Jonathons story is a great one. A good read if anyone wants to look into him. Shortly after college he took a full time job as a accountant. He thought this was what his life would be. He had always dabbled in cash game play as a hobby. Just last year he started playing tournaments, he was very competitive and wanted to win every pot. As you know, that didn't work well in a shorter blind situation. His poor performance disgusted him. He decided he would dedicate himself to learning tournament poker. This year he decided to play a good amount of wsop circuit events. This year he won 3 rings. There is only one other poker player that has accomplished the same feat. And jonathon didn't even play every circuit event available. It is simply amazing what he has accomplished in his first year.
Good stuff. We constantly find things to wager on when we are traveling. There were 3 of us including JT traveling from the Hammond IN stop to the next stop this year. Jonathon was asleep and we were coming up on Bowling green KY. There was a corvette convention going on that day. We heard them advertising it on the radio. Me and my other buddy decided to wake him up and play the "car game." The way it works is one person calls out the make, then you each pick a model and specific color. If your combo is seen in the highway the other 2 owe a set amount. Jonathon agrees to this game, as we had played it numerous times. My buddy picks Chevrolet. I pick red corvette, my buddy picks black corvette. Jonathon berates us both and said "you guys are fools, we are in BFE. These people around here don't have vette's. I take black Malibu, that's what the middle class drive. Easy money!" We decides on 150.00 per car. When it was all said and done he owed my buddy 3900.00 and me 5700.00. He was irate as we never welch on bets, although we routinely cut deals. He ended up settling for .50 on the dollar.Ask Taylor about the game "between the sheets" and "butcher".
One of my better Taylor stories:
We were playing "between the sheets" but I added a twist to it. You had to win 3 times before you won the pot. Each time you lost you had to match the pot and if you "bumped" you had to double the pot.
After about 25 minutes of play the pot was over 2500 dollars and most of all of that was Taylor's, excluding a few hundred. Taylor needed one card to win and the cards that showed up were a King and a Deuce. He needed anything from a Queen to a 3 to win. If a King or Deuce came he would be putting 5 thousand in the pot. If an Ace came, he would be putting 2500 dollars in the pot. He says "I'm in, and if I lose I'm going immediately to the ATM machine, nobody better say a word or I'm punching them in the face."
It was a rather intense moment for a bunch of college football kids and of course he won.
HILARIOUS!!!Once we were stopped by the train in St. Louis. He sat the bar at 55 cars. He allowed me to pick over or under at a bill per car. I picked the over. Here comes the shortest damn train in history. I owed $3800. So, the next day on the way to the same casino we ran into the same train. I sat the bar at 35. He say's "since you lost yesterday, you can pick over or under." Being as smart as I am, I pick under thinking it must always be short. Boom! The longest train in history! I owe $5300. Fuck the train game! He reminds me every time we see a train.
