Fade Adams Friday Game Analysis

[h=4]Friday's Selection ...[/h] For Friday night, Raise the Bar 1500♦ is Ball State as the underdog as they take on Central Florida in the Beef O'Brady's Bowl. At the time I release my selection your way, Ball State is a +7 point dog. If your line is +7 or dips to +6 1/2 points, I am instructing you to buy the half point up on the Cardinals.

The line on this game appears inflated for a couple of reasons. First off, UCF gets to play this game in nearby Tampa, but after seeing a 3/4 empty Qualcomm last night supporting San Diego State, I don't think for a minute the crowd is going to hinder "visiting" Ball State's effort tonight.

Also, Ball State QB Keith Wenning missed the last regular season game for the Cards with an Achilles injury, but Wenning has had almost 40 days to heal, and is listed as probable for tonight's affair, the first bowl affair for the Cards since the '08 season!

Look for Ball State to be a live underdog in this game, as they did go 4-1 against the spread in the underdog role this year. The Cards enter having won 6 in a row straight up, and their 17-4 spread mark as a road underdog since the 2009 season tells me this team likes to play with the proverbial "chip on their shoulder".

Central Florida had their issues when listed as the chalk this season, going just 4-6 when installed as the favorite, and the Knights were also just 2-3 straight up in games decided by a touchdown or less this year.

UCF did not go bowling last season, and are just 1-3 their last 4 bowl games under head coach George O'Leary. Must respect the running talents of Latavius Murray, and I understand that Central Florida is going to find the end-zone against a yielding Cardinals defense, but I am counting on a senior-laden offensive line for State to protect Wenning, as he dissects the UCF defense and keeps the Cardinals in this game all the way.

Live dog in Tampa-St. Pete tonight, take the Redbirds plus the points.

Fade Adams Saturday Game Analysis

[h=4]Saturday's Selection ...[/h] For Saturday in college football, Highest-Rated 2000♦ Winner #10 of 13 goes on the favored UL Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns as they take on the East Carolina Pirates in this afternoon's New Orleans Bowl. As of 10:05 pm eastern time on Friday night when I release my selection, the Cajuns are -5 point favorites in Vegas and offshore.

With the home crowd on their side once again, look for UL Lafayette to once again cash in with another New Orleans Bowl victory, this time over East Carolina.

Last year with a record-setting crowd of nearly 43,000 in the Superdome, the Ragin' Cajuns kicked a last second field goal to defeat San Diego State 32-30 as the near touchdown underdog. This year they are listed as the near touchdown favorite, but with another large crowd - all in Lafayette's corner - in the stadium, look for upstart UL Lafayette to be up to the task.

The Cajuns lone loss in their last 5 games came on a blocked punt TD by Florida in the closing seconds of regulation. The Cajuns were able to cover their last pair of games when favored, and missed a 3rd straight cover by a half point when they bested Western Kentucky by 4 as the -4 1/2 point chalk. QB Broadway presents a dual-threat that ECU is going to have to account for, and I just don't think the Pirates are going to be able to contain this kid for the full 4 quarters.

East Carolina did finish the year with an 8-4 record (same as UL Lafayette's), and people are pointing to their 28-23 win on this field over Tulane as some great achievement that they can play in the Dome without being bothered by the crowd...umm, UL Lafayette also played Tulane and dismantled them 41-13, so don't put too much stock in the Pirates win over the Green Wave.

The Pirates were just 2-3 against the spread in the underdog role this season, and while they did not play in a bowl game last season under Ruffin McNeil, they have lost their last 3 bowl appearances, and are just 1-4 straight up their last 5 bowl games overall.

Lay it with the Cajuns!

Trace Adams Sunday Night Game Analysis

[h=4]Sunday's Selection ...[/h] For Sunday, Week 16 of the NFL season, 1500♦ Raise the Bar Sunday Winner #6 of 7 is the visiting San Francisco 49ers against the Seattle Seahawks. At the time I release this pick to you, the Niners are the -1 point road favorites against the Seahawks.

Yes, I went with the 49ers last Sunday night plus the points in Foxbroro, and I am going to go with them once again this Sunday night in Seattle. I may wind up regretting this, but I honestly believe this SF team can go all the way to New Orleans in a month and play for the Super Bowl and that playing on the road for a second straight week and a 4th time in 5 games will NOT be too much for this team.

Perhaps if the Niners were playing another team I would not feel this way, but Jim Harbaugh does not like Pete Carroll, and the 49ers know that the Seahawks are breathing down their necks in the NFC West division. Yes, San Fran can clinch the division with a win next week at home against Arizona, but as Ben Franklin once said, "why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?"

Well aware that Seattle has posted 108 points the past 2 weeks in wins over Arizona and Buffalo, but as you know Arizona and Buffalo ain't exactly "tearing it up" right now. Also well aware that Seattle is rolling a perfect 6-0 both straight up and against the spread at home, but as you also may be aware, the Seahawks were "gifted" that Monday night win over Green Bay when the replacement refs blew the call back in late September.

Colin Kaepernick gives the 49ers a different dynamic, and the kid out of Nevada is now 4-1 as the starter of this San Francisco team. The 49ers won the first meeting this season (and they should have covered, but Harbaugh elected NOT to take the safety at the end of the game in the 13-6 win as the -7 1/2 point home favorite!!!), as the Niners have now won the last 4 series meetings with a 3-1 spread mark.

The Seahawks are improved, that is a fact, but the 49ers are for real and will show it with the division-clinching road win and cover tonight.

Fade Adams Monday Game Analysis

[h=4]Monday's Selection ...[/h] For Monday night, Top-Rated 1000♦ Best Bet is Fresno State as the double-digit favorite against the SMU Mustangs. As of 8:30 am eastern when I release my selection, the Bulldogs are the -12 point chalk over the Mustangs.

I am going to keep this short-and-sweet, as I am sure you all have better things to do this Christmas Eve then sit here and read analysis on this game....I do not think this game is going to be close at all.

June Jones used to coach in this very stadium not that long ago, and he did bring SMU to this very bowl game not long after, as his Mustangs roughed up Nevada 45-10 back in '09 in this contest. Ahh, but that was then, and this is now. This SMU team is not very good away from home, losing 4 of their 5 road games this season by an average of 21 points per game! Included in their road journeys is a very ugly loss against a terrible Tulane team.

The Mustangs are 1-4 against the spread on the highway this season, and now just 2-7 on the road since the middle of the 2011 campaign.

On the flip side, Fresno State was a wrecking ball this year covering 11 of 12 games, and averaging 40 points per game along the way. QB Derek Carr comes into this bowl game having tossed 36 TD passes!

FSU has covered 7 of their last 8 away from home and after missing bowl play last season under long-time coach Pat Hill, I expect State to come out roaring tonight under 1st year coach Tim Deruyter.

Lay it as the Bulldogs take this one by at least 17-points.
