Fiba Asia Cup
Singapore vs. Philippines
Monday (July 14, 2014)
Singapore +41.5

The underdogs lost 70-53 to Jordan while the favorites beat Taipei 78-64. Singapore and Indonesia are the two bottom feeders in the tourney. W.L. Wong scored 33 and had 10 rebounds for Singapore. Singapore was able to win the SEABU tournament and qualify (only 3 teams were in it). Hopefully, the underdogs can stay within 35. GL!

Singapore stays within 17 as it ends 74-57.

India vs. Iran
Fiba Asia Cup
Tuesday (July 15)
India +22.5

India is 2-1 and will play in the qaurterfinals. They upset China (home team) 65-58 and crushed Indonesia 91-55. They did lose their opener 75-52 to Japan. They are led by V.B. (who had 16 points and 5 assists in the last game), Sirakumar, Singh and Mishra. They are coached by Scott Fleming, who is with the Dallas Mavericks organization, as an asst. with the Texas Legends. He coached college at Mount Vernon Nazarene and had a 440-273 college record. He led India to a win over Angola to win gold at the Lusofonia Games.

Iran was favored to win the Asian Cup along with China and is led by Haddadi, who is still trying to get into shape. He has NBA experience. Iran beat Japan by 10, lost to China by 13 and beat Indonesia by 30.

Hopefully, Iran uses most of their roster and is happy to win by just 15 to 20 points and India +22.5 is profitable.

Iran wins 62-49. India led 24-13 early in the 2nd quarter and was ahead till it was 34-33. Nice effort by India to stay within 13.

Portugal at Bosnia (B&H)
July 15, 2014
men's under 20
Portugal +25.5

This game is at Sarajevo, so B&H will have the crowd support. B&H is 4-0 while Portugal is 3-0. The underdog is led by Ventura 18.7 ppg, Bastos 16 ppg and Diedade 13.7. They have some other decent players like Ferreira. B&H has played well and led by Nurkic 15 ppg and Glogovac 14 ppg. I think B&H wins but like the points. GL!

Thanks! B&H wins 73-64. Portugal jumped ahead 39-25 but B&H outscored them 19-0 to start the 4th quarter and that worried me some.

China vs. Singapore
Asian Cup
Singapore +35.5

Singapore plays China in the Q-Finals in China. It's #1 in one division vs. #4 in another and looks like China will win and face the Phillipines and the winner of that will play Iran for the title. The games are being played in China. China's games:

beat Indonesia by 68
beat Iran by 13
lost to India by 7
beat Japan by 13

Singapore's games:

lost to Philippines by 17
lost to Taipei by 21
lost to Jordan by 17

Singapore has some decent players like Wong, Ng and Goh. Hopefully, China will be happy to win by 30 and then focus on the semifinals. GL!

Lost the last play with Stink-a-poor +35.5 as China smashed them by 47.

Iran vs. Philippines
Asia Cup
over 128.5

Iran played some low scoring games (in the 120's vs. weak teams) early in the tourney and even lost to China with a 64-51 (115). Iran just beat Jordan 75-60 (135 points). Haddidi (player with NBA experience) has played better lately. The Philippines have had some close wins as they beat Jordan by 1 and India by 4. Marcus Doudhit and Paul Lee are scorers for the underdogs. Iran beat them 85-71 (156) in last year's Asian Games and two years ago in this tourney 77-60 (in the semi's). Hopefully, the Filipinos can make a few 3's and get inside hoops from Douthit and get this game into the low 130's.

And by Thursday I meant Friday.. ;)

Looks like 5dimes just posted their first line (and now another). Hopefully this game is soon to follow.

Just went to look for a line, couldn't find one, then looked up the game and saw the final score with the total soaring over by almost 30. Frustrating for me (especially because I was on Singapore), but congrats to you, Dr. T!

Jeez, I thought I saw 85-71, but I just realized that was the last score you mentioned in your write up. I was just lookin for some action during the all-star break.. Not quite in tune with these international hoops just yet. Either way congrats.

Asia Fiba
Iran vs. Chinese Taipei
7:30am EDT Saturday
Iran -7.5 (Pinnacle)

The championship game is set for Saturday. Taipei has former Baylor star Quincy Davis. The underdogs can stay close if he plays well. Iran played great in the semis and beat The Philippines by 22. Former NBA player Hadadi (11 points) played well for Iran as did their youngsters. Yackchali had 18 points, Jamshidi had 19 and Mashayekhi had 10.

Iran beat Taipei 79-60 last year. Teipei has lost just once and that was to the Philippines by 78-64. I think Iran wins and covers on Saturday. Marathonbet, bet365, Pinnacle and 5 Dimes carry many international hoop games.
