I understand they tried, but they called the figure too low aperently.

you can't compare this to the police situations. Just can't, it similar in any way! This man purchased a ticket and was allowed to board. That's a huge difference than a thug not putting a gun down and getting shot. Thug deserves it, United customer did not.

You our guys are forgetting he purchased a ticket and was allowed to board.

He had no legal rights it is on the ticket he purchased. In 2015 over 46,000 passengers were kicked off the plane just like this guy. Rules are he can get compensated up to $675 for a 2 hour delay and $1350 for a 4 hour delay in the form of a check. Each airlines have rules in regards to passenger they will give priority to. Usually someone with handicap or a minor traveling alone.

The passenger was the problem...end of story.

Dude, your justifications are off topic.

We we aren't talking about 2-4 hour delays.

No one in this discussion is handicapped or an unaccompanied minor. Show me where it says united employees trump paid ticket guest on the bump list and I'll agree with your positiOn.
