Illini, Herbstreit and Corso are always saying some current player is one of the best ever. That's their job. They're part of the problem of over-hyping. After Tebow has come and gone and the next college football Golden Boy of the moment is being talked about, they'll also call him one of the greatest ever.
About fullback-style running, it's definitely not in style at the moment. There's a real shortage of true fullbacks at both the college and pro levels, but if you get a chance to see clips of guys like Mike Alstott, Darryl Johnston, Tom Rathman or any of the good fullbacks who got to carry the ball on a semi-regular basis in college, they run like Tebow runs -- hard, up the middle, not many moves but bulling tacklers at the end.
