Glavine???? Needs 300 wins. Hoffman? Lets just throw every closer in there. Andrew Jones? Lol, needs several more years. Thome? Needs 500. Williams? Great player in his prime but bubble at best. Pujols? Too early but will get there. Smoltz? One of my favorite all timers but bubble at this point. Needs a couple of more Smoltz type years. With the saves doesn't need 300 wins. Bagwell? Mmmm, close not sure. Jeter? Needs 3000 hits. But pretty sure he'll make it if not. Everyone else is yes.

Glavine does not need 300 wins. His career could end tommorow. 2 Cy Youngs. World Series ring. He already has 282. Thats plenty.

Andruw Jones already has 9 gold glove and over 350 homers. Plenty.
Andruw is the Ozzie Smith of centerfield. If Ozzie gets in on defense alone, Andruw should certainly get in with not only his OZZIE type defense in center, but also his potent bat which Smith never had.

I already removed Bernie Williams from my lock list.

Trever Hoffman is not just any closer my friend. Check his stats. The compare very close to Rivera. 2nd best closer of this generation.

hall of fame will always improve/increase its requirements to get in as the game evolves and stats are shattered/broken/occur more frequently

some of these guys were real solid players in their generation, and their stats and careers were better than some in the hall. but the game is changing. and they arent standing out enough in their eras.

just can't see Ted Williams, Babe Ruth and Omar Vizquel hanging out in the same room.

EXACTLY!!! Its the Hall of Fame. The best baseball players of their era. Not the above average players who get in cause they reach a certain number.

jeff kent a stone cold lock for the HOF are u kidding??? really chop

andrew jones is no stone cold lock, possible yes , but I would say his chances are more likely on the no side. Ozzie Smith is universally thought of by pretty much everyone as the best ss of his time defense wise ..........andrew jones maybe the best cf of his time in your mind but its not universally accepted like ozzie was.............i would say his chance of getting in are about 25%

It is universally accepted that Andruw Jones is not only the best centerfielder of his time, but most people agree hes is the best of all-time.

I will bet anyone willing to risk money that AJ is first ballot all the way.

Your wrong.

Even if Andruw is not quite the CF that Ozzie was at SS. Andruws bat more than makes up for what little if any that he lacked on defense vs Smith.

I will bet you right now that AJ is a first ballot lock.

andruw jones is definitely regarded as one of the best defensive centerfielders ever, and he does swing it too.

not to mention what burns in peoples minds is the entrance he made in the big leagues with those world series and playoffs at 19 years old or so.

he should be 1st ballot when its all said and done.

now omar vizquel, jeff kent, etc.

i just dont think these guys accomplishments will stand out enough in their eras. over baseball's entirety? yeah. they game has changed. requirements will change. these are not guys baseball would idolize and give the highest honor, and i think they'll have a tough time getting in, much less a lock.

How about Ruth Williams and Aparicio, who's stats are about the same as Omar....You make some excellent points as to whether these guys stand out enough, the game is much more athletic now and some of these very good players may come up just short.

Personally I would not put Kent, Smoltz, Omar, and a few others on that list but the do have a decent shot...I feel that the criteria may change a good bit after the recent developments...those guys are all very good players but not HOFers.

Someone else mentioned Jones last year and at first I laughed , but after taking a closer look you have to really consider him...

He has some unique numbers and some poor numbers (for HOF potential)

He's only 29 and is well on pace for 600 home runs, you just can't deny that!

On the negative side he is a strikeout king, he wiffs way more than he walks, he's still relatively young too....now if he got hurt or totally fell off the table like Juan Gonzalez or Robbie Alomar he wouldn't get in, but he is well on his way IMO.

Babe Ruth was a strikeout king

Babe was not...he never even K'd 100 times in a season.

Babe Ruth walked 732 more times than he K'd and was a career .342 hitter

Andruw has already K'd more than 500 times more than he's walked and his OBP is what Babe's batting average was. .342

Babe avg .342
Jones OBP .342

Mike Mussina is a border line fence sitter for the HoF.
I don't think Bernie's ticket gets punched though.

On 2nd look, I did a bad job with this group here.

ALMOST STONE COLD LOCKS
All they have to do is have a few more good years and they are in. I say about 65% of this list will end up getting in after all is said and done.

MIGUEL TEJADA
VLAD GUERRERO
ROY HALLADAY
TROY GLAUS
ICHIRO
JIM EDMONDS
DERREK LEE
JULIO FRANCO
CARLOS DELGADO
TODD HELTON
DAVID ORTIZ
JASON GIAMBI
MIKE MUSSINA

But I stand behind all the stone cold locks.

Everyone of the 27 will get in, in that catagory.
