So let me get this straight.......Rice was suspended 2 games and John Harbaugh was proud of him for stepping up and taking responsibility. They knew that he knocked her out cold......the girl was unconscious. Now because the video confirms what everyone already knew, now he's suspended indefinitely and released? I think the latter decision was the right one, but what the fuck? How does this video change anything?

When you see this on video, it really does something to your psyche.

Ray Rice screwed up. Ray Rice did this to himself and deserves everything he's getting.

Not really. He deserves to be punished. But not used as a scapegoat for Goodell just because of public pressure. Everyone knew he knocked her out, not sure what this video does to change that. Other than little girls like yourself having a hissy fit again.

100% spot on.

After reading this entire thread, I can't believe not one single person never brought up her smacking him first, before they head to the elevator, and then lunging at him again once in the elevator, as if she was about to pop him again.

Please don't twist my comment and say I'm defending him, but let's be realistic, she already had his blood boiling after hitting him in the face, him letting it go, and then pushing her luck by coming at him again...

I completely understand the logic behind that but the reality is that the video does create a "shock" value moreso than just reading "Ray Rice has been charged with domestic violence." Not saying it necessarily should but it does as evidenced by the public backlash he received today.

Be realistic? That was like a 10 year old kid slapping a high school senior. If she's a dumb pyscho bitch and you can't put up with her slapping you, you break up with her. You can't go Mike Tyson on her.

Agreed.

But some people react by instinct after being pushed to the limit.

Everyone is different.

And not one person here can honestly say if someone smacks them in the face in an argument, that they aren't going to be a little hot, and then especially if the person comes at them again.

Again, I'm not defending him because I couldn't put my fist up against a female's face.

Heck I'm scared enough if fighting a guy you might hit them just the wrong/right way and kill them and then it's murder!

To be honest, the video is a lot less shocking then I thought it would be. I thought he would be beating her senseless. Just one punch after she was hitting him.

The "shock" value in terms of the severity of the assault I guess is debatable. I thought it was pretty bad.

But the "shock" value I was talking about was just the mere fact that a video exists at all of him punching a girl. Think about how many non-football fans or non-serious football fans didn't even know about this situation until today when a video is released. Now it's on yahoo and msn and literally every website around. So it became a bigger deal because of the video. Fair or not.

did you watch the video even? Seriously? He hit her first and then she went to hit him and while she was trying to, he decked her.

I saw her hit him first. Not that it really matters. He was punished for knocking her out. What were people expecting happened? I thought the video was much less shocking than I imagined.

Yeah scott not that it was right for him to knock her out, but she did hit him first (before they got in the elevator) and then kind of came at him again as if she was going to him him a 2nd time.

I think he acted on instinct.

We don't know her true history either and maybe she's not a saint and hits on him all of the time.

Either way, some people can control their emotions & anger, some can't...

watch it again. He hit her first and that is why she went after him. Then came the knockout blow.

I've watched it enough. She smacks him outside the elevator then elbows him in the elevator. He throws one punch, she comes after him, he throws a wide punch with his left hand. Looks like she might have been knocked out from hitting the rail in the elevator. That punch was not a boxers punch.

Does that real matter?

If you're arguing with a guy, I'm gonna guess that if he slaps you open-handed, that it's gonna piss you off even more than hit hitting you with a closed fist.

Bottom line is she pushed his button first and got him pissed.

Do we know her history?

I just don't know why people always fall for the one-sided story we always get from the media.

And once again, not defending him.

Are we going by the tape as evidence, or are we going by what we assume?

Ok if we are going by the tape, then she actually started it with her little slap.

If we are going by assumption, then maybe he was showing his azz wherever they were and she had had enough.

Or maybe vice-versa.

We simply don't know...

I give up. I usually agree with you on most things but this one I will just scratch my head and say "wtf" and will leave it at that. Otherwise, I will be tempted to put you on post review.

Not sure what other people are seeing. It's actually a lot less severe than I thought it would be. I still think she might have been knocked out hitting the elevator rail.
