Authorities say Tiger Woods has been hurt in a car wreck in Florida, though the severity of his injuries remains unclear.
The Florida Highway Patrol says the PGA star hit a fire hydrant and a tree as he pulled out of his driveway at around 2 a.m. Friday in his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle.
Woods was taken to Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, Florida. His condition was not immediately known, though the news release said his injuries were serious.
According to the Orlando Sentinel's Web site, a hospital employee told the paper that Woods isn't a patient. A hospital operator declined to tell the paper if he had already been treated and released.
Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, told CNBC via e-mail that the golfer "is fine."
The airbags in Woods' Escalade didn't deploy, which means he was traveling at less than 33 mph, according to the paper.
Woods is one of the world's richest athletes, a leading force in sports marketing and the biggest draw on the PGA tour.
Woods made a triumphant comeback on the tour this year after sitting out much of the 2008 season following reconstructive knee surgery. He was operated on shortly after clinching his 14th major title, the 2008 U.S. Open.
He did not win a major title this year but had a successful year capped by winning the season-long FedEx Cup.
