By far the BEST and MOST INTERESTING thread I have ever read at RX or EOG combined.

My best friend from college is a Sunday morning handicapper. This year, I decided to keep a spreadhsheet of his plays. He spends about 30 minutes, doing whatever it is that he does, to come up with his "NFL Can't Lose Pick Of The Day". He calls me and I log it in the spreadhsheet. The guy started out 1-0 and has since been magnetically drawn to the losing side of the bet NINE fucking times in a row!!!!

I mean, it is AMAZING.

Now, if the games are indeed fixed, then why doesn't a retired athlete somewhere, come out of the closet and sell the story to 60 Minutes or whatever??? That is the whole cog in the theory. It doesn't add up.

Now, on the other hand, we all know that secrets can be kept amongst a very select few. Worlcom and Enron come to mind. My god, Enron faked an entire trading floor that previously did not exist because they knew an analyst was coming to visit their office. How is it that not one of these workers, who were shoved into to that "trading floor" did not blow the whistle? There were literally dozens of employees playing games with a California power outage and NO ONE at the time, TALKED.

My God, my fraternity was able to keep the location of our Chapter room secret from my entire pledge class for the better part of a year.

Undoubtedly, groups are capable of keeping secrets.

Loren is not insinuating that the games are fixed in the way in which we are thinking. As pointed out earlier, there are three elements to a game:

Players
Coaches
Refs

If I had to point to one group or another, it is the refs, by a long shot. First off, I can't name a single official from any sport, college or pro. These guys are totally under the radar. They are never interviewed. Their calls never make SportsCenter...at least their names are never rmentioned. When's the last time you saw or heard an interview with an official of any sport? They don't have to worry about slipping up during an inteview.

Secondly, especially in the NFL, how many possessions will a team get in a game? Maybe 8 or 10? A holding call on first and ten, late in the 1st quarter to negate a 3 yard run up the middle sets up 1st & 20. Totally under the radar. But 1st & 20 in the NFL???? What percentage of the time will that be a drive stopper? If you know a ref is good for just TWO yellow flags in an NFL game to stop a drive or keep one going, especially against an already deadly accurate point spread, you will win long term. Maybe not today, but if you have that ace in the hole long term, you will win. No two ways about it.

So how does the mafia control the refs and keep them quiet, long after retirement? I dunno. But remember that deal a few years ago about how Michael Jordan's dad was murdered in North Carolina? I still think there is a LOT more to that story than we will ever know. That is probably a big M.O. of the mafia...threatening someone's family member. And from time to time, they need an example...aka Jordan's dad.

Do I think the games are fixed? I can't say. Honestly, it seems like too much to cover up without getting a press leak somewhere. But at the same time, it wouldn't take very many people when you start narrowing the fix down to officiating. We know games have been fixed in the past. It's been documented. And those are only the situations we're aware of. As mentioned earlier, there are hundreds of millions of dollars at stake.

But if the industry is so organized that it can fix games, which benefits ALL sportsbooks, why was the industry so pathetically disorganized that they couldn't even form a lobby against Frist and the cocksuckers????

Loren is insinuating owners are a fourth element of a fixed game. Not sure how they do it, but my buddy and I have been talking for a number of years about how a shit team in the NFL gets a brand new stadium and within a few years, they're winning the superbowl.

A lot of unanswered questions, but this magnetic draw to the losing side of the equations (1-9) posted earlier is just too weird to write off to total chance. I mean, 1-9 with his most liked NFL pick of the day? Sure, he's as square as square can be, but multiply him by a few hundred thousand degenerate gamblers and that is what the sportsbooks had on these games.

I haven't done it, but I bet if you go back and look at those 9 losing picks, they probably all were on a team that had just come off an excellent game or two and the public was all over them. Just a hunch at this point, but I bet that's the case with those 9 losers. I don't follow the NFL that much, so I can't recall how those teams were doing at the time.

9 in a row, winners or losers...the odds of someone doing that is less than a 1% chance. Strangely convenient for the sportsbooks.

Guys....just to throw in another piece of the puzzle....Why the big fines if a coach or player even incinuates that an official has done a lousy job. They are untouchable. The NFL is a marketing machine. Are we to beleive that the parity in the NFL is created by free agency, or maybe the fact that a 12-1 team playing a 3-10 team creates less revenue than say two teams at 7-6 battling for the division.

Not so much anymore, but Mike Vicks first couple of years the Atlanta O line was untouchable. I mean, they would be tackling the defensive line/LBs of the other team with no call, while Vick ran around like a fool. He just happened to sell more jerseys for two years in a row than any other NFL player. Just so happens the Falcons sold out their season tickets for the first time in the franchises history.

Dont forget about the Gold Club scam in Atlanta, GA a few years back where the mob was videotaping and blackmailing male athletes having sex or getting blowjobs by the strippers in the VIP room. Most notably was Patrick Ewing. God only knows he had his share of games where you were wondering what the fuck is up with him...he is playing like shit!

It happens. The Gold Club story was in 97 or 98. Dont think it was an isolated incident.

Very interesting post there my friend, and yes there was a lot more to the story that the public will never know. And even if they were told, they would never believe it....

I just can't figure out why this thread is in the Rubber Room. Without a doubt, the most interesting thread I've ever read.

Now let me get this straight...both Billick and Jeff Fisher were fined for complaining about the offcials from last sundays game? Wow...sorry I missed the game but sounds like they did a bang up job. YOud think with 11 of them plus all those replay officials, cameras and super slow mo technology they would get it right..but then there are always those "non reviewable" game changing calls...

didnt read this whole thread yet but i remember in the superbowl when denver played atlanta; near the end of the game i believe atlanta went for a two pt conversion for no apparent reason except that the total pts was right near the number. i believe the number had moved during the week and this two pt conv was some kind of attempt of a cover or middle. Ironically this was never mentioned by tv commentators (why they went for 2) or never questioned by any reporters.

Well, yesterday my friend called me with is "can't lose NFL pick of the day". I don't even follow the NFL that closely, so I don't pay attention to the spreads very close. So he says, "Well, I've looked the whole card over and I just keep coming back to the Colts."

The Colts are 9-0 at Dallas, who is 5-4. The line is Colts pk.

I COULD NOT believe this game was pick 'em. I live in the Dallas area and listen to sports talk radio all the time. I was assuming the line would be Colts -5 or so. Even the Ticket radio announcers did a little piece yesterday morning about how "they never talk point spreads" but the Vegas odds makers were giving the Cowboys a 50/50 shot at a win. They too, were be-fuddled a little over pick 'em.

PICK EM????

The ONLY way you can set that spread at pk is to factor in how "due" the Colts are for a loss. Guess what? Point spreads don't factor in things like "due for a loss". They look at the athletes, the recent history and who is at home. Not...if the Colts win today they'll be 10-0 and looking good to run the tables...they're due for a choke.

My friend has lost 10 straight Sunday NFL picks in a row. After yesterday's game, I think he has been spotting what appears to be a mis-lined game, but what he is really spotting is BAIT.

I don't know how they're fixing these games and I am still not 100% convinced they are in fact fixed, but how the fuck do you lose 10 straight bets in a row???? All on your favorite NFL play of the day?

Books worst enemy...point proven again yesterday. Remember the Favre story, how he took his first Lambeau leap, and how the game was fun again? Clips of him throwing TDs, celebrating, the team making fun of him because he couldnt jump high enough? WOW! Im on GREEN BAY!!! Loser.

Remeber Irvin and crew going on the field showing the fans how Denver was going to STOP Ladanian? They actually showed them plugging up holes on him and him spinning right into Ditka...WOW!! Im on Denver!! loser.

There was the Bears clip about their special teams and the Jets probably could have covered the game line, but was a loser. So, at worst, by going against who the BIG pump up stories were, with the video clips and all, you would go 2-1.

I know there were a couple of other smaller stories, I beleive one was Indy and their REVIVED run defense with Bob Sanders and Booger McFarland...loser. I sure I missed another but you get my point. Fade them motherfuckers on ESPN pregame...

Oh, and lets not forget the Saturday pregame with Ohio State, Troy Smith, the one kid whose Dad is a wrestler (The Animal). There was some early pub on Michigan about Bo S, but it came right at 9AM CST when people on the west coast are still asleep. After 10 am CST it was all Buckeyes...loser.

Beleive it or lose it.

It would appear as if folks are beginning to catch on. You know during the week the guys over at sportsbook had New England getting less than 60 percent...against a piss poor Green Bay team. 3 weeks ago before the Indy loss, Pats would gotten about 85 percent of the juice and the line would have been - 12.5...

Check out CNNSI at least three times a week. They were criticizing the hell out of the Pats..headline read...Whats Wrong With New England....

Pats 35 Green Bay 0....

In two weeks the media went from...Brady greatest of All Time to Whats Wrong with New England

The name of the game is Psy-Op...and most of you should be use to it by now if you ever watched CNN for more than 30 seconds. They want you to think a certain way and so they focus on stories that mold your perceptions. Their suggestions become your thoughts without you even knowing....Right now they've got everybody talking about OJ Simpson. Now forget about whether he is guilty or not...and Think back to this case and how it went down....What did the case accomplish? Racial Tension...

This is why the when the verdict went down...they showed you a Split Screen showcasing how Black people reacted and how White people reacted. Why on earth would they do that in this day and age? What purpose did this serve but further divide people? Things were bad enough as it was and they go and pull and stunt like that....They wanted to cause racial tension on purpose...the whole damn trial was to get people angry at each other...and the whole goddamn country fell for it....

Now they come out with his book...obviously thats going to piss people off...now right on the heels of that fiasco they got this Michael Richards Racial outburst going on....what a coincidence that this whole nonsense goes down right after this OJ story about his book comes out....What is all this going to do....Create Racial tension....and they know it.....

Goddamn Television...News...Politics, religion and sports...one big psy-op....Turn the shyt off

Well, if my psy-op radar exists, I am seeing a point spread trap on Thanksgiving day. This is my first chance to get mud on my face with a prediction, but here goes.

1.) Dallas-Colts had a time change from 12:00 to 3:00 Sunday. I have been following football for a long time, and a time change in the NFL is pretty rare. Granted, it was a good chance for the Colts to lose their first game and the public probably wanted to see the game. Bottom line is, the entire country was watching as Dallas looked impressive in a 7 point home win over the Colts.

2.) Bucs are 3-7 SU this season.

3.) Everyone thinks this new Romo Cowboys football team is a COMPLETELY different, in-comparable football team to their predecesor, the 3-3 Bledsoe Cowboys. You should hear the Ticket radio here in Dallas. They are so high on Romo it is amazing. I even heard one announcer on the Ticket radio say, tonight, that Dallas will be in the playoffs...it's a done deal. The Cowboys have won a whopping TWO games in a row after losing to the 3-7 Redskins just 15 days ago.

The press is telling us we have a new and improved Dallas team that doesn't resemble the one from a month ago. I am not sure what they're saying about the Bucss. The Bucs won their last game, but they are still 3-7 on the season and 0-4 on the road.

I say take the Bucs and 11 points on Thanksgiving Day. Money line may be a little too greedy, but you have a Cowboys football team that most of the country saw look impressive on Sunday and the entire country will be watching on Thanksgiving. My guess is that even at 11, the public will be ALL OVER the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

How about George SeaFart going for 2 in a Playoff game down 20-16 when he was +3 at Atlanta. How about the 25-21 ref-aided comeback by NE over BUF which ended with the 2 point conversion with no D on the field. Gee, I wonder why Minny didn't go for 2 at Miami. Ah, no I don't!

Minnesota scored with 0:00 on the field. Why would they risk an injury and go for two?

Maybe you missed the game, guy who swears "Bush knocked down the Twin Towers," but calls those of us who think some sporting events may be manipulated, "idiots."

In a similar situation in 1998 the Pats gave 2.5 vs the Bills, which was steamed to 3.5 late. The Bills led throughout. The Pats, trailing 21-16 under a minute were escorted down the field by the refs calling one penalty after another, the last of which was one of the most horrible, bogus pass interference calls ever.

Finally, and inevitably, the Pats scored to go up 23-21 with .00. Disgusted, the Bills left the field. NE lined up and Flutie ran it in to complete the fix, killing the Bill's backers and the middlers.

This past Sunday, there would be no reason for Miami to play 'D' up by 5 now either, would there? But a '3' there would have murdered the bookies, just as it would have if the aforementioned Pats had merely kicked the extra point. So instead the Vikings chose to lose by 4. Coincidence? Possibly.

But what I find ironic is that a moron who, in every 9/11 thread in the Politics section of this forum, claims our government planned and carried out 9/11 and took down the WTC by controlled demolition, when overwhelming evidence points to the fact that islamic terrorists did it, can come in here and call posters who suspect funny business in the NFL idiots.

Anybody remember the first MNF game the season after Holmgren's Packers won their first Superbowl? Favored by 16 over an awful Bears team. Raymont Harris, 69 yards untouched, TD Bears, right after the 2 minute warning. 38-24. The Bears were so bad they couldn't throw; they had to hand it off!

No i'm a Dolphin fan and watched the whole game. Every second of the game. They scored with exactly 0:00 left and just kicked the XP. As for 9/11, that has nothing to do with this, so why even bring it up? You are obviously brainwashed and believe the government is our saviour, so there is no use debating that with you.

The fact is, NFL coaches are under so much heat it's unbelievable. If they lose a game their week is ruined. They have no reason to fix games to cover the number. They make enough money already, and if they need more they can get an EASY $500K by doing a commerical or two.

Also, do you honestly think abunch of thugs could keep this shit secret? Or do you think Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, or Tom Brady who are already making roughly $30M a year after endorsements would throw games for money? The pressure on NFL QBs and coaches to win is unbelievable, they have no reason to throw games to cover the number. The NFL makes enough money legally, they have no reason to throw games either. The incentive is simply not there.

Everyone who believes this shit is a gambling addict who needs to enroll in gamblers anonymous ASAP. Also, out of every game in NFL there is going to be some games where it looks like they are fixed for the lines, solely because there is 256 games in the regular season.

"No i'm a Dolphin fan and watched the whole game. Every second of the game."

I was talking about the NE/Buf game.

"As for 9/11, that has nothing to do with this, so why even bring it up?"

It doesn't. But I brought it up to illustrate that you think our gov't pulled that off, and was able to cover it up. You said so many times. I say Arabs did it. The reason I say that is because THEY DID DO IT, not George Bush and a bunch of Gov't Boogeymen. The reason I brought it up was to make a comparison. It would be a lot easier to get John Kitna to fumble the ball and lose to Minny 17-26 instead of 17-19 and cover that up than it would be for our gov't to carry out the 9/11 attacks by making 19 Arabs kill themselves by slamming planes into buildings, and then blowing up the WTCs. AND COVERING THAT UP. Yet you believe they did, yet laugh at those who think sports can be compromised.

"Everyone who believes this shit is a gambling addict who needs to enroll in gamblers anonymous ASAP."

Or you could follow your sense of smell, and laugh your a$$ off as the Cavs whittle away a big lead against Memphis.
