Today's Complimentary Selection

We nailed No. 2 in a row yesterday as the Mariners took care of business in easy fashion. We’re making it 3 in a row tonight as we’re taking the Cubs at home against the visiting Braves.

We gave out the Cubs as our paid Top Play yesterday and delivered. Tonight, I’m backing the Cubbies again.

The Cubs come into this game having won 5 of their last 6 overall and 8 of their last 9 at home.

On the other side, the Braves come into this game absolutely struggling lately. Atlanta has now lost three straight games and have lost 9 of their last 12 on the road, including 5 of their last 6 away from home.

Now the Braves turn to scheduled starter Javier Vazquez, who has fared just about as well as Atlanta has lately. The Braves are just 2-6 his last 8 starts and have lost each of his last 3 starts on the road.

Things won’t get any better for Vazquez and the Braves as the Cubs hand them another loss. Take Chicago at home in this one tonight.

Complimentary Selection

Barry Zito (4-8, 4.82 ERA) is 3-0 in four career starts against the Marlins, but he has struggled in his last four starts overall, going 1-2 with a 7.40 ERA.

And Florida has ripped apart southpaws this season, at 20-10.

Right-hander Josh Johnson (7-1, 2.76) has become the ace of the Marlins, with 14 quality starts in 17 outings this season.

He struggled in his last start, however, allowing one run on five hits and four walks in 3 1/3 innings Wednesday against Washington. Despite only giving up one run, he was pulled after 89 pitches because of his ineffectiveness.

What that tells me is that, even when Johnson is off, he’s still able to minimize any potential damage. He has a 2.70 ERA in three starts against the Giants, but has never beaten them.

I think that is going to change today as I’m looking for Johnson for have a solid outing after being named to the National League All-Star team Sunday. Go with the Marlins.

Cincinnati Reds at Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies hammered the Cincinnati Reds last night 22-1 to open their three-game series last night. The Reds have lost their last two games by a combined score of 32-2 and it can only go up from here. Cincinnati is 9-0 over the past two seasons after losing back-to-back games with the opponent scoring eight or more runs. Not to mention they are 10-1 when coming off a loss by six or more runs. Go with the Reds

Seattle blanked Baltimore last night and the M's get the call at home again tonight. Home field has treated the Mariners well of late as they are 8-1 in their last 9 home games. They are also 14-3 in their last 17 games as a favorite. The M's send Bedard to the hill, who is 3-0 with an ERA of 2.00 over his last 3 starts, and the Mariners are 6-0 in his last 6 starts vs. a team with a losing record. The Orioles have dropped 5 of the last 6 in this head to head series and I'll fade them tonight.

New York Yankees @ Minnesota Twins

PICK: Under 9

Look for CC Sabathia to bounce back from a rare poor performance. He's not pitching at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.

Sabathia has a 3.12 ERA in 27 starts pitching at the Metrodome. He has a 1.24 ERA in his last four starts versus the Twins.

Prior to his 8-4 loss to Seattle last Thursday, Sabathia was in a nice groove going 6-1 with a 2.82 ERA in his last previous 10 outings.

This will be just the fourth time in 18 games the Twins will face a lefty.

After a bumpy start, Scott Baker has come on to go 4-0 with a 3.20 ERA in his last six starts for Minnesota. Baker is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees.

Both team's ace closers, Mariano Rivera and Joe Nathan, are rested.

The under has cashed in eight of Minnestoa's last nine games. The Yankees are 9-4-1 to the under in their last 14 road contests.

This is a one-unit play for me.

St Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers

Play: St Louis Cardinals

This is a great pitching match up between a pair of 8-5 pitchers with good era's. Right now these two teams are even in the loss column and St. Louis has two more wins so the Cards are in first place. Look for each starter to go 7 or more innings and the bullpens to be solid with St. Louis coming out ahead in the end 4-2 as Pujols has a better day at the plate then Fielder.

NY Yankees at MINNESOTA

Despite CC Sabathia's recent numbers against Minnesota - 4-1 last 5 starts, 5 runs allowed in 37 innings of work! - we will be playing tonight's Yankees-Twins game to go OVER the posted total.

New York just went OVER the posted price in yesterday's 7-6 loss to Toronto, as they have now gone OVER in their last pair of games, and 3 of their last 5 overall.

Minnesota's Baker sports a season ERA of 4.99, so there is a strong chance the cranking of late Yankees bats will inflict more damage on Baker and his mates tonight.

Last season, 4 of the 7 meetings between these teams at the Metrodome went OVER the posted total, and we like tonight's meeting to sail HIGH as well.

Play on the OVER in tonight's New York-Minnesota meeting.

Oakland at BOSTON

Now on a 6-2 comp play run thanks to a Monday winner on the Angels!

For Tuesday, G-Man on the Red Sox on the RUN LINE to dispose of the Athletics.

Boston was blanked 6-0 last night, but Red Sox starter John Smoltz is a former shell of his self, and tonight's hurler Josh Beckett is going to present Oakland with plenty of trouble.

Beckett is 4-0 with a 2.87 ERA at Fenway Park this season, and I fully expect him to be through 7 or 8 frames without allowing more than 1 run to score.

Boston is not likely to get shut down again tonight against Dana Eveland, as the Sox are still 26-12 at home this year, and they are 6-2 at home the last 8 times they have faced Oakland.

Go with Boston on the RUN LINE tonight, as they reverse the score from last night, and take this one by a 7-2 margin.

Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs

Prediction: Atlanta Braves

The Cubs are 0-9 when Ryan Dempster starts after a quality start and the Braves are 9-1 vs a team that has won at least their last two games. Atlanta is the most profitable team in the league when seeking immediate revenge for a loss in which they never led, going 50-23 as a 104 DOG on the average, making 32.65 units. The Phillies are a distant second at 39-23, making 17.65 units.

Consider playing Atlanta.

Cleveland Indians at Chicago White Sox

Prediction : Chicago White Sox -1.5

Mark Buehrle has been one of the best pitchers in the league for years and recently he has shown why. His last three starts he is 2-0 with 1.71 ERA. The CHW have owned CLE recently sweeping them in CLE less than a month ago. This WhiteSox team has won 14 or last 20 games and many of these wins were on the road. Today for CLE Sowers will take the mound after several really poor starts. Less than a week ago he was pounded by this same CHW team. Sowers is 0-5 with a 6.23 ERA in six starts against the White Sox. In three outings against them this season, he’s allowed 13 runs and 23 hits over 16 innings. At the plate CLE has been so up and down whereas CHW have been putting up an average of 5 runs per game in the last 15 games.

NY YANKEES vs. MINNESOTA

The New York Yankees have not lost to the Minnesota Twins(43-40) this year and this will be the first time CC Sabathia will face them. Coming off just their second loss in 12 games. The Yankees starter Sabathia (7-5, 3.85 ERA) has been outstanding in recent years versus the Twins posting a 1.24 ERA in winning his last four starts and the veteran left-hander is 12-8 with a 3.12 ERA in 27 starts against Minnesota.Minnesota has won 15 of its last 23 games and start Scott Baker (6-6, 4.99) who is 4-0 with a 3.20 EERA in his last six starts. The right-hander allowed one run and five hits in five innings to earn a win in Minnesota's 2-1 victory over Kansas City on Tuesday night. Baker is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two career starts against the Yankees, who are averaging 6.6 runs in their last 12 games. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez is batting .370 with 21 homers in 55 games at Minnesota has five homers in his last 11 games at the Metrodome. The Yankees are perfect against Minnesota and they always hit well in the Dome.with the New York bats averaging over 6 runs a game in their last 12, they will have no problem continueing their dominace over the Twins with CC on the mound.

Craig Davis has a 100 dime play today, the biggest of his career.. I usually don't follow him but he's been solid with his bigger plays and this might be worth a look.

Alatex would probably be the best one to get for a month for MLB. He's been the absolute best MLB capper from Sportsmemo so far this season going 58-32 for the entire season so far. Tim Trushel aka TSC has been on a strong run lately too especially with his 20* plays on a 20-7 run. Alatex and Tim Trushel are probably the top two so far this season at Sportsmemo for MLB not to mention they don't get posted as much as Teddy or ER so Alatex or TSC is likely a good choice for you.

THose two are bought by someone. Check out Greg Shaker at Pregame dot com under the pro picks. Year in year out tough to beat, having another big year. THey offer a good discount for first time buys also. His record before play yesterday as follows FWIW FYI

GREG SHAKER
Time Frame Win - Loss - Push Percentage Units Earned
Yesterday 1 - 0 - 1 100% 2.00
Last 7 Days 11 - 3 - 1 78.57% 15.99
Last 30 Days 46 - 22 - 1 67.65% 51.90
The last 30 days is above...Based on 90% being 2 Unit Plays. I think there were have had maybe 6 three Unit Plays last 30 days or about that.

Handicapper: IndianCowboy
Sport: MLB Baseball
Game: Cleveland Indians @ Chicago White Sox - Tuesday July 7, 2009 8:10 pm
Pick: 4 units (Play of the Day) TOTAL: Under 9 (+100)

4 Unit Play. Take Under 9 between the Cleveland Indians @ Chicago Whitesox (Tuesday @ 8:10pm est). These two teams and pitchers have already hooked up this year. Sowers just faced the Whitesox at home on July 1st and lost 2-6 and much like the revenge game we took for Washburn yesterday against the Orioles, it is in that same grain we take Sowers who has revenge against this team who he faced less than a week ago. Sowers gave up 11 hits in 6 innings and lost 2-6. I do not see him being hit that much today as he likely goes 5 to 6 strong innings and gives up 3 runs or so as he looks to keep pace with Mark Buehrle who is typically dynamite at home. Buehrle is 8-2 on the year with a 3.09 era and he faced Cleveland earlier this year as well and lost 0-4 on the road. He gave up 4 runs in 7 innings in that contest and I look to him to get his share of revenge here as well. Hence, I believe this game likely dips under the posted total as the Under is 4-1 in Sower's last 5 road starts and the Under is 9-1 when Buehrle faces a team in the AL Central.

thanks for posting this, anyone else have ic's wnba play, sky at monarchs? thanks
