Imo, New Orleans injury situation, should be a cause for concern for them in tonight's game. With West and Chandler out, New Orleans has been struggling to defend the paint, they gave up 52 points in the paint when they recently played the Timberwolves, and lost as a result. That does not bode well for the Hornets, considering that Philly averages near 40 ppg in the paint, and has their best post player back on the floor, in Elton Brand. Giving up easy buckets in the paint, will make it difficult for any team in the NBA to win games. Philly on the other hand, comes into this game, hot, as they have been playing great basketball of late. They are 9-3 in their last 12 games, and have beat some good teams along the way. Tricky situation to say the least for those interested in backing the Hornets in this one. What Hornets backers do have working in their favor is a low line, the fact that they are playing at home where they have played great basketball all year, and Chris Paul who can take over a game. Imo, New Orleans will have to shoot the ball very well in this one, to pull off the W against this hot Philly team. Leaning on Philly plus the points. But dont go against what you feel and think, it is your hard earned money that will win or lose. Hope this helps.

Good luck tonight,

Z

Thank You,

Philly+3 or +130 will be my play, final answer

Are you buying a full point? The line is -2.5 right now.

I never buy full points. The line was 1.5 when I posted and immediately shifted to 2.5..My advice is to hold off until Yao's injury status becomes certain. However the line movement, as well as the heavy action on Houston, suggests that he will play. He is listed as probable at the moment. I will do my best to update this before tip.

Now Houston is +1, how does that look knowing that Yao is out?

Gl tonight Z, im not usually on the other side of you but I locked in hornets -2 this morning and am gonna stick with it. phillys my hometeam and they are not nearly as good with brand. IF there was ever a game where he'd benefit them it would be tonight since west and chandler are out. I have more faith in cp3 at home to get it done.

you may want to fade me but the line moved all the way to knicks -1 at my book. I locked in knicks @ home at a PK. i think this is a good spot for them to grab a win at the garden even though rockets are hot and the better team, especially with t-mac and artest back in the lineup.

One of two things is going on here, either sharp money is coming in on New York, or the line was simply reset to account for Yao's absence. Difficult to gauge, although I am leaning on the latter for the better explanation. Almost upgraded this play, but due to the fishy line moves up and down, I will leave it as is, action play.

Rocket's play excellent team basketball. Great ball movement, aggressive in attacking the boards, and drive alot, i.e. they do not rely only on jumpshots to win. Important to note that the Rocket's have not had a healthy starting 5 throughout the better part of the season, and yet they are playing their best basketball right now. A sign of a team that is playing with confidence, as they are well coached, and committed to the things they do best. I'll take my chances, with the better team tonight. And I emphasize team.

Good luck as always,

Z

As people have probably noticed, Numberz, you have cooled off as of late.

Just wanted to say theres still people like me that support you and visit your thread daily for your capping insights and advice. No one wins every night, else we'd all be rich. The best cappers know it's never about the short term, it's long term consistency and staying the course that gives you results in the end.

Keep up the good work.

I have been following both you and chugg, and both of you went in the crapper at the same time. It has been tough. Let's make a comeback, and start winning again.

Dsh123, I don't know where to begin. For one thing your kind words are very encouraging, and an indication of the type of person you are. And I commend you for that.

On another note, the part of your post that I put in bold, is a theme that is worth reiterating over, and over again. This is not a battle, it is a war. The name of the game is strategy and patience. It is about setting long-term goals, and going about the best way to accomplish them. No one is above the game. Trying to consistently improve and adapt is a must, if you hope to be successful. No question that I am in a slump. I go through something like this every year with every sport. It has come to the point, where it is expected. I have found a patient mindset to have become my oasis over the years. Without it, I would be lost. I roll over my bankroll from sport to sport, and so if I allowed a slump to trigger a set of events that would lead to the depletion of my bankroll, I would in effect be compromising the possibility of achieving my long term goals. And so patience has become as much a part of my success, as capping games. For those of us in this for the long haul, we appreciate the significance of staying patient. :103631605

Your post was very much appreciated, as it is always comforting to receive support during a rough stretch.
Your post is also a reminder of the kind of place therx appears to be. A community, which by design, is meant to capitalize on the advantages of collective thinking. Together, we are more, than any one of us could be on his own.

Thanks again for the words of encouragement :toast:

magic -9 /pacers ? what do you think

Imo, the line is tight. Whenever you have a number this high, it is difficult to cap the game in terms of matchups, etc, and conclude who will cover a spread as the result of matchup advantages. Too much room for back door covers, etc, even if the game goes the way you anticipate. I tend not play lines this high, no matter the sport as they are too much of a gamble, imo. Too many things need to go right. However, here are a few numbers that may be of service.

The Magic this season, when coming off of 2 days rest are 7-0 ATS.
They are also 14-4 ATS, when playing against bad defensive teams that allow an average of 99 + ppg to the opposition. Indiana fits this role, as they allow 106 plus per contest on defense. Also Magic, are 12-1 ATS against teams that score the ball well, i.e., against teams that score an average of 100 point plus. Indiana also fits this role, as they average slightly more than 104 ppg.

If I had to make a play, it would be on the Magic, for more reasons than those stated above.

However, in light of their recent 2 game losing streak, I will lay off and watch the game as a fan, with interest in how they will respond after lossing back to back. (But I do think the Magic roll in this one)..

Hope this helps,

Z

So what's on the card tonight? Any leans? Potential plays?

Paddy, I won't be making any full game wagers tonight. I have decided to tighten up a bit, in light of my recent slump. I'll be putting forward a conscious effort to be more selective with my picks until my performance improves. With that being said, I have capped tonight's games. And so if good opportunity presents itself, and I see value, I will make a play on a 2nd half..I will post any plays that are made, on my side..

I hope you have a profitable night :toast:
