Chop, you know better than this. You put this line in quotes "but he still did not cover it up so he is ok" like I really said that? Really Chop? I never said that.

That is incorrect. He reported it which shows he was not attempting to cover it up. It was not the correct course of action to take but that is not a cover up. If it were me, I would've called my boss and reported it and told him to either call the police or I would call the police. One or the other.

He never called the cops.
Show me proof he called the cops.
I know he called his boss.
But that call was probably nothing more then a strategy meeting between him and his bosses to figure out the best way to cover it up which is exactly what they did.

Come on man.

I honestly have no clue what we are talking about man.

So you just admitted that Joe fucked up bad. Thats the whole point of this thread.

So what are we talking about then?

So now that we have that out of the way I ask the question.

Should Joe Pa have his statue removed from campus?

Chop, this is just dumb and we'll never agree. I don't think it should be removed. I say he didn't cover it up you say he did. Conversation over I guess.

Not calling the cops was stupid but he did report it. He'd have been charged with a crime if the D.A. thought he covered it up. They were not charging Joe Paterno. I guess your definition of a cover up and mine are different.

No big deal and enjoy your Saturday!

This post is full of fail.

#1 once again is I dont know why you are so hung up on this not covering up thing.
Lets pretend one more time that he did not cover it up. And I do mean pretend.

So he did not cover it up.

Ok then.
So that means he did one thing right and 99 other things wrong. So since he did one thing right by not covering it up(remember we are pretending) that makes the other 99 things he did wrong ok.
Thats like saying it was ok that the taliban bombed the world trade center because because they did not try to cover up that they bombed the WTC. Bin Laden made a video saying he did it so that makes it ok because he/they did not cover up the fact that they did it.

#2) Only reason he is not going to be charged with a crime is because he is dead.
I absolutely promise you that is the only reason he is not going to be charged.
All of his bosses that he called are going to be charged. If JP would not have been charged he would end up being the only person in the room to avoid getting charged.
So what makes you think he would have avoided something that everyone else who was/is as close to the situation as he was is getting charged?

I dont hold grudges against people when I disagree.
Your probably a good dude, and your certainly a good poster.
We just disagree.

I agree with you most of the time, but this time we are far far off.

Well, certainly you can't defend the four guy's actions during the case but what did the university have to do with it?

Certainly, more than 95% of university employees would have handled it differently I'd have to guess.

I guess the wrong 5% was in charge then.

You keep saying this like I've said anything he did is ok. You even added a quote from me that wasn't actually my quote.

Why do you keep saying that because I say he didn't cover it up that makes it ok? I've never said that.

Well if you think the statue should stay up you must think its ok.
I have no idea what you are saying I quoted that you did not say.
You have to let me know what it was you said I quoted that you did not say.

Anyway the only way someone can say they think the statue should stay around is if that person thinks that what he did was ok.

In post #186 I did not say what you put in quotes.

Again, it's my opinion that the statue should stay. Doesn't mean his ignorance to the situation wasn't wrong in any way.

Quotation marks indicate exactly what someone says.

My sentence in post 184:

“That still doesn't mean he covered it up. An idiot yes but a criminal? No.”

Your sentence that you claim I said with quotes in post 186:

but he still did not cover it up so he is ok

Those sentences don't seem to be the same Chop.

ENFUEGO
You should read this post about 5 times.

Scully does a good job here saying what I have been saying.

Chop, do you realize the words you put in quotes and attributed to me are in fact not my words? Can you at least admit that?

No I dont know that.
If you read post 184 and 186 I have no idea what you are talking about.
Maybe someone else can explain it to me.
But in post 186 all I did is quote what you said in post 184.

If anyone disagrees with that I hope someone will speak up and tell me im wrong.

I broke it down clearly for you in post #234. What you put in quotes was never said by me. If you can't understand that, then it's not worth discussing any longer.

My quote - “Agree with you 100% Chop. That still doesn't mean he covered it up. An idiot yes but a criminal? No.”

Your quote - "but he still did not cover it up so he is ok"

What is hard about this?

My computer does not say that on post 186
sorry

Really? This is strange.

But the HTML quote is the same.
I guess you are talking about my actual statement in post 186.
Ok I guess.
Context seems to be very important to ENFUEGO.
Even though I was saying the same exact thing he said in a different way.
Although my exact quote from him in 184 was exactly the same in the HTML.

What I'm talking about is if you're going to quote me then quote exactly what I say instead of interpreting what you think I mean. I think you'd agree that's only fair to do.

Blind people cant see scully

You know its sad what im about to say. And ENFUEGO is going to get real pissed when he reads this, but this would be the one time he would have a leg to stand on because what im about to say is just a theory with no basis in provable truth.
What im about to say requires believing some things that I cant prove for 100%.

But if you read everything closely and read between the lines you can make the case that the other 3 guys were 100% fully prepared to turn Sandusky in but for some reason or another after JoePa joined the conversation somehow they all of a sudden changed there mind.
The only thing that changed between the time that they said they are going to report him and them not reporting was later talking to Joe Pa.

Again, none of that is provable, but you can certainly conjure up that though by reading the latest news.

But even if my theory is, that still does not remove blame from those 3 even if they had intentions of telling before talking to JoePa

I bet im not the only person who thought this.

Chop, why would I get pissed? It's your opinion and that is not for me to question at all. I think your case is totally believable for sure. Can it be proven? Only time will tell I guess.

I dont agree with DP
But PSU has not cleaned out house enough considering what has happened.
That says a lot about them.

I think some of the trustees should go and maybe some members of Second Mile. I'm sure there's more to come though.

I left out a lot . thats enough for now

So JoePa statue shouldn't comedown because he reported it to his boss but since his boss sat on it and didn't do shit he wasn't required to do anymore? I guess it would require a lot of gumption and courage so to speak to drop a bomb like that on all of PSU which was your life but I don't know, its kids getting smashed in the ass gotta put the greater good ahead of your lifestyle and prestige.

Kids got raped though.

I dunno, I didn't swallow up this story like y'all but seems kinda cut and dry.

I was firm throughout the entire thread. He should've done way more. I never wavered on that.

But at the same time he did not do nothing wrong and the statue should stay up.

Considered how delicate the issue is and what was at stake (something more important than college football) and how long he kept things quiet, you don't think they should've axed the statue?

Obviously it was moot whether it should comedown or not since it was coming down by public force either way but wouldn't it be good to take it down for PSU so they can start over?

I personally don't think so but I understand why they did.

How the hell did you and Chop get 20 pages out of this?

A lot of guys posting thought it was cut and dry and Paterno was almost as guilty as Sandusky. Not saying that was Chop at all.

I thought and still think this case was anything but cut and dry. There were a ton of variables.
