No doubt Justin Verlander rates the pitching edge this evening, or any evening when he pitches, but the value tonight rests with backing the underdog Giants.
For one thing, San Francisco has won 6 straight elimination games, and for another they are in their home ballpark for this game which means the Tigers lose one of their big bats with the pitcher having to hit for himself.
Detroit has been off a little too long for my liking and you saw a few years ago when that happened how the Tigers came out and laid an egg to the St. Louis Cardinals losing in 5 games.
Teams that have come into the World Series off a long layoff have actually lost the last 3 Fall Classic's, and 5 of the last 6 overall.
Barry Zito looked incredible in his Game 5 NLCS start in St. Louis, and now he gets a chance to work his craft in front of the home fans who have been harsh on him in years past.
