GS, tell us more about that blog (not saturdayedge, but the other one).

I think UF's D will be top 5. There's too much talent...especially along the DL. Florida's DL will be outstanding. With Randy Shannon and Collins leading the way, I think it's a wash w/ Durkin & Muschamp.
Coach, Pezgordo recruited him for our site. I don't really know anything about his blog outside of TSE. But he has done some nice articles. I agree about UF's defense. I would have probably replaced Arky or Auburn with UF. I don't trust Arkansas at all this year. They are one of my overrated teams.

GS, it was a decent write up. It's hard for generic writers (writers who cover the entire country vs. one region/conference or even one team) to have all the in's and out's. Keep posting his (and TSE) stuff though. It's good for handicapping. I reposted the link on a Gator website and the thread has a long list of posts. Of course, all the homer's can't believe UF didn't make the top 5.

I've never been much of a Dan Mullen fan , but i'm coming around , i really enjoyed his interview on the Paul Finebaum show yesterday.

Lol , he was talking about the problems coaches face during the recruiting season , the biggest being that they have to watch their weight. He said every home you go into has a mama or grandmother who prepared a big spread of food and you can't be rude and say no thank you. One day he ate 5 meals in between lunch and supper.

I've always thought he was kinda "assholeish" but he was relaxed and happy , it was a fun listen.

Dan Mullen spoke to our Gator Club prior to the 2005 season (Urban's first season in Gainesville). He was very cordial, but a bit cocky - which I think he got from Meyer. He had a meteoric rise through the coaching ranks (he played TE at a very small college, Ursinis College)....he went from WR coach at Wagner College to GA at ND in 2 years....where he met Urban. Then he rode Urban's coattails to Bowling Green, Utah and Florida. True success story.

I'm just shocked he stayed in Starkville. That place is a dump and he's had several opportunities to move on. I don't think he can win there consistantly and will have a losing record sooner than he will go 11-1 again. All it takes is 1 mediocre QB and they are a 5-7, 6-6 team.

good overview of NFL drafting Saban players. funny how many times the Steelers have passed up Bama players in last 5 years that have totally bit them in the ass (Lacy, Upshaw, Hightower, etc..). what up NFC East? :)

To categorize Nick Saban's University of Alabama football program an unqualified success in how it translates to the NFL Draft might still be a bit of an understatement.
By almost any metric used, and there are several, the program's rank as the country's top talent producer is secure: A total of 41 draft picks selected since 2007, 16 first-round picks chosen, including 15 in the previous five drafts which is more than double of any other school during that time and a combined 17 underclassmen sent to the NFL.

A total of 21 of 32 NFL teams have drafted Alabama players since 2009.
Two more first-rounders might be added to that list come Thursday night, as record-breaking wide receiver Amari Cooper and safety Landon Collins await their fates. Cooper is slotted as a top five selection, who could go as early as the third pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Several NFL Draft analysts have him being selected with the fourth overall pick to the Oakland Raiders.Collins isn't as secure to go in the first round. Recent reports have the 6-foot, 225-pounder rumored to be dropping on NFL teams' draft boards, although it's important to realize the amount of misinformation put out prior to the draft to hide teams' true intentions.
Examples of that came to light earlier this week when one unnamed NFL scout told the New York Daily News that "Collins is the best (safety), but he's not a first-round talent. Somebody might reach and take him in the first because of the lack of supply with huge demand."
Whether and how much Collins drops remains to be seen, but Alabama's draft success since Saban took over the program is proven.
The Crimson Tide had no players selected after Saban's first year in Tuscaloosa in the 2008 NFL Draft. Since then, the numbers are staggering.
An average of nearly seven players a year have been drafted from 2009-14. A total of 21 NFL teams have chosen a player from UA. The Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Raven and Kansas City Chiefs are all tied for the most Alabama players taken during that time with three each.
Not surprisingly, Saban's forte as a defensive backs coach is evident with a total of 10 defensive backs drafted in that time, the most of any position on the team. Offensive and defensive linemen are tied for second with eight draft picks each and linebackers are third with five players chosen.
Sixteen players have been drafted in the first round, five in the second, four in the third, three in the fourth, seven in the fifth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh.
Besides Cooper and Collins, others whom could be drafted include running back T.J. Yeldon, fullback Jalston Fowler, wide receiver DeAndrew White, offensive lineman Austin Shepherd, outside linebacker Xzavier Dickson and linebacker Trey DePriest and safety Nick Perry.

NY Giants break the NFC East dry spell of Bama players with Landon Collins .... Jags draft their first Bama kid in 16 years (Fernando Bryant) with TJ Yeldon.

seems like great spots for both to get early playing time

Southeastern Conference

The SEC had 54 players selected in the recent NFL Draft, giving the league the most draftees for the ninth straight year. How other conferences fared:

ACC - 47
Pac 12 - 39
Big 10 - 35
Big 12 - 25
FCS - 17
AAC - 11
MWC - 10
C-USA - 6
MAC - 4
SBC - 3
Div II - 2
Div III - 1

Florida State had the most draftees of any school with eleven. That gives the Noles 29 draftees in the past three years, which is a record during the 7 round draft. Louisville had second most with 10, followed by Florida with 8 and Alabama with 7.

**Anyone think Louisville has replacements for ten NFL type players...they play Auburn the first game.

Florida, w/ 8 players taken.....6 on Offense.!! Unreal. This is a testament of how BAD a head football coach Will Muschamp is/was. And there are people that swear up and down that he'll be a head coach again real soon. An AD would be a FOOL to hire that jackass!

Funny story about it:

http://fanbuzz.com/story/this-is-how-bad-of-a-coaching-job-will-muschamp-did/

Dante Fowler Jr. was selected with the No. 3 overall draft pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the draft. After him, seven more Gators were selected in the NFL draft. One of those guys, D.J. Humphries, was also a first round pick. The Arizona Cardinals chose Humphries with the No. 24 pick.

After those two, Chaz Green (Dallas Cowboys) and Matt Jones (Washington Redskins) were chosen in the third round. The Denver Broncos selected Max Garcia in the fourth round. Neiron Ball was selected in the sixth round by the Oakland Raiders. And to finish Florida’s selections, Andre Debose (Raiders) and Trenton Brown (San Francisco 49ers) were selected in the seventh round.

To recap, SIX Gators offensive players were chosen in the NFL draft. Will Muschamp’s awful offense produced SIX guys worthy of a NFL draft selection. One of those guys, Debose, only had NINE touches since 2012.

Muschamp had six NFL draft picks on last year’s roster and went 7-5, which led to his deserved firing. Let’s hope Jim McElwain can do better than this.

True, but it's also a testament to bad QB play...which of course falls back on the head coach. But a great QB can make all the difference.

Agree. QB play at UF has been bad (and will be for another year...or longer).

However, Muschamp stubbornly stuck w/ Jeff Driskel...and I mean STUBBORNLY! It was unbelievable! The kid just didn't have it and they kept running him out there. It was sad and embarrasing for the kid and the program.

He had 2 QBs transfer out because they were told they would not beat out Driskel. Both went on to have very good seasons/careers (Tyler Murphy, starting QB last year for Boston College & Jacoby Brisset, the current starting QB at NC State).

Muschamp handcuffed his OC's. No way Brent Pease came in here to run the offense he put out there for 2 years.....then he brings in Kurt Roper from Duke and the offense is completely different.

FOUR....count em, FOUR....Florida OL's were drafted this past weekend! FOUR!!!! And the 5th was a Junior who left school early and didn't get drafted!!! How the F does that happen?!?!

Will Muschamp is a fucking dick!

To compound how bad Muschamp is/was:

3 other players were drafted that were former UF players under Muschamp:

- DB Josh Shaw (USC)
- OL Ian Silberman (BC)
- TE Gerald Christian (Louisville)

Fucking pathetic!

Muschamp may have been a disappointment in Gainesville but he has the Auburn faithful smiling. It was obvious during spring drills this year's Tiger defense will be much better than last season. The first eleven will be really good but depth may become an issue as the season develops. Muschamp said he has around 16 players who are SEC ready players and expects help from the freshman class.

florida fans are pretty funny when it comes to muschamp. obviously 2013 and 2014 were disappointing especially at QB position but if there was a playoff in 2012 Florida would have been in it at 11-1 as they ended the reg season #3 in BCS. guessing that would have changed the tune a bit for Gators fans...

btw hate that he's at the barn. tremendous defensive coach

Sure, he's a very good DC. That's why he's the highest paid defensive assistant in the country.

Florida fans were not happy w/ him even during the 11-2 season. He was hard headed about the offense, and quite frankly, was lucky as hell. The luck ran out in 2013. Why he was kept on after losing to Georgia Southern is beyond belief.

There was a faction of Florida fans that loved the guy and wanted to keep him regardless of his ineptness. The scary/sad thing is if he had won the South Carolina game or the LSU game (which they literally gave away) he likely would have kept his job. Thank God that didn't happen!

I had lunch the other day with an ex-Tennessee player and he's impressed with third year coach Butch Jones, especially his two recruiting classes. He told me the excitement surrounding the Vols this season is probably a year to early because of depth issues. His big concern was losing QB Josh Dobbs to injury. He said Tennessee has major depth issues at QB, RB, OL and LB and doesn't think the Vols will challenge Georgia or Missouri this year. He thinks 2016 could be the year the team really breaks out.

I won't mention his name but he was a three year starter and made All-SEC a number of years ago. He talks...I listen.

Not much breaking news here. Anyone who follows college football should be able to tell UT is on the rise. I think they give UGA and Missouri all they want today....if...and only IF, the QB stays healthy. Dobbs is a potential SEC star.

SEC Network a HUGE Success:

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...rts-networks-shows-sec-network-is-a-home-run/

Clay Travis of FOX Sports crunched numbers related to sports television networks and the revenue they generate through monthly subscribers. According to the numbers shared by Travis, the SEC Network generates $547.3 million through subscriptions for the fifth highest total in the sports television industry. What about other conference networks?

The Big Ten Network pumps out a little less than $300 million ($290.2 million). The Pac-12 Network generates just $57.6 million as it continues its battles to get in more homes. ESPNU, ESPN’s college-themed network, brings in $198 million. The SEC Network alone almost beats out all three combined. Impressive.

For years Big Ten schools have been on the receiving end of some generous conference revenue splits in large part due to the Big Ten Network. Once SEC schools start getting their slices of the SEC Network pie, the balance of financial power will begin to swing in favor of the SEC.

This goes to show how powerful an ally ESPN can be when it comes to media rights and deals. ESPN got started with a more focused network approach in helping to launch The Longhorn Network. ESPN has the strongest connections in the cable game, which is why ESPN is at the top of the subscriber revenue list by a wide margin ($7.5 billion with NFL Network a distant second with $1.16 billion).

Jesus Coach, didn't know I or others had to have "breaking news" to post here.

Fine by me...I'll post my "non-breaking news" somewhere else.
