SEC West is 35-1 against other teams this year. Sole loss was Arkansas losing to UGA.

not sure how bad all of this is yet.. But first thing that crossed my mind was we have a bye, followed by Colorado & Oregon St.. Gives us time to get the line healthy plus the latest injuries dealt with.. been a rough year

I am now a die hard Ducks fan, they sealed the deal on a $25 - 7 teamer for me Sat night. Mariota is the real deal and much faster than any QB I have seen in a long time and has a nice touch also and can throw a rocket also. Too bad they play so late at night for the rest of the country to follow on a regular basis. Losing Brown could hurt them though.

Red Eye, how big are the losses of TE Brown, a CB, and their Center? Looks like the Ducks are banged up coming out of Utah

Brown is out for the year...I don't see how we get past all of these injuries

Well, look on the bright side, that's probably the equivalent to 2.5 byes right there

Gonna be a tough call for the Raiders if they go 0-16 after they already went with Carr.

No doubt losing Brown will hurt but the bigger loss is Grasu, not only was he a 4 year starter but he was the guy that kept the O line together when they were depleted earlier this year, Mariota is the star but Grasu was the heart and soul of the Ducks.

SEC teams dont have the luxury of playing Pac 12 opponents as conference games.

Be nice to see one play a home and home series with a Pac 12 team, not back out of one like Texas A&M just did and Georgia before them. :103631605

obviously you're not including Tennessee.... we all were witnesses

And to think I gave his Vols credit to schedule a home and home agaisnt Oregon, for those that don't remember those two games combined score. Oregon 107 Tennessee 27

personally like the 6-team with #1 and #2 with a bye week....i haven't seen many years were #1 and #8 were so close that they deserved to be playing a KO game.

or even a 5-team with #1 getting bye....there's always been an aura around being "top 5" and that would make it really mean something.

RT, gotta agree. Haven't thought about a 6 or 5 team option...but that seems accurate (that #8 usually won't give #1 a game...but this year? That seems plausible). The issue is money. The NCAA is going to see this 4-team gold mine and say, "We can go to 8 teams and DOUBLE the revenue!"

Honestly, if it was an 8 team deal every conference would have representation....and a couple (SEC definitely) would get 2 in. 4 teams just doesn't make sense.

This point really doesn't need to be made (again), but the reason the SEC doesn't do home & home's against P12 teams is simple: they don't have to.

Of course they don't have to but they do anyway only to back out later and it's not because they don't like the accommodations in Eugene.

I was to lazy to read through the thread but I think when you have that many teams that are so good there are going to spots on the schedule that are tuff spots to win whether it be an emotional down, or winning on the road... this conference is just a monster to get through.

It use to just be georgia, flordia, tennessee, bama, lsu, and maybe auburn. add to that mizzu, SC, miss st, ole miss.. who and the hell can go undefeated against that slate? There is not another conference out there that has a team that could survive that, to many blow hards out there who let their love for their college team cloud their minds.

Just my thoughts but I would really like to see TCU or Baylor get a shot at the SEC .. I dont think they could win it but I would like to see them have a shot. OSU is to young to handle the mental part of it, I think Oregon is the best in the p12 they are just not improving and QB can only do so much, FSU is just lucky imo ( but you have to be to win it all )..

The SEC OOC scheduling is a complete joke- here is the proof:

Your #1 Mississippi St Bulldogs. Their OOC schedule has been...

So Miss, UAB, So Alabama and UT Martin!

But at least the rest of the SEC West has really proved they are the best by beating such powerhouses as:
Western Carolina (D2!), So Miss (again), Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Lafayette, Memphis, Presbyterian (D2!), San Jose State, Louisiana Tech, Samford (no, not Stanford, SAMFORD - oh yea, D2!), Lamar (D2!), Rice, SMU (winless!), Louisiana Monroe, Sam Houston St (D2!), Louisiana Monroe (sound familiar?), New Mexico St (at least it wasn't Mexico State but that is probably coming in 2015), Nicholls St (D2!), and UAB (yet again!).

The only half decent out of conference wins have come again Boise St (neutral field), Texas Tech (who gave up 82 to TCU), West Virginia (neutral field) and N. Illinois (at Ark).

They do have two good wins. LSU over Wisc on a neutral field in a game Wisc didn't have their starting QB and gave away the game, and Auburn over K State at K State - a game that is definitely a great win, even though K State made some mistakes.

So the mighty mighty SEC west has, in my opinion, 1 very good out of conference win, and 1 that was pretty good.

They have only PLAYED 4 games total against Big 5 schools. I'm not saying they aren't good, but I am saying, how can you know? It's absurd. And they all play 4 non-conference games instead of 3 like the PAC 12 and Big 12. And they fill that fourth game with garbage D2 schools late in the season so they essentially get a free bye week when everyone is the most banged up. And during that time, all the other conferences are battling it out in conference play.

The rest of the conferences need to either go to this kind of schedule (please no, for the fans sake) or force the SEC out of this. It just doesn't make any sense, and it's killer for the PAC 12 and Big 10 to keep letting it happen - or not adjust to it.

Lets face it, the SEC has successfully GAMED the system. Play only 8 conference games instead of 9 like the PAC 12 and Big 10 avoiding 1/2 the teams ending up with another loss and replace that game with a sure win against a D2 school. Smoke and mirrors. OH! It's sooooo tough to play in the SEC!!!! Total BS.

If you want a true playoff system all 5 power conferences should be made to play the same number of conference games to make it a level playing field, only playing 8 is a huge advantage over those that play 9, make it 8 or make it 9 just make it a level playing field.

EXACTLY. And penalize teams who schedule D2 opponents. Won't happen now that the SEC has ESPIN in their back pocket. Like I said they gamed the system and you have to hand it to them. Slive is slick genius.
