According to the player, Rice had told teammates that he had no choice but to defend himself that day in the elevator. Then the video emerged, via TMZ—and told a different story.

Yeah, it's easy to imagine a 212 lb NFL RB needing to hit his maybe 125 lb wife so hard it knocks her out to defend himself. Makes sense.

Not so sure if a video would have convicted OJ. That jury was "acebb" type stupid.

The video matters because you actually can see the knockout but there is a reasonable assumption in the 1st video and ravens should have cut him right away.

I dont think the OJ jurors were stupid - the defense put the put the white LAPD on trial and the black jurors were racist and wanted to "win" if that meant letting OJ go

These players don't understand it is a privilege to be able to make over a million dollars a year for being born good at something - they don't get that they could easily be working pay check to pay check at McDonalds - now Rice is gonna learn that

Actually they were stupid. You should google some interviews with the jurors. They didn't understand the evidence. Complete idiots.

I think espn said ray rice still gets 9 mill next year. Could be wrong about that.

You are becoming more incoherent.

Saying "what Rice said didn't match with the video" has nothing to do with the video being a "big deal"

Notice you've gone from saying "the video should have no bearing on his punishment.

To talking about Rice and his wife in the same room.

He didn't lie according to Jason LaConfora.

"Ravens officials had not seen this Rice video prior to today but he had described actions in detail. Didn't "sugarcoat" it source said..."

"So while the actual footage today was new to the Ravens visually, the description Rice gave them was in line with what the video displayed"

I wonder if there are any character clauses in that contract?

Obviously this is a lesser charge but what was the contract status of Aaron Hernandez and did he still get paid whatever his contract said he would? Just curious.

If Roger Goodell still has a job 30 days from now the NFL is the most hypocritical organization in America.

Fine, I'll play this game with you. Even if this is true, what did Roger expect when he decided to interview the abused with her abuser right there? The NFL botched this. Period.

Yes they did.
They did not care until the media and fans took off with it.

They knew what happened months ago.
They saw this exact video months ago.

I expect a new NFL commissioner in 30 days or less.

Unless Ray Rice lied to them about the event, I don't see how Roger Goodell can do this just because a video of the event was released. Ray Rice should be punished but it shouldn't be a life sentence just because the NFL screwed up.

Unless Chris Mortenson and many others are telling a lie it is a fact that the NFL has had this video for months and ignored it.

If they did not see the video it shows incompetence anyway so there is no scenario where Goodell should keep his job no matter what.

I will go on record right now and say Roger Goodell will be out of a job in 30 days or less.

Does anyone think ESPN could find someone better then Ray Lewis to discuss this issue?

I am in no way defending his actions. However I do have a problem with him being suspended indefinitely only because I don't feel the NFL has the right to retroactively punish someone. His being cut by the team is punishment enough as the chances of anyone picking him up this season were slim to none.
