When was the last time an Atheist hung some fucker from a tree for not not believing? Yet you religious nutters are always out ganking people and killing in the name of your "beliefs" and your "faith." It seems a bit disingenuous for you to say that if you're wrong you're no worse off when you die considering the countless millions who have been persecuted by the fanatical adherents of your particualr brand of superstition.

Great post. Let's go back in history and see if any Christians were every persecuted for their beliefs.

Nice comparison.

here is another one

However, yes, if what I believe is correct, then I'll be in heaven, and others who don't will suffer.

I've heard of some crazy guys that think something like "I am right and I will be in heaven with gazillion virgins...while you infidels......suffer"

sounds familiar

as to christians being persecuted.....its true

most fan clubs of said imaginary beings tell their members to go after the ones that commit blasphemy LOL

There's no middle ground here. If you believe in God, Creation, and Jesus, you don't think the earth was formed by mistake. I'm not a Bible thumper, don't get me wrong. I'm posting in a damn gambling forum, give me a break! I'm a struggling Christian, no more. However, yes, if what I believe is correct, then I'll be in heaven, and others who don't will suffer. If you believe what I do, there's no rosy ending for everyone, sorry.
I'm one of the few that will openly say, "hey, I could be wrong!" No doubt, I could be... but, it's faith that makes me think I'm right. If I'm wrong, well, so be it, but I doubt I'm any worse off than those who don't. Worst case, maybe I'll be reincarnated as a stripper pole instead of a enema.

Faith is a crutch to prop up the weak. Faith is a defensive mechanism for fear of the unknown. Beliefs are traditions from the past. Believe in nothing.

You utterly miss the point. It was people with different superstitions than the Christians who were doing all that bad stuff to the Christians. What you so innocently call "belief" and "faith" are merely the precursors to persecution, prosecution, and violence.

Oh geez. As usual, this "political forum" is full of people who know it all and can't discuss anything. Now I'm a fool because I have religious beliefs. So be it.

I asked this question a few times and the only answer some bible thumpers could give me was "eventually some other people appeared"

So it's Adam , Eve and the kids Cain and Able so Cain and Able end up banging their mom?

sounds plausible to me :pope:

A literal translation of the bible will bring you nothing but heartbreak and scorn. Doesn't mean that you cant be a good christian if you under stand that the sun reflecting through rain can create a light pattern similar than that of a prism. To know that it all has a scientific reason and explanation does that make you a heretic? No it just means that the bible uses a lot of symbolism in its stories.

There are MIT PHD's that are devout Christians and the dont belive the biblical account of creation.

The arguments on both sides are pretty pointless. Christians cant prove there is a god and atheists cant prove he doesn't exist and that will never change because its not possible.

Unknown? As is any other theory people on here are talking about. Nobody can prove evolution, the big bang, none of it.
However, because I am religious, I'm weak and everyone else isn't. Makes sense.

I really hate these types of threads. I don't believe there's a God. I sure as hell want to be wrong about that.

But I know I'm right about this: It's wrong to criticise someone for their beliefs or lack of beliefs. And it's wrong to force your POV or method of religious observance or lack thereof on others.

All these threads do is get heated up, go 7 pages, and end up right where they started.

another classic example of 'gullible'

goes on diatribes against things they don't have a clue of, like 'carbon dating'

call the others 'know it all' as if it is a sin to know something about something and point out the naivete

then plays the 'poor me I am a victim because of my beliefs'

pitiful

While we're on the subject of Biblical confusion, will someone please explain this to me:
"You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud. However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit, or the coney." (Deuteronomy 14:6)

or this:

"All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you. There are, however, some winged creatures that walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground. Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper." Leviticus 11:20-22

to say that you can't prove something you would have to understand first what is there to prove/disprove

1 buck says that you can't properly the current state of affairs of the multiple scientific disciplines that you claim 'are all bs'
