Trace Adams Sunday Play with Analysis

For Sunday afternoon, 1500♦ Raise the Bar Home Chalk Lock is the Chicago Bears as the favorite against the visiting Carolina Panthers. As of 6:00 am eastern time on Sunday morning, the Bears are the 7 1/2 point favorite against the Panthers.

Ron Rivera, the former Bears stand-out defender takes his life-support Panthers into Soldier Field this Sunday afternoon, and while it would make a nice side story if Carolina could somehow rise up and upset the Bears, I just can't see it happening.

Cam Newton is going through a sophomore slump, and is getting called to the carpet for his play by the media. Chances things straighten out against this opportunistic Chicago defense are slim and none. I think it is fair to assume that Chicago will be able to force the pressing Newton into a turnover or two that will lead to some short field scores for the Monsters of the Midway.

Chicago is fresh off their Monday night division win - but no cover thanks to a Detroit TD in the final minute of play - as the Bears are now alone atop the NFC North with a sparkling 5-1 mark. They have also covered in 9 of Jay Cutler's last 11 starts. Offensive coordinator Mike Tice sure looks like his had the right mix going at this point in the season, and Brandon Marshall's presence has been a real boon to this Bears offense.

This is just Carolina's third road game of the year, and while they are 1-0 against the spread as a road pup this season, they are only 5-10 against the line as the road underdog since 2010.

Just cannot find many positives right now on the Carolina ledger, while everything is coming up roses at this point for the Bears. No toe stub here,Chicago by 13-points minimum.

Trace Adams Monday Play with Analysis

For Monday night, going to side with the home underdog Arizona Cardinals plus the points as they host the visiting San Francisco 49ers. As of 8 am eastern time when I release this selection, the Cards are +7 point dogs to the Niners.

Arizona's 4-0 bolt from the gate has come to a crashing halt, as Ken Whisenhunt's squad is currently mired in a 3 game tailspin, and an 0-3-1 spread slide their last 4 times on the gridiron. Not sure if the straight up slide is going to be halted tonight, but taking the points with the Monday night home underdog is too good of an opportunity to pass on.

Arizona has proven to be a solid money-making prop when listed in the underdog role, as their 3-0-1 spread mark this season indicates. John Skelton will look to stay on his feet, as the 'Zona offensive line has not given their QB's too much protection these past few weeks (7 sacks allowed last week against Minnesota), and if he can just stay upright, I like our chances to stay inside of this roomy impost.

San Francisco's offense has had its struggles their past pair of games, and I am not sold on Alex Smith being able to have his team put some distance between them and the Redbirds in this spot on the road. The Niners are on a 2-4 road spread slide, and they did lose outright late in the season last year in Arizona by a 21-19 count in a game they were the field goal favorites.

With both teams struggling on offense, going to have to look for the defenses to go toe-to-toe tonight, and both are among the league's upper-echelon units. That being the case, the points become very valuable in my eyes.

Finally, John Skelton has yet to lose a game that he has started at home - 7-0 straight up, and 6-1 against the spread. Going to look for that stat to hold some water tonight, and for the Cards to be there with the points.
