Woodbine - Race #5 - Post: 2:57pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $45,000 Class Rating: 73

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#6 NEEVES (ML=4/1)
#1A MY ROSEBUD (ML=3/1)
#1 LUCKBEALADY NOW (ML=3/1)

NEEVES - This horse looks like a potential overlay in this field at M/L odds of 4/1. Finished fourth in last race at Woodbine but was close at the finish. Taking a trip down in the class scale; has the ability to make her presence felt. Three consecutive improved speed ratings (61-69-74) make this animal a solid contender. The recent speed rating of 74 is the top last race fig in the field. MY ROSEBUD - This animal could be tough this race, especially since Alderson rode last time out and now should be acquainted with this one. Tharrenos brings her right back. I propose you stay with this hot filly. Classic handicapping theory - 3rd or 4th start after a vacation generally leads to a big effort. This horse is live today. Another way to evaluate class is earnings per race. This animal has the uppermost in the group. I think she'll be close at the finish line. LUCKBEALADY NOW - This jock/conditioner duo has been producing a very positive ROI, right at +105. McAleney was aboard this filly last time out and was impressed enough to take the animal right back.

Vulnerable Contenders: #2 SKY STAR (ML=5/2), #2B QUALITY ASSURANCE (ML=5/2), #4 CONQUER THE SKY (ML=6/1),

SKY STAR - Likely won't make much of a mark today. QUALITY ASSURANCE - This filly hasn't had any recent good results in short distance races. Not easy to invest in her in this race. No pace in this bunch to help set-up her closing kick. CONQUER THE SKY - Don't think this entrant is worth 6/1 in this event.

Top HatGUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - NEEVES - Changing surface from the turf, at Woodbine, to the dirt today, this thoroughbred has a good chance to get her first victory.

Laurel Park - Race #10 - Post: 5:41pm - Maiden Special - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $40,000 Class Rating: 80

Rating: Golden DollarGolden DollarGolden DollarGolden Dollar

#8 MORE ON TAP (ML=5/2)

MORE ON TAP - This gelding is in superb form right now. Ran second in the last race and comes back quickly. Delacour drops this one in today for only his 2nd effort. Should do better than last out. I like this gelding. Has the uppermost earnings per start in this event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 JOHN JONES (ML=3/1), #4 TO BLAVE (ML=9/2), #1 FIELD SENSE (ML=5/1),

JOHN JONES - The fourth place finish last out coming after the extended rest time is surely not a healthy signal. This gelding finished outside the top 3 on April 23rd and wasn't near the winner last time out either. TO BLAVE - This gelding likely won't be right there at the wire. FIELD SENSE - Substandard speed rating last time out at Laurel Park at 6 furlongs. Don't feel this runner will improve too much today.

RACE #8 - BELMONT PARK - 4:46 PM EASTERN POST

The Allied Forces Stakes

6.0 FURLONGS TURF THREE YEAR OLDS STAKES $100,000.00 PURSE

#8 READY FOR RYE
#3 SPEIGHTSTOWN TIME
#1 DISCO PARTNER
#9 SARATOGA DREAMER

Here in the initial running of this stakes test for three year olds, named in honor of Allied Forces, a graded stakes winner here on the N.Y.R.A. circuit who shows the great Mr. Prospector, and Native Dancer on his "family tree" ... #8 READY FOR RYE, the pace profile leader, comes off back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in his last two outings and has hit the board in each of his last five starts, adding another "Circle Trip" to his past performance sheets in his 5th race back. Jockey Javier Castellano was in his irons for each of those 5 "board hit results," and is back today here in Elmont for his 6th ride, gunning for a "Grand Slam Win!" #3 SPEIGHTSTOWN TIME, an 8-1 shot, is the overall speed leader in this stakes field, and comes off a "POWER RUN WIN" to break his maiden in his "first asking."

DRF HARNESS

Race 7 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Best Bet (41 - 60 / $145.20): VINCENT VAN GO (4th)

Spot Play: FAT AND POE (2nd)

Race 1

(2) EXPLOSIVE POWER just needs to stay trotting for a chance to score at a price. (1) LIMA PIZZAZ is listed with having broken equipment last week but that's two races in a row where the filly has completely stopped; command a price. (4) SCAT KITTY CAT just missed last week and should be primed for an improved effort third start back off a year layoff.

Race 2

(7) FAT AND POE just missed at this level a few starts back and looks to have some upside. (3) SILVERSTARVICTORIA has flashed a good burst of speed but has been inconsistent from week to week. (4) GOING SHOOTEN has been competitive at this level and gets a good starting post with options.

Race 3

(5) BOYS ROUND HERE has paced much faster than most of the field in a good portion of his starts. (7) LEO is two for two in a new barn; threat. (3) POKER JOE has shown signs of a breakthrough in recent and should offer value with a low percentage pilot.

Race 4

(9) VINCENT VAN GO raced extremely well last week against much tougher. (8) IMA REBEL sophomore pacer makes his career debut off a few really nice qualifiers. (5) MACHO BURBON is the sleeper in the race if the pacer can mind his manners.

Race 5

(6) PISTOPACKIPIPER has been facing much tougher in Indiana. The pacer set his lifetime mark at this track against similar competition a few weeks ago. (7) DELIGHT FASHION was an impressive winner last week from off the pace; threat. (1) BIG MOON RIZING has ability but would need more to hit the top spot; use underneath.

Race 6

(3) REGAL MOTION bumps up a level but showed a big burst to sweep past late last week. The well bred 2-year-old faces older but could be a real good one. (5) SWAN ON ONE showed significant improvement in his last start. (1) SHOWMETHE Z TAM lightly raced filly was the top driver's choice and gets the best starting post.

Race 7

(1) DUNESIDE PERTTIE tough to endorse a horse 0 for 22 on the year, however the pacer is better than what she shows on paper. (6) JINXY'S DELIGHT mare made a break on a sloppy track in her last but gets sent out for capable connections. (7) ROCKN LEGEND any one of her last few efforts at this track is good enough to win.

Race 8

(2) RED SOLO CUP well bred stallion is the horse to beat facing weaker with a competent drive. (3) PRAY WITH ME doesn't win often but also faces much weaker. (6) JAYPORT PRINCESS well bred trotting mare has been off almost six months and could need a start but when ready is very fast.

Race 9

(1) LUCKY DALI filly pacer should offer a much better price this time out and is a huge threat if she minds her manners. (8) DANDY'S BEAUTY filly looked to be a really nice pacer at the beginning of the year. She did her best racing at this track and finds a much easier spot. (9) LITTLE MISS TORIE looks to be freshened up for a better effort off a nice qualifier.

Race 10

In a wide open and evenly matched race, (1) LIL AL BUNDY will offer a nice price and should be much closer turning for home. (6) ALLAMERICAN MOTIVE pacer just needs a smooth trip for a big piece. (7) TOO TALL TAMARAC has been sharp for the new barn; threat.

Preview: Royals (84-57) at Orioles (68-73)

Game: 3
Venue: Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Date: September 13, 2015 8:05 PM EDT

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost isn't worried about Johnny Cueto and the right-hander insists he's fine physically.

His recent performances, however, suggest something is wrong.

Cueto aims to snap the longest losing streak of his career and avenge a recent loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday night.

Acquired from Cincinnati on July 26, Cueto went 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA and held opponents to a .222 batting average in his first four starts with Kansas City.

There's been a complete reversal in his past four outings, with the projected ace going 0-4 with a 9.45 ERA while teams have hit .394 against him.

"I've got all the confidence in the world that he'll get through it," Yost said.

The four-game losing streak is the longest of Cueto's career and his most recent performance was his shortest in over two years. He was roughed up for five runs and seven hits over three innings in a 7-5 loss to the Chicago White Sox last Sunday.

"I'm not frustrated at all, but I'm a little bit disappointed I haven't been able to help the team the way I was supposed to help this club," Cueto said through an interpreter.

Cueto (2-5, 4.86 ERA) wasn't sharp in his first meeting with the Orioles on Aug. 26, allowing six runs - all on a trio of homers - and eight hits over five innings in an 8-5 loss.

"Physically, he feels great," Yost said of Cueto. "Shoulder feels good, elbow feels good, back, legs. He's just going through a stretch right now."

The Royals (84-57) will try to avoid losing a third straight series after evening this set with Saturday's 14-6 victory behind Mike Moustakas' memorable game. He set a franchise record with nine RBIs, hitting a grand slam, a three-run homer and a two-run single a day after his 27th birthday.

"It's pretty special," Moustakas said. "I was just able to get good pitches, and I didn't miss them today."

Salvador Perez had two hits and three RBIs for the Royals, who won for only the second time in eight games but still own a very comfortable lead in the AL Central.

"It was a big win. You can't lose six out of seven like we had," Yost said. "The good thing about it is their disposition, their focus, their intensity hasn't changed through this."

Adam Jones and Nolan Reimold homered for the Orioles (68-73), whose modest three-game winning streak ended. Baltimore has lost 10 of 12 to Kansas City, including four straight in last season's ALCS.

Wei-Yin Chen (8-7, 3.48) will try to beat Cueto and the Royals again after yielding three runs and 10 hits over 6 2-3 innings in last month's victory. That was the fourth straight win for Chen, but he's gone 0-1 with an 8.38 ERA in his two most recent starts.

The left-hander surrendered five runs over five innings before leaving without a decision in an 8-6 loss at Yankee Stadium on Monday.

Chen has held the Royals to three runs or less in six straight starts, including one in the ALCS.

Ben Zobrist, though, is 14 for 37 in their matchups, Eric Hosmer is 7 for 20 with a pair of homers and Lorenzo Cain is 6 for 15.

Cain is 10 for 22 with two home runs this season against the Orioles and Alex Rios is 10 for 18 with a homer, three doubles and a triple.

MLB notebook: Blue Jays SS Tulowitzk hurt in collision
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki exited Game One of Saturday's doubleheader with the New York Yankees with an injury after colliding with center fielder Kevin Pillar.

Tulowitzki's was injured while catching a pop-up by New York's Didi Gregorius for the final out of the second inning.

The Blue Jays said Tulowitzki underwent X-rays on his ribs and chest and those were negative. They also said he was undergoing an MRI but the results would not be available until Sunday.

Gregorius hit a high pop-up to shallow center field. Tulowitzki ran back to make the catch and collided with Pillar, who was charging in.

Tulowitzki made the catch but his left shoulder collided with Pillar's glove. As he made the catch, Tulowitzki dropped to the ground and, although he walked off on his own, he was replaced by Cliff Pennington, who was inserted at second place while Ryan Goins moved to shortstop.

Tulowitzki struck out in his only at-bat against Michael Pineda. He is batting .232 with five home runs and 17 RBI in 39 games since being obtained from the Colorado Rockies shortly before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

---St. Louis Cardinals catcher Cody Stanley was suspended 80 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, Major League Baseball announced.

Stanley was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sept. 1 and is batting .400 (4-for-10) with a double and three RBIs in nine games.

Stanley was not in the Cardinals clubhouse prior to Saturday afternoon's game against the Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park.

This is the Stanley's second suspension. In March 2012, he was suspended 50 games for testing positive.

---Cardinals right-hander Matt Belisle was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list.

Belisle last pitched on June 25 before being placed on the DL with elbow soreness which wasn't deemed serious at the time.

Second baseman Kolten Wong returned to the Cardinals' lineup after missing four games with a strained left calf.

---Since Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre's season ended Friday in the playoffs, the Yankees added two players from there, calling up outfielder Slade Heathcott and catcher Gary Sanchez.

Those moves put the Yankees' roster at 39 players and when Sanchez appears he will become the 55th player used by New York this year.

Nationals RHP Storen breaks thumb during tantrum
The Sports Xchange

Washington Nationals right-hander Drew Storen is expected to miss the rest of the season after breaking his right thumb during a fit of frustration, manager Matt Williams said Saturday.

The injury happened Wednesday, when an upset Storen slammed his locker after giving up a go-ahead home run to the New York Mets' Yoenis Cespedes in the eighth inning.

The injury was diagnosed after Storen was unable to throw Friday and told the team what had happened, Williams said.

Storen has 29 saves and a 3.44 ERA, but he has surrendered three runs in his past three innings over four games.

The day before he gave up the late homer to Cespedes, Storen walked three to blow a save in what turned into an 8-7 loss to the Mets.

MLB roundup: Bumgarner toys with perfection
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

SAN FRANCISCO -- Madison Bumgarner retired the first 23 San Diego Padres he faced Saturday night before settling for a one-hit shutout, delivering the San Francisco Giants an 8-0 victory.

Angel Pagan and first baseman Brandon Belt smacked solo home runs and right fielder Marlon Byrd drove in three runs with three hits, helping the Giants (74-68) keep pace with the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers (81-60) atop the National League West.

The Dodgers lead the Giants by 7 1/2 games with 20 games remaining.

The home run for Belt, which capped the scoring in the seventh inning, was his 18th of the season, a career high.

Bumgarner took a perfect game two outs into the eighth before Padres pinch-hitter Melvin Upton Jr. lined a single to center field on a 2-1 pitch.

Athletics 5, Rangers 3

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Oakland rookie Sean Nolin notched his first career win by holding Texas to one run in 5 2/3 innings.

Nolin, who was acquired from Toronto on the offseason as part of the Josh Donaldson trade, struck out five and gave up just five hits in his fourth career outing.

The Rangers dropped to 5-9 on the season against the last-place Athletics.

White Sox 8, Twins 2

CHICAGO -- Adam Eaton went 3-for-5 with an RBI and the Chicago cruised to the win.

Trayce Thompson, Carlos Sanchez and Melky Cabrera were among five other players who contributed two hits apiece for the White Sox.

revor Plouffe went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Minnesota.

Mariners 7, Rockies 2

SEATTLE -- Seattle used four home runs, including the career-high 41st of the season from Nelson Cruz to beat Colorado.

Cruz's home run matched the season total of Baltimore's Chris Davis for the most in baseball.

Robinson Cano, Jesus Montero and Franklin Gutierrez added solo shots as the Mariners won for the eighth time in 12 games.

Dodgers 9, Diamondbacks 5

PHOENIX -- Rookie Corey Seager had four hits including his first major league home run and drove in three runs Los Angeles' win.

Carl Crawford homered to open the game and Adrian Gonzalez and Joc Pederson homered in the third inning as the Dodgers built a 7-0 lead.

Seager's homer in the fifth inning made it 8-4 after Arizona scored three runs in the fourth.

Angels 3, Astros 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- C.J. Cron hit a home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Los Angeles the victory.

The Angels used their third successive win and their seventh in 10 games to move within 3 1/2 games of the first-place Astros in the American League West and within two games of the Texas Rangers, who hold the second wild-card spot.

Houston has lost four of its last five and has compiled a 7-10 record since Aug. 24.

Phillies 7, Cubs 5

PHILADELPHIA -- Pinch-hitter Cody Asche drilled a two-run, walk-off homer in the ninth inning to give Philadelphia the win.

On the first pitch Asche saw from Cubs reliever Hector Rondon, he hit his second career walk-off homer and his eighth home run of the season.

Red Sox 10, Rays 4

ST. PETERSBURG -- Rick Porcello continued his string of quality starts and was backed by five home runs, including a pair of history making shots from David Ortiz as Boston beat Tampa.

Ortiz hit a three-run shot in the first inning, and a solo shot in the fifth, to become the 27th player in major league history to reach 500.

Among active players, only Alex Rodriguez (684) and Albert Pujols (555) have more than the soon-to-be 40-year-old Ortiz.

Marlins 2, Nationals 0

MIAMI -- Jose Fernandez improved to a record-tying 16-0 at home and lowered his career ERA at Miami to 1.11.

The only other pitchers in history to start their careers 16-0 at home were Johnny Allen (1932-33) and LaMarr Hoyt (1980-82). But of the three, only Fernandez earned his 16 wins exclusively as a starter.

Fernandez, in his first start since he was sidelined on Aug. 7 with a biceps injury, pitched five scoreless innings, holding the Nationals to two singles and one walk. He struck out seven batters and could have gone deeper in the game if not a pitch limit. (He threw 69 pitches.)

Mets 6, Braves 4

ATLANTA -- New York padded its National League East lead while adding to Atlanta's woes.

Yoenis Cespedes hit his seventh homer in the past 10 games and added an RBI fielder's choice in a tie-breaking ninth inning as the Mets handed the Braves their 11th straight home loss.

Atlanta gained momentum when Adonis Garcia hit a tying three-run homer off Tyler Clippard in eighth inning to cost Noah Syndergaard a victory, but the Mets came back in the ninth for their sixth straight victory.

Pirates 10, Brewers 2

PITTSBURGH -- Jeff Locke pitched into the seventh inning for just the second time in 10 starts, Josh Harrison had four hits and Michael Morse hit a pinch-hit grand slam as Pittsburgh rolled to the victory.

Locke worked 6 1/3 innings and allowed only one run and three hits as the Pirates won for the sixth time in nine games and drew within two games of the first-place St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central.

It is the closest the Pirates have been to St. Louis since they were also two back at the All-Star break after winning three games in a row from the Cardinals at Pittsburgh.

Blue Jays 9, Yankees 5, 11 innings, Game 1

Blue Jays 10, Yankees 7, Game 2

NEW YORK -- Toronto moved 3 1/2 games ahead of the New York in the AL East by completing a doubleheader sweep with a 10-7 victory in the nightcap.

In the first game, Toronto scored four times in the top of the 11th inning to earn the win.

Pinch hitter Russell Martin drew one of three bases-loaded walks in the top of the 11th inning as Toronto outlasted New York in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Royals 14, Orioles 6

BALTIMORE -- Mike Moustakas hammered his way into the Kansas City Royals' record books by driving in nine runs with a pair of homers, including a grand slam.

Kansas City won for just the second time in eight games, but evened the three-game series with the rubber match Sunday night. Baltimore fell to five games under .500.

Royals right-hander Yordano Ventura overcame a shaky start to pick up the win. He allowed four runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and three walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Reds 5, Cardinals 1

Reds 4, Cardinals 2 (Suspended game)

CINCINNATI -- Skip Schumaker hit a three-run homer and Anthony DeSclafani had a career-high 10 strikeouts in six innings, lifting Cincinnati over struggling St. Louis.

The Cardinals committed five errors in the first three games of the series and have been outscored 47-13 in the past seven contests.

Adam Duvall's two-run homer in the eighth inning lifted the Reds past the Cardinals in the resumption of Friday night's suspended game.

Duvall's homer, his third, came on a 1-0 pitch from right-hander Jonathan Broxton and just barely cleared the right field wall with a runner aboard.

Tigers-Indians, postponed

CLEVELAND _ Saturday's game between Detroit and Cleveland was postponed by rain had started Friday and continued through most of the day Saturday.

Friday's game also was rained out.

The two teams will attempt to play two games on Sunday.

Jim Feist's Bonus Play for Sunday, Sept. 13 4:05 PM ET

(477) NEW ORLEANS SAINTS VS (478) ARIZONA CARDINALS

Take: UNDER

Reason: Your Bonus Play for Sunday, September 13, 2015 is in the NFL contest between the New Orleans Saints and Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals will be a team to contend with this season. Their OTA's and mini camps have been excellent and everyone is bragging about how good Carson Palmer is looking. Head coach Bruce Arians is an excellent coach and has won everywhere he's gone. Arians won with this team last year, despite having to go to a third string QB and shuffling the position all season. It's early in the season to do any too crazy, bu I do like the UNDER here between these clubs. The Saints are on the grass, outdoors, where they are 9-2 UNDER in their last 11 games. The Cardinals will have an excellent defense and they are a very good UNDER team in September, going 6-0 UNDER in this opening month. The Saints will also be without one of their big offensive weapons from last year in tight end Jimmy Graham. I'm going to play this one to go UNDER here on opening day.

Tennessee Titans vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Bonus Play Tennessee Titans

Thanks to the pro debuts of Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, the Titans-Buccaneers Sunday matchup is semi-watchable. It's also worth betting - if you're backing the Titans.
Tennessee has opened the past two seasons with straight-up underdog road victories beating Pittsburgh, 16-9, in 2013 as 6-point 'dogs and defeating Kansas City, 26-10, as 3-point 'dogs last year.
Now the Titans draw a much easier opponent in the Buccaneers. Tampa Bay has lost 17 of its past 19 games. The Buccaneers were 0-8 at Raymond James Stadium last year, going 2-6 against the spread (ATS). They lost straight-up all three times they were favored last season.
So how can the Buccaneers be favored against any NFL team? Because the oddsmaker views the Titans' 2-14 record of a year ago and the Buccaneers being home so he goes on near auto-pilot to install Tampa Bay as a field goal favorite.
It's wrong. The Buccaneers have one of the weakest home fields in the NFL failing to cover in 13 of their last 19 matchups at Raymond James Stadium. Tennessee is much better than its record of a year ago. That was an aberration. The Titans averaged 7.3 wins per year during the previous three seasons before 2014.
The Titans' 2014 season really ended in Game 5 when they blew a 25-point home lead to the Browns. The Titans had that game safely won until starting quarterback Jake Locker got hurt. From then on the Titans were forced to go the rest of the season with Charlie Whitehurst, one of the worst backup quarterbacks in the league, and sixth-round rookie Zach Mettenberger.
Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt is a quarterback guru, but he realized the Titans' best course was to semi-tank,which they did landing Heisman Trophy winner Mariota.
The Buccaneers, being equally bad as the Titans last year, landed their potential franchise quarterback in Winston. Mariota's Oregon Ducks destroyed Winston and Florida State in the Rose Bow, 59-20.
OK, that was college. What about now? Mariota still holds a strong edge. He looked much better and ahead of the learning curve than Winston during preseason completing 70 percent of his throws. Winston hit on less than 50 percent of his passes and was sacked seven times.
From Jeff Fisher to Mike Munchak to Whisenhunt the Titans always have taken a lot of pride in their offensive line. Tampa Bay has a very bad offensive line. The Buccaneers will be starting a record five players on offense who are 22 years old or younger, including two rookie linemen.
The Titans have the defensive brain power to capitalize on this stunning youth with Dick LeBeau, the long-time legendary Steelers' defensive coordinator. Part of LeBeau's lore comes from this: Defenses under LeBeau are 26-3 against rookie quarterbacks with a 37-to-24 interception-to touchdown pass ratio since 1995.
The Titans upgraded their pass rush signing three-time Pro Bowl selection Brian Orakpo. Winston doesn't have a lot of experience going against 3-4 defenses and his offensive line is likely to have problems dealing with LeBeau's assorted blitz packages.
Winston may not have his best receiver either as Mike Evans is a game-time decision due to a hamstring injury.
I don't like the Titans' ground attack. But Mariota is highly mobile and has a number of underrated wide receivers in steady Kendall Wright, tight end Delanie Walker and intriguing rookie 6-foot-5, 237-pound Dorial Green-Beckham, who reminds me of Randy Moss.
Field goals could come into play here and the Titans hold an edge there with veteran Ryan Succop. The Titans did not miss a field goal during preseason while Tampa Bay went 4-for-9 in field goals in preseason. The Bucs are going with an untested kicker in undrafted rookie, Kyle Brindza.
