Trace Adams Thursday Play with Analysis
For Thursday night, 1500♦ NFL Winner #4 of 5 is the Minnesota Vikings as the home favorite against the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At the time I release this selection, the Vikings are listed as the 6 1/2-point home favorite both in Las Vegas and at the offshore books.
Last week we saw another underdog cover under the Thursday lights, as Seattle managed to stay inside of the impost when San Francisco declined a safety in the game's final minute of play. That puts the Thursday night underdog at a whopping 5-1 this year with 5 straight covers!
Can the streak continue?
I say nay!
I went against the Vikings on Sunday when they pushed versus the Cardinals as the -7 point home favorite, but I will ride them in revenge in this meeting of former NFC North teams. Tampa did go into Minnesota last season on Week 2 and dump the Vikings 24-20 as the one-point pup, but a lot has changed since then.
For one thing, Minny is 5-2 straight up, going a perfect 4-0 at the Dome with a 2-1-1 home spread mark. I know Christian Ponder ONLY threw for 58-yards on Sunday, and I also know he has 6 picks the last 3 games, but guess what...Ponder and the Vikings ALSO know it and I think they will correct that issue with this quick-turnaround home date.
Tampa Bay last played on the road over a month ago, and the Bucs are off to an 0-2 straight up start on the highway this season. After their opening week win under 1st year coach Greg Schiano, the Buccaneers have now lost 4 of their last 5 games straight up.
Minnesota with a shot at doubling last season's low win total of 3 with a win tonight as they would push their record to 6-2 at the halfway point. I like them to do just that. I see this one being decided in the 9-point range.
Take the Norsemen as the home favorite.
