Missouri Dismisses Starting DE

http://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/mizzou-football/mizzou-dismisses-marcus-loud/

An otherwise-quiet Wednesday afternoon in May got interrupted when Missouri announced it has dismissed redshirt sophomore Marcus Loud from the football team.

Loud played in all 14 games in a limited role last season. His dismissal is surprising news for Mizzou’s defensive line, and details of the decision have yet to emerge.

Loud, at 6-foot-4 and 260 pounds, had been groomed alongside Charles Harris to replace standouts Shane Ray and Marcus Golden at defensive end.

Walter Brady and Rocel McWilliams, projected as backups after spring practice, now could compete for a starting spot at the position, with either Spencer Brady or Marcell Frazier moving into the rotation. Another option is to move Rickey Hatley, who exited spring practice ahead of Josh Augusta at defensive tackle, back to defensive end.

Alabama/Wisconsin Kickoff in Primetime:

In a scheduling announcement that should have been expected from the start, Alabama and Wisconsin’s season-opening clash in AT&T Stadium in Arlington on September 3 will be played in primetime. ABC will televise the game starting at 8:00 p.m. eastern.

The Alabama vs. Wisconsin game was long expected to be placed in primetime, with ABC the likely network to get the game through ESPN’s coverage plan. Other games appearing in the same time slot, or closely overlapping with it, include Notre Dame vs. Texas on NBC (7:30 p.m. eastern), Texas A&M vs. Arizona State in Houston on an ESPN network to be determined (8:00 p.m.). Florida State will be playing on ESPN against Texas State (8:00 p.m.).

Wisconsin’s appearance on the first Saturday night game on ABC of the new season will be the first of three primetime games on the ESPN family featuring a Big Ten team in the first two weeks of the season. Michigan State’s home game against Oregon in week two will also air on ABC. Ohio State’s season-opener on Labor Day on the road at Virginia Tech will be televised by ESPN at 8:00 p.m.

The Big Ten, thanks to Ohio St and a decent bowl showing saved face after everybody mocked them all last year. I think its going to start much the same way. Ohio St, imo, is the only winner of these 3. Then you got BYU-Neb and TCU-Min. There's a real chance for the Big Ten to lose a lot of the momentum its picked up.

Florida had ONE early enrollee this year due mostly to the coaching change. A lowly 3-star TE from the state of Georgia. He has decided he wants to transfer.... WTF? He has a 4-star brother who is a HS senior next year that just committed to USC, word is he wants to go there and play w/ him.

http://www.inallkindsofweather.com/blog/gators-te-daniel-imatorbhebhe-to-transfer.html

Jim McElwain’s first recruiting class at Florida was knocked by many for being too small, and now it just got even smaller.

Early enrollee Daniel Imatorbhebhe will transfer out of the program, per a source. Different sources have said the same thing to Scout.

Imatorbhebhe’s younger brother, Josh, recently committed to Southern Cal. Daniel’s desire to join him, plus his lack of desire to compete with Jake McGee, DeAndre Goolsby and C’yontai Lewis for reps may have played a role in his decision. Either way, McElwain’s down a player, and a good one at that: he held offers from Nebraska, Missouri and Tennessee along with Florida coming out of high school.

But despite his talent and infectious personality in the locker room, he’s replaceable, as he left a tight end corps that conceivably had three guys ahead of him, and so losing him is not the end of the world. I wish him the best moving on, but Florida will be fine in the long haul.

UGA Lands 5-Star DT (recruiting):

http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2015/05/auburn_misses_on_5-star_dt_jul.html#incart_river

Five-star defensive tackle Julian Rochester committed to Georgia during a visit to Athens Thursday. He announced the news on his Twitter account.

Auburn was once considered the front-runner for the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder from Powder Springs, Ga. He named the Tigers his leader multiple times during the early stages of his recruitment, but has not been to the Plains since last October.

He began gravitating toward Georgia this spring. He tweeted a top 10 earlier this month and listed Georgia at No. 1 and Auburn at No. 2.

Rochester is ranked as the nation's 10th overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He had 88 tackles (55 solo) and 11 sacks in 11 games last fall.

Matty Miles, the sone of LSU HC Les Miles (yes, they really named their kid "Matty") has decided to try playing as a "Walk on" QB at North Carolina. The kid is allegedly a 3 Star player, but no one, including Papa, wanted him. So much for the "Family that plays together..."

Yeah, I saw that story. He's doing what a lot of coaches son's do; going somewhere to learn and later become a coach. Brian Schottenheimer (UF), Skyler Mornhinweg (UF, just transferred to Columbia), Luke Del Rio (Bama, Oregon State), Steve Spurrier Jr. (Duke), Scotty Spurrier (USC), The Bowden Boys (WVU), and several others.

Auburn wins recruiting battle w/ Alabama for dual-threat QB:

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...cruiting-battle-with-tide-for-dual-threat-qb/

Auburn’s offense scored a nice recruiting victory against in-state Iron Bowl rival Alabama on Wednesday. Woody Barrett of Winter Garden, Florida, has verbally committed to Auburn, which gives Gus Malzahn a four-star dual-threat quarterback to look forward to in 2016. Auburn and Alabama were the finalists in the recruiting process.

Barrett announced his decision Wednesday during a ceremony at his high school, West Orange High School. Barrett is currently rated three stars by Rivals.com, although he receives a four-star ranking from other recruiting services. Barrett missed out on a big recruiting weekend at Auburn due to playing in his school’s spring game (high school spring games are apparently a thing that happens). But Auburn quarterback coach and offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee was on hand to see how he performed. The relationship established with Lashlee through the recruiting process proved to be a deciding factor for Barrett.

“I got a real good vibe,” Barrett said after the visit to Auburn, per Rivals. “The team bond, I saw how the team connected with each other and how the coaches got along. Everybody had one team goal and it was to win another national championship.”

As a junior, Barrett passed for 1,558 yards and 24 touchdowns and rushed for 813 yards and nine touchdowns.

UVA QB to Transfer to UGA:

A day after Georgia head coach Mark Richt confirmed his program’s interest in Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert, the graduate transfer took things one giant step further. Lambert is apparently heading to Georgia this fall.

Lambert told Joe Schad of ESPN he will be transferring to Georgia, where he will be eligible to compete for the starting job under center immediately. Lambert does not have to sit out a season due to being a graduate transfer. Richt had confirmed Georgia was actively recruiting Lambert’s services yesterday at an event in Macon, Georgia. This was all he could say without committing any NCAA violations. Once Lambert’s transfer is made official, Richt will be free to comment freely about the new addition to the Georgia offense.

Georgia is looking for a replacement to Hutson Mason this fall. Out of the spring it looked like a three-horse race between Brice Ramsey, Falton Bauta and Jacob Park. Despite transfer rumors after the spring practices concluded, Richt says he expects all three of those options to be a part of the program in the fall. Throw Lambert into the mix and the quarterback depth is padded. Lambert brings starting experience to the position and that likely bodes well for his chances of starting for the Bulldogs, but it is far from a given.
