Justin, I don't know you from Adam, but I will give you a bit of different perspective. My buddy works for this company:
http://www.axa-equitable.com/home.html and his "5" year degree was a BA in English..........he did some deadliest catch style crabbing for a few years and joined the company where they basically handed him a phone book.
Now he is one of the number one planners on the west coast, with a majority of his clients from Microsoft. Granted he is driven and put in the hours but once accepted and passed his Series 7 and 63 from there is was the different designations such as certified financial planner, and Chartered Underwriter and a few weeks at the Wharton Financial school paid for by the company.
Point being, he knew it was about sales, they told him upfront it was about sales, and he went into knowing he had to sell. Now 15 years later he can coach his kids full time, goes on what he calls "Fake Business Trips" which are paid for by the company and take off early to ski or water ski, plays in about 3 or 4 different softball leagues and literally and figuratively controls his life.
I get the fact that you may not like sales, as I was accepted by the American Express Financial advisors, and I was not keen to sell in that way and chose commercial real estate instead. However, it is a common misnomer that you need some sort of advanced degree to truly succeed in this field, even in Management, where one of his buddies was a history major as well. Good luck!
