akphidelt ...............

I guess you are not too use to the Offshore Forum. or like you said in a few post back. You like it here because there are More Opinions

I really don't think you are understanding the Offshore.

and if you keep treating the Posters Up here, like you are in the Poli Forum, you will get to Understand it even more.

First and Last warning.

I've been around on a few forums in my day. In my opinion, the key to a good forum is having good posters. Mods should reign in the people who are not contributing any value. Value doesn't have to be sharp analysis. Value can be humor, or different opinions. Don't worry most of you guys... There's room for dumbasses as long as you are respectful.

Moving a thread is a pussy move. Either a thread is worthwhile, or it's not. Either delete it or let it stay. I never go to the RR forum because by default it's for posts that suck, if you move posts there I will never see them. I bet if a traffic analysis was done, most readers go to 1 or 2 subforums then leave the forum. There are too many subforums.

In my opinion this conversation is misguided. I like the passion Defy is showing for making this a good place for us to post. But perhaps the mods should be starting threads for debate, rarely deleting them. Shape the discussion into what you want it to be, rather than trying to prevent what you don't think is idea. Just my thoughts...

Yea it would suck of we clutter up the offshore forum from 5teams bumping of 10 year old threads.
It would be a travesty if I missed the happy birthday John McEnroe bumped thread.

That doesn't work Chop. I've tried before....

a couple of days I had the First page active with 25 New threads, about 70% of them had multiple posts. He still Bumped 5 Threads

Chop, funny stuff about Shrink as most posters here don't even know him.

The guy would have a three-way conversation with his mods and hatch a plan to say a particular poster owed his bookie 75K. He would just make it up for the sole purpose of drumming up views and conversation on his main page.

He was an asshole but he knew these forums up and down. And so did Journeyman.

LOL.
Shrink was the forum king.
He loved threads like the ones getting sent to the RR.

He would make up ghost and argue with himself and ban himself.
LOL.

That's fine, but there were already TWO other threads on the Sterling Subject. Why Start a 3rd ??

i know nothing of the man, but if that's true, that's laugh out loud hilarious.

Defying, you should have seen the shit the guy did. And he'd always ask posters to call him with the goal of starting this kind of thread or that kind of thread etc. He would read PMs of his posters but then claim he didn't have that sort of power but his mods called him on it after he died.

Guy would always post his famous Billy Walters plays even though I think he was full of shit when he did that.

Don't know anything about the specifics on what was deleted or moved. I agree same topics should be merged into 1 thread.

who were you back then? or were you just a lurker?

I joined in Sept of 2005, just after I dropped my baby off at college and became an empty nester and all of a sudden had a lot more time on my hands :), and the Shrink had already departed

I'm late to this party. I didn't know Shrink that well but if anyone knew how to run a profitable forum, he was the guy.

He knew there were a lot of posters that come for sports and to shoot the shit, but he also recognized that the forum drama is what got the posters staying on the forums for much longer than they should've and kept them pushing refresh.

I haven't been around as much recently but rx (post shrink) has always been a little too quick to pull the trigger on PR and moving/deleting threads. I appreciate not tolerating the touts and stiffs and scammers....but when people want to start throwing insults back and forth thats when it gets good...hahaha

Either way I think rx is the biggest and most popular forum for a reason. There is a cool kids club for the older members but newer members eventually get in the mix with it as well. I dont think there is anything about this site that drives away new posters
