If he told Jopa that he saw anything remotely sexual then Jopa did not do enough

I agree with you but he didn't cover anything up.

He knowingly let a child rapist roam free...he never reported a thing to cops...and he knew what sandusky was. He should have been fired, and the statue should be blown to pieces. His inactions caused many more children to be raped

My thoughts as well. As for the players today, it sucks they had nothing to do with it and caught all the punishment

You guys are sensationalizing Joepa. He had absolutely nothing to do with handling crime or accusations of criminal behavior on the campus of Penn St. And there is literally no evidence that he kept quiet about anything.

I don't think you're grasping who joepa was at psu. Anything that happened on that campus...he got the 1st phone call. He ran that place like his own kingdom and those who knew him, say he would brag about his power. He was not a good man in many ways. Bigtime bully to faculty up there.

There is evidence he did keep quiet. Emails and his own statements about wanting to do more. He could have stopped a rapist with one phone call but he didn't do it. He held his players to a much higher standard than he did himself.

Reposting this just so we are all clear on the facts ( even they miss the age by 4 years! )

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/06/22/breakdown-sandusky-verdicts-by-victim/

— Victim 2: A boy of about 10 that a graduate assistant, Mike McQueary, has said he saw being attacked by Sandusky in the team showers in February 2001. Investigators have not been able to determine the boy's identity. McQueary reported what he saw to head coach Joe Paterno, and Paterno's handling of it contributed to the university's decision to fire him shortly after Sandusky was arrested in November. Sandusky was found guilty of indecent assault, unlawful contact with minor, corruption of minors, endangering a child's welfare. He was acquitted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse.

Why does his age matter as long as he was underage? PSU sympathizers grasping at anything makes no sense. Let's go over the facts again.

Fact: McQueary saw Sandusky in the PSU football locker room naked in the shower fondling an underage boy after hours.

Fact: McQueary told Paterno he saw Sandusky fondling an underage boy in the PSU football locker room after hours.

Fact: McQueary testified he told Paterno ""I went to his house and sat at his kitchen table and told him I saw Jerry with a young boy in the shower. That it was way over the lines and extremely sexual in nature," McQueary testified. "The rough positioning I described but not in much detail."

Fact: We know this because Paterno testified to the Grand Jury "Obviously, he(Sandusky) was doing something of a sexual nature. I’m not sure exactly what it was. I didn’t push Mike to describe exactly what it was because he was very upset."

Fact: Paterno never banned Sandusky from the PSU football facilities after the incident and Sandusky had free roam of the football facilities up until 2011, right before Sandusky was charged.

Fact: McQueary was later promoted and given a lucrative contract to become a coach and head of recruiting for Paterno.

Now at a bare minimum, Paterno should have banned Sandusky from the PSU football facilities and all PSU related football activities. But it does not take a genius to figure out some reporter would start asking questions like why is your former d-coordinator and head of the second mile charity no longer around the football team? Why has the PSU football team cut itself off from such a great charity such as the second mile charity? A decent investigative reporter would have figured this story out within days back in 2001 if Sandusky was permanently banned from PSU football facilities and activities. That is most likely why they had to keep him around, to make it look like everything was fine.

Banning Sandusky would have hurt PSU and damaged their reputation but it would have made Paterno look like a strong person with a strong character. Yes, it would be damaging in the short term but people would have respected Paterno because it would have sent a message "not on my watch". Instead he weasels his way out and passed the buck on to this "superiors" even though he was the state of Pennsylvania's highest paid civil servant. And spare me it was in Sandusky's retirement package nonsense. It shows JoePa is human, looking out for himself and his legacy. I do not care about the wins but there should be no statue glorifying his accomplishments.

Good post....

However all of this behavior by Sandusky was well known throughout the campus well before the 2002 incident. He was investigated in 98' and admitted to showering with boys then, but Campus police had the investigation squashed without charges. All a big cover up. If you don't believe that just read the grand jury....its all there. Time after time this guy got a stern warning NOT to shower with boys or even bring them on campus which come to find out was nearly impossible to police. He had access to everything, there was nothing they could do but take the key and throw him out which never happened.

JoePa buried his head in the sand about Sandusky. Shultz and Curley should be in jail. Crazy how much power that school had at the time.

So now its showering with 14 year old boys , or rape? Very confusing

Also shocking in this case is there is ZERO scrutiny of the second mile? No one knew a thing? How do they get a pass ? Yet, Joe is the villain, and part of a cover up. So laughable ..

Months after former Penn State football assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested for molesting boys, a statue of his ex-boss Joe Paterno was removed from Beaver Stadium in State College, Pa.
Replacement Joe Paterno statues are being created in Lancaster County, according to the artists who made the original. February 2016.Submitted photo
While the location of the statue isn't publicly known, a pair of new versions reportedly are in the works.
Sandusky, arrested in November 2011, was convicted of more than 40 counts of child sex abuse and remains in jail. Paterno was fired after Sandusky's arrested and died in January 2012. For a time, the NCAA discounted many of Paterno's football wins as part of the school's punishment for the Sandusky scandal. Paterno's wins were restored last year.
WGAL reports:
Since the artists have not been able to locate the original Joe Paterno statue, (artists Yesid) Gomez and Wilfer Buitrago are already in the process of creating a new statue. The project is already underway at a secret location in Ephrata, the same town the original statue was created.
Two copies of the Paterno statue will be made. One will be donated to the Paterno family, the second will go to the Beaver Stadium. That replica will travel from different locations and museums to pay homage to the late coach.

When the statue came down in July 2012, then-Penn State President Rodney Erickson said it was an "obstacle to healing in our university and beyond."
Update: A representative of the artists, Candy Chacon writes in a news release that the new statues won't have Paterno with a finger pointing up, but instead will have a clenched fist, "insinuated a symbol of unity and peace, We will not fall, we will not be diminished." Chacon says a statue will visit Beaver Stadium and travel to other locations and museums.

Billboard demands Joe Paterno statue be restored
The latest PS4Truth Billboard is calling for Penn State to return Paterno's statue to its former home outside of Beaver Stadium in State College.

The original statue, nearly 7 feet tall and weighing more than 900 pounds, was built in 2001 in honor of Paterno's record-setting 324th Division 1 coaching victory and his "contributions to the university."

Sandusky case was the beginning of this 49 yr olds end.

"Boys Club"

Kane's 2012 election victory made her the first woman and the first Democrat to be elected Pennsylvania state attorney general.

Relying heavily on her trucking magnate husband's wealth, the Scranton native campaigned as a disrupter of the status quo and pledged to investigate whether politics played a role in the three years it took to investigate and charge former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky with child sex abuse crimes.

Kane, a Democrat, was charged by prosecutors in Montgomery County in August with leaking secret grand jury material to a reporter and lying about it — allegations she hotly denies and is fighting. Her trial is scheduled to start Aug. 8.

"The attorney general is being railroaded by the Senate," said Sen. Art Haywood, D-Montgomery. "[On Wednesday], 50 senators will make a decision on the attorney general's removal, while 43 were not present in any hearings on this matter and have not heard from any witnesses. That's worse than a kangaroo court. Even in a kangaroo court, you hear from witnesses."

Attorney General Kathleen Kane will take the stage at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center Tuesday to announce a team of special prosecutors to lead the 'Porngate' investigation.....

The exchange of misogynistic, pornographic and racist material has involved federal and state officials across a variety agencies. Beyond the content of the emails, their release led to questions of possible bias and ex parte communication in the criminal justice system.

Kane framed the issue through that lens, saying last week that a "chorus" of supporters have condemned "the network of judges and lawyers circulating these emails on public computers across state-owned servers......

Where is Batman.......

Batwoman is a superheroine appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. In all incarnations, the character is a wealthy heiress who becomes inspired by the superhero Batman and chooses, like him, to put her wealth and resources towards a war on crime as a masked vigilante in her home of Gotham City. The identity of Batwoman is shared by two heroines in mainstream DC publications; both women are named Katherine Kane, with the original Batwoman commonly referred to by her nickname Kathy and the modern incarnation going by the name Kate.

Maybe Batwoman paid for the Billboard... popcorn-eatinggif

If this new information is correct Chop, I take back everything I ever said about Joe Pa and condemn that guy with everything I got. If it's proven he actually knew something happened in 1976 and didn't do anything, fuck him.

http://www.pennlive.com/news/2016/05/court_filing_says_joe_paterno.html

Joe Pa knew.....he knew all along.....maybe at first he believed his friend over some kids....but when shit kept happening Joe knew what he was dealing with....hence they forced Sandusky into retirement....but clearly that wasn't enough.

Letting him keep an office at the Penn State campus under the guise of the Second Mile program was a huge injustice to those kids.

Penn State already executed Paterno. What else they want from the guy.

Penn State is now just another average football school like Nebraska after Osborne.
