Trace Adams Thursday Play with Analysis

For Thursday night, 1500♦ NFL Winner #4 in a Row is the San Francisco 49ers as the home favorite against the visiting Seattle Seahawks. At the time I release this selection, the Niners are the 7 point home favorite both in Las Vegas and at the offshore books.

Last week it was another underdog cove, as the Titans won outright as the home underdog against Pittsburgh. That puts the Thursday night dog at 4-1 for the season, 4 straight dog covers. That being the case, you have to wonder why the spread in this game is 7-points, especially when you consider the underdog in Seattle's games this season is a perfect 6-0 this year!

The Seahawks have a rugged defense that is likely to keep them hanging around against the 49ers, especially with Alex Smith coming off a less than inspiring effort in the Niners rematch with the Giants this past Sunday that led to a 26-3 thrashing.

San Francisco will want to get that bad taste out of their mouths right quick, and on the flip side Seattle may be a little emotionally flat after their rousing 24-23 outright home win over New England this past weekend.

The Niners are still 12-5 against the spread as the home favorite since 2010, and they have been able to win and cover each of the last 3 series meetings at home versus the Seahawks.

For Seattle, this is their third road game the past four weeks, and it also happens to be a road game with very short prep time to boot.

This one stays close until late, but in the end it is San Francisco that pulls away for the late 10-point win and cover.

Lay it with the Niners.

Trace Adams Friday Play with Analysis

For Friday night in college football, Top-Rated 1000♦ Winner #16 of 23 is the visiting Connecticut Huskies as the underdog against the host Syracuse Orange. As of 7:30 am eastern time, the Huskies are the +4-point underdog in this Big East battle.

Former Syracuse long-time coach Paul Pasqualoni's second season at the helm for UCONN, and he did lead the Huskies to a 28-21 win and cover last year in Storrs as Connecticut has now won and covered the last 5 meetings against Syracuse. With this being Pasqualoni's first trip back to the Carrier Dome and I look for it to be one in which the Huskies cover again plus the points.

UCONN's defense is ranked 6th in the land, and with Syracuse committing 4 turnovers last weekend in a 23-15 loss at Rutgers (they outgained the Knights, 418-237 in total yards!), I think it is a safe assumption that the Huskies vaunted defense will be able to force a key turnover again tonight.

The last Orange home game under the Friday night lights was a 14-13 win but non-cover versus Pitt, and the fact of the matter is the Carrier Dome gets nowhere near as filled on a Friday night as it does on a Saturday afternoon. There is also the matter of the Orange's 4-14 spread mark their last 18 games, certainly a number that does not inspire wagering confidence.

Connecticut lost a tough one in OT last week at home against Temple, but they played that one without RB Lyle McCombs. McCombs is expected to be back for this one, so mark me down on a play on the Huskies plus the points.

The 'Cuse may end the 5 game series skid with the straight up, but I do not see them covering the 4-point impost.

Trace Adams Saturday Play with Analysis

For Saturday in college football, 2000♦ Double Your Wager Winner # 3 of 4 in the New Mexico Lobos as the road underdog against the Air Force Falcons. At the time I release this selection on Saturday morning, New Mexico is a +11 point road dog against the host Falcons.

After losing at home to Navy in overtime on October 6th, Troy Calhoun's Falcons were able to rebound with a scant 28-27 road win at Wyoming as the field goal favxoite. I expect the 3-3 Falcs to be just a little gassed when they tee it up against the surprising Lobos of New Mexico.

Bob Davie has done a bang-up job in his first season in Albuquerque, as he has the Wolves at 4-3 straight up with 4 straight point spread covers under their belt. Their 3 losses do come against some quality opposition; Texas, Texas Tech, and Boise State, and they almost pulled the upset of Boise State in the process.

Who says the coaching staff can't make a big difference? The team is averaging 280 yards per game rushing, ranks 2nd in the Mountain West in Rush Defense, and owns a sensational turnover margin.

On the flip side, Air Force is just 3-7 their last 10 lined games as the home chalk. New Mexico might shock the world and win this one outright. No doubt grabbing the overly-generous double-digits is an absolute gift.

The Lobos have dropped each of the last 4 series meetings, including an ugly 42-0 home loss to the Force last season. It is payback time. Take the points.
