I count 27 locks for the baseball HOF(ACTIVE PLAYERS) and a ton on the verge.

My list is active players. McGriff is in, but If I had to rate them, Bagwell way above McGriff. Better on defense, over 200 SBs,30/30 twice, played in the toughest ballpark on all of MLB his entire prime.

On the surface...maybe. Bagwell is about to be dogged by steroid allegations, as he should be if you've seen him recently. Frank Thomas is another one that I think is borderline.

I think McGriff should get in, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

BTW- if Biggio makes it, no other player has done this to my knowledge.

Not Henderson, not Barry.

3000/300/400 club :103631605

Never been done before Journeyman.

Dont forget he is also the all-time doubles leader, and he is also the all-time HBP leader.

I would mortage my house that Biggio is a 110% lock. There is not even a question about it.

I can name you 30 players in the hall of fame that is in for that very reason.

Cal Ripken
Wade Boggs

Even Pete Rose if you really want to get down to it.

Name 1 trully great year that Pete Rose has ever had.

1973 MVP, also finished in the top 7 in MVP voting 6 other times.

Sandberg had a better career, including a MVP. Biggio had a longer, steadier career. WC, do you think Biggio is better than Alomar?

Another who had a late start to his career, is Schilling. Very nice career.

Biggio is not a spectacular player, but neither was Sandberg, although Sandberg was better defensively. Sandberg was a pretty boy who played for the Cubs when the Cubs and Braves were the only games on TV every day. If he played for the Padres he probably wouldn't be in.

Like others say above, Biggio will end up with 3,000 hits and damn close to 300 HR's...

Alomar is a no.

He is not the alltime doubles (604) leader but he is way up on that list , Tris Speaker (792) had nearly 800 doubles.

What is amazing is Alomar basically was done at age 33. I don't think he was a big fan of conditioning, he was a very natural ballplayer...great player for his time playing.

Kind of like Dale Murphy. Dale Murphy was washed up at age 32.

That will cost both of them from getting in the HOF.

Spitting on the umpire does not help either.

:lolBIG: at the fact that you give merit to finishing in the top 15 of MVP voting. Freakin Pat Burrell was in the top 15 of NL MVP last year. Big fucking deal. Even finishing 2nd doesn't mean shit.

Not sure that Jeter is a HOF lock if he retired tomorrow. Larry Walker's career stats are better in every category (except one point on career avg and a couple WS rings). Walker's career stats vs. Jeter's:

Jeter needs a couple more years to qualify IMO, because I don't think Walker will make the HOF and his career totals are better than Jeter's...

You forgot Johnny Damon who actually is very comparable to Jeter...Damon will likely also reach 3000 hits.

Chop, your list can't be taken serious because you have Pujols as a stone cold lock if career ended today and there is absolutely NO WAY he would get in the hall of fame with his current numbers...I mean the man has only played 5 and 1/3 seasons...Can you explain why you listed him in the first list and not the second

A few years ago he seemed like a shoe-in. Now Garciaparra doesn't even make your list.

Glavine???? Needs 300 wins. Hoffman? Lets just throw every closer in there. Andrew Jones? Lol, needs several more years. Thome? Needs 500. Williams? Great player in his prime but bubble at best. Pujols? Too early but will get there. Smoltz? One of my favorite all timers but bubble at this point. Needs a couple of more Smoltz type years. With the saves doesn't need 300 wins. Bagwell? Mmmm, close not sure. Jeter? Needs 3000 hits. But pretty sure he'll make it if not. Everyone else is yes.

I took a few slight libertys with the stone cold locks.

Im gambling on the fact that Pujols will play another 3 years.

Thats all he needs is 3 more years. He will get the Gayle Sayers exemption if his career gets cut short.
