Serbia vs. Turkey
under 18
Wed. July 30, 2014
Turkey -2.5 (Marathonbet)

Both teams are 3-1 and will advance to the quarterfinals. Turkey is playing at home and led by Guven at 17 ppg. Hopefully, Serbia doesn't make too many 3's and Turkey can hold on and win by 5 or more.

Bad loss as the game meant more to Serbia and they played well from the start.

China/Slovenia
Stankovix Cup
Saturday
under 131

This will be the third game in 3 days. China's games have seen 121 and 122 points while Slovenia's games have both reached 137. China will focus on defense and try to slow down the game as they are 9 point underdogs.

Spain vs. Greece
women's under 16
Wednesday (August 6, 2014)
under 113.5

Greece has played poorly lately and their last three games have reached 101, 81, 84 points as they have scored in the upper 20's and made just 9 field goals in their last two games. Spain is favored by 25.5. Hoepfully, we see a 65-45 type of game that stays under.

USA vs. Greece
under 17
Friday (8/8/2014)

over 141.5

Greece will want to play slow and the USA will want to run and score. Back in 2012 in the under 17 tourney won by the USA all of their matches made it to 150 points. Hopefully, the USA gets off to a nice start in the opener. GL!

Germany vs. Netherlands
women's under 16 (Division B)
1:15pm eastern (Saturday)
over 118.5

These two play in the quarterfinals of Division B. Germany is -4 and is undefeated and led by New York-born Satou Sabally. She averages 18 ppg and 10 rebounds while Schutter scores 14.5 per game. Klug and Lappenhuper are in the 6 to 7.7 ppg range. The team scores 68 ppg and had some low scores vs. weak teams like Estonia.

The Netherlands are led by center Westerik at 19.4 ppg and that leads all scorers in Division B. The team did average 74 ppg but the next highest scorer is at 7 ppg. Bloemkolk is at 5.8 ppg but did score 16 vs. Finland. Fatgirl Slim is at 5.8 ppg and Anne Van V. is at 7 points and 6 assists. The Netherlands played a 74-71 game with Poland and the teams shot 78 and 68 field goals, respectfully.

I won't be shocked to see an under but it seems that the two big girls can score inside against each other and that will open up the outside. Germany has Schutter as a second scorer at 14.5 ppg and she is decent at 3-point range.

I don't see why both can't score close to 60 points each and we get a game in the 120's and over the total. GL!

Russia vs. Spain
women's under 16 (Division A)
Saturday (Aug. 9, 2014)
Russia -13.5

Russia beat Spain 82-54 earlier and outrebounded them 55-36. Spain also lost by 6 to the home team (Hungary). Russia beat Greece by 15 but their next closest game was by 31. A quote from the Belgium coach:

"In four years in these championships, they are the best team I've seen. They have everything. They play good in defence and offence, they are organised, and I think their coach is a great coach. It was a pleasure to play them. They are such a smart team. I'm very happy that we reached this stage." - Belgium head coach.

Russia was -22 against Belgium and won by 46.

Russia -13.5

Great work yesterday and best of luck today. Got some great line value yesterday on the total and again today with Russia, up to -21.

Egypt vs. Greece
men's under 17
Thursday (August 14. 2014)
Egypt +24.5

Greece only lost to USA by 10 to open the tourney but then beat Philippines by 20, only beat Angola by 11 and just lost to Australia by 8 in the Round of 16. Egypt is 0-4 but only lost to Serbia by 18 and just lost in OT to Puerto Rico. They did lose by 28 to China and to Argentina by 35. I am hoping that Greece will play all their players about 20 minutes each and will be happy to win by 18 to 20 points.

USA vs. Serbia
under 17
Friday
Serbia +27.5

The semifinals are Friday. Both teams are undefeated. The USA's first game was a 10 point win vs. Greece as it took awhile for the Americans to get going. The other games have been blowouts. Spain and Australia meet in the other semifinal. Serbia is well coached by Vanja Gusa (G followed by USA). He coached the team to a silver in the Europe under 16 (close loss to Spain) and gold at the EYOF. Serbia is without injured Milos Glisic but they do have a deent PG in Peno and some inside stiffs who can score and rebound.

The USA team could win by 30 to 35 and it wouldn't surprise me but I like Serbia's chances to stay within 20 to 25 points if they can slow down the game as they did in beating Canada 71-64 and not let the favorites run and grab rebounds inside after misses. GL!

Serbia +27.5

Serbia stays within 21 as it ends 89-68.
I stayed up till 3:45am last night and the line was USA -26.5 but moved to -27.5. I am not surprised the spread dropped as it got closer to game time. The total seemed high at 166.5 and it stayed under. The game was on ESPN.

On Saturday, the USA plays Australia for the title of the under 17 men's FIBA. Also, the USA men's national team plays Brazil (in Chicago) in an exhibition game before the World Championships/World Cup begins in Spain.
