Driver, Ferguson return to Packers practice
NFL.com wire reports
GREEN BAY, Wis. (Jan. 2, 2004) -- The Green Bay Packers had all their starters back on the field Friday, when they moved practice outdoors to Lambeau Field.
Six starters returned to practice: wideouts Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson on offense and cornerbacks Mike McKenzie and Al Harris, linebacker Na'il Diggs and nose tackle Gilbert Brown on defense.
But defensive end Chukie Nwokorie, who cracked a bone in his right wrist last week, remained sidelined and likely won't play on Wild Card Weekend against the Seattle Seahawks.
The Packers will be short-handed at defensive end if Nwokorie can't play. Their only other backup end is Jamal Reynolds, who has been inactive for the last nine weeks.
The forecast calls for snow, but it was dry with temperatures in the 30s Friday, so coach Mike Sherman moved his workout from the Don Hutson Center.
The field, which is heated by a coiling system, was firm but not frozen, so practicing on it didn't hurt the grass or the players.
Linebacker Marcus Wilkins (calf) and offensive lineman Grey Ruegamer (sick) missed practice. Their status for Sunday is uncertain. Diggs (shoulder), Driver (ankle), Ferguson (Achilles') and Brown (knee) all expect to play.
Brett Favre, who broke his right thumb on Oct. 19, continued to practice without the split and doesn't plan to use one in the game.
Sherman expects Harris (knee) and McKenzie, who has missed two games with a turf toe, to be in the starting lineup, too.
