Nice hit Rich!

Our Italian friend like the Yanks to win tonight, even though when you've going to San Diego.

But the Pods are terrible, I said in surprise.

It's not the team it's the place he replied. Most perfect most beautiful weather in the whole goddamn country. The place is paradise. (Kind of like a college football team going to Hawaii - minds not on the game.) So lots of better teams go there and lose.

But I think we handle our business tonight, he said. We seem to have a renewed sense of urgency and the Padre pitcher - Colin Rea will be under pressure to perform. And he tries to nibble (pitch on the edges of the strike zone) and has had a tendency to fall behind on the count. No bueno against our boys who are not afraid to take a pitch or two. (Understatement - Stand)

Also, Vin continued, the Pods just traded their closer yesterday. Gotta depress the rest of the team - "management has given up on us."

You think Robo will get out of the funk he's in?

I do, says Vin. That big ballpark will be his friend and there are really only two danger men in the Pods lineup - Myers, who is a Yankee killer, and Upton, who Eovaldi has handled pretty well in the past. And of course, we'll have a lot of fans in the stands.

It'll be interesting to see if McCann or Beltran are in the starting lineup, Vin continued, but I like them to come away with a win tonight no matter.

GLTA! Holiday weekend of baseball on deck!

Well Stander -
Think I found a spot for Refsnyder, at least for today.
RF with a lefty on the mound as the Hicks experiment continues to be a disaster.
Although Joe can sit either Ellsbury or Gardner for Ref.
Also Romine for McCann.
Good day to see if the young righties guys can give the lineup a jolt against a very good pitcher.
Pomeranz was drafted higher than Harvey in 2010.
Lineups not out yet.
Let's see if I'm thinking the same as ummm Charlie Brown.

Len - I'll be interested to see the lineups too. Vin is out of town for the holiday weekend but he told me yesterday that he likes the Pods tonight behind Pomeranz, who is, as you said, a very good lefty and for Ivan to get roughed up. Sigh - roughed up by the Pods. Oh the humanity. I must confess going to bed before the end of the game last night but it looks like the Pods really missed their closer.

I thought the Yanks would win for sure when we got to the late innings. Upton kills the us again but cashes the SD bet.

Vin is picking the Yankees to win today and avoid the sweep. I know the Pods have been bad at home and in day games but do you really think the bats can wake up and Green can find his feet? Yes, said Vin. We gotta win today.

I heard the ocean and the sounds of a restaurant in the background.

You're not drinking are you?

So what if I am, came back Vin. I'm old enough! Take the Yanks today and buy Jobu some goddamn rum!

Vin likes the Big Man v the AL Central. Hopefully the Yanks can win another one on Independence Day - a stage on which they usually play well.

GLTA! Have great fourth!

Thanks Indy - you too! Well, we got throttled by James "Big Shame" Shields. Oh the injustice of it all... well, tomorrow is another day.

Socks, says Vin. Lefty with decent power in Rodon, which is always a problem for our boys, who are swinging cold bats anyway. With the heat tonight there's always a chance either he or Tanaka might get roughed up. Difference is the Socks bats are hot (comparatively speaking) and the team is in rhythm. Our record against these guys is good, but we lose this one.

Shit. I think this team is better with some starters sitting. Would be interesting to see their record when guys sit. Maybe it's like the NFL - addition by subtraction - reserves/backups playing trying to get contracts/more money elsewhere. And Rodon pitched like he just ate a bad batch of tacos. Wow. Well, the boys are battling to reach .500 and I think Vin might be too. Well, let's get it back tomorrow.

Now 11-16 vs. lefties.
Nice to see some of these right handed bats off the bench coming through.
Refsnyder continues to make his case to find some playing time.

Len I agree totally on Ref. He made some good plays in the field too. Vin told me today the Eovaldi was going to the pen and Chad Green was taking his spot in the starting rotation. That means weve got four flamethrowers in the pen. Five inning game anyone?

Worried about CC. Three straight clunkers...

Vins on Papa Midnight and the boys tonight. Hard to go against Pineda in his current form says Vin. This is his time of year - hotter than Hades and that big bastard can really dig his fingers into the ball and get the movement he wants. Hopefully he brings Jobu's rum!

And the pitching carousel continues.
More reason to believe they will end up right about where they are.
Floating around .500
