Fade Adams Wednesday Game Analysis
[h=4]Wednesday's Selection ...[/h] For Wednesday night in the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl, back Central Michigan as the unerdog as they play against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. As of 8:30 am when I release my selection, the Chippewas are the +6 1/2 point underdog. If your line is +6 1/2 or +7, I want you to buy the half point up on CMU.
Initially when the bowl pairings were announced, I had Western Kentucky checked off as my selection, and while I am not a big believer in going against my initial reaction, I am forced to do so in this spot because I do NOT see WKU getting the cover in this game. Oh, they may get the outright win, but this one is going to be close.
First of all, the Hilltoppers lost one of their main defensive cogs Q. Smith to a torn ACL in the next-to-last-game of the regular season. His 12 sacks are going to be hard to compensate for in this evening's affair.
Then there is the fact that head coach Willie Taggert left the team for the warmer climates of South Florida and will NOT be involved in this game. DC Lance Guidry will be the interim head coach tonight, while Bobby Petrino (don't get me started on this clown!) is waiting in the wings to take over the program in Bowling Green for the forseeable future.
Finally, closing the season at 2-4 both straight up and against the spread their final 6 games, while allowing 31 points or more in those 4 losses. Hard for me to be convinced that based on that lack of defense this team will be able to shut the door on the cover against the upstart Chipps who come into this game with 3 straight wins and covers and wins and covers in 4 of their last 5.
Central Michigan also gets the benefit of playing close to their home campus in Mt. Pleasant, and have sold-out their allotment of tickets for this game.
This is 3rd year coach Dave Enos' first bowl game with CMU, and I look for the Chippewas to be up for the call. Take the points in this one.
